I know that it would've been cheaper & easier to just buy a replacement alternator, but dude you have no idea how much I appreciate this video and rebuild. I've had to rebuild my alternator twice in my Explorer and I made the same mistake with the contact ring. Great video and MAJOR props. Thanks a ton!

I’ve never rebuilt an alternator, seeing you do it makes it seem possible for me, but still not as easy as I would’ve imagined, It’s a great and honest tutorial, the option about being able to clock the housing is super interesting! Thanks for sharing your hard work 😎👍

Great job on this one. I rebuilt 1970 Mustang type alternators but never a 3G. I was thinking noise was from bearing not from rusty stater. Awesome work my friend! 👊😎👍

Thanks Rick! I figured that I may as well just do the bearings while I was in the neighborhood. But yeah, think that rust was giving noises.

I know that those 3g alternators are still offered by Lmr but the last time i looked they were pretty pricey but that was when they first came out as an update for the mustang. I guess what i’d really like to know is are they just hype or to you guys who have done the update are they really worth the money?🤷🏿‍♂️

I am a huge fan of the 3G. I have a subwoofer, Taurus fan, and a Volvo electric power steering pump running - and it does very well. I want to figure out how to get one in my Toyota because I like it that much.
