Cannot like this video enough. Over the years my dad went through a Corvette, various MBs and a Lexus, and he just took me out in his new MB GLC (he's 75). Over the years, I've gone though BMWs, MBs and Audis and I just took him out in my new A7. Each time we were smiling from ear to ear. The love of cars starts with fathers and ends up with sons.

Absolutely right I agree with you Chris! My dad had me driving cars when I was a little kid

4-5 months ago I bought a 2001 Mercedes-Benz S 500, for 11 thousand dollars, this might sound crazy, but I never regretted it, I took the car to a check center and it had no problems and no codes, the Airmatic, side mirrors, headlight washers, and everything is just in pristine condition, never ran into any issues and took the car for a 1200 kilometers road trip and back, no issues, then I stumbled across a Brabus body kit for the S 500 and bought it, got some new 18 inch wheels to go along with it, I don't care what people say about it, I LOVE IT!!

I just driving my on the highway for the first time after dealing with this transmission problem I was doing 80 feel like I was doing 40 the performance is amazing now we understand why this was 80,000 $ bring new . worth every Penny great car.

Yes I agree, these were executive cars meant to be chauffeured around in. Massage seats with fold down tables on back of driver's and passenger's seats were one of the options available. This was and still is one of the top luxury vehicles of its time.

Who wants a $750 Mercedes-Benz? 😁

Mine a 2002 s430 90k. And i love it. No winter no salt. Never a problem. Replaced air pump for ride. 800 bucks. Brakes and 2 sets of tires! Fast comfy and fun

A year ago I purchased a 2006 s430 with 245,000 miles for next to nothing from a long time friend of the family. It's a sweet ride and I use it for everything from going on a dates dressed up to taking giant dogs for rides and to the vet. My home is in a very nice area full of all type of expensive vehicles and this Benz gets tons of attention. I have a new Ram and a Suburban and neighbors walk right past them and ask me about that old Mercedes. It drives like a dream and is comfortable. I'm a 6'1" 265 pound weightlifter and I have NEVER been in a more comfortable car. These are cars you should buy for cheap and when they go, they go. It's the first non pickup or SUV I've had in a decade and I'm glad I picked it up. Great video!

I have the same situation regarding buying a 2002 s430 with 144,000 miles and before buying it of course will get pre-inspection from Mercedes dealer but my question have you experienced since your purchase along with any advice would be appreciated. I don't drive my car that much but in reading on the car to my understanding repairs can be expensive so don't want to buy cheap and be buying repairs high so to speak.

This is great - you should have a channel where you guys just drive around all day.

I just bought a 04 S430 for a grand from the original owner. 4 new tires and it’s a dream ride. Such an impressive car. It had only seen the Mercedes dealer in Naples FL for service and repair. Still in shock!

Yes I own one of these in immaculate condition. Same year and as of 2021, 110kmiles sticker price when it was new was $86,000. My interior is just as good, this s class (w220) made some of the toughest leathers Mercedes ever made.

I have the same car 3000 2 owners s430 2002 you need the Mercedes sign logo in the front hood like me you can buy it yes a lot of features very comfortable what do you recommend the tires I use 160 speed rating ones so I can handle turns perfectly and speed tires

Gentlemen, thank you for your great ride along and review of the beautiful black 2002 Mercedes S430. Also kudos to you and your Dad, I can tell that you all been through a lot leaving Iraq to re-settle in Canada for a new life. I worked with many great people in Iraq and Afghanistan during my military career. I am currently buying the same car for $3900 here in the USA, thankfully no one has stolen the badging off the vehicle for a gaudy, ghetto neck chain...lol. :D

@@carswithsonduren pretty solid on test drive, looks like lower ball joints will need replacing soon. I want to replace the sway bar as the age and mileage of the car probably requires it. I didn't see any replacement on the maintenance record

Nice deal 👍👍👍 i got an s320 2001 for 800 $ here in lebanon, it have done 190k km but it has the biggest S class problem ... the air suspension 🤦‍♂️ the previous owner retrofitted some shock absorbers for another car to bypass the airmatic and the car isn’t smooth anymore 😭 i wanted to ask about the way your father said his friend can transform airmatic into normal coil spring suspension . I appreciate that if you can guide me to solve this problem ... i love my car i don’t want to sell it cause of this issue 🥺

Its called coil overs. I wouldn't recommend it as it changes the way the car drives and feels. If your w220 doesn't have the ABC suspension changing the air shocks is an easy and inexpensive job with original airnot struts costing around $200 each and not 1k and is like a 30 task each one. If you can turn a wrench you can work on the air suspension

I find it sad sometimes that Mercedes-Benz cars are compared to BMW. They are very different when quality is a concern. I would always take a Benz over a BMW if it's for a car I plan to keep. (:

@@carswithsonduren Yup exactly. I enjoyed Honda 4 cylinder VTEC engines. When I drove a Corvette with that LS V8. I got hooked. Like a feeding fish 🎣.

Hey man do you know anyone that know how to convert Mercedes-Benz with airmatic suspension to coilovers? I just got my first s class i heard changing the strut cost alot so i was thinking converting it to coilovers im just in Hamilton

Call a mechanic

Still needs some work. And get rid of those hideous wheels. You can buy a nice set of OEMs on Craigslist for under $500. I paid $200 for mine in excellent cond. I use them for my winters. The 2003+ are the ones to buy. They were facelifted with many improvements, including the audio system, optional 4Matic and much better rust protection.

Is 1,300 a good price for this car if the parts are up to date?

First time possible buyer of this car and have an individual that I know that wants to sell one for $3500 with 144,000 miles. My question relates to either buying this or not buying this after it does/does not pass pre purchase mercedes pre-inspection at a local mercedes dealer. I have the Carfax report and everything so far appears good but who knows. I don't drive that much under 10,000 miles yearly but don't want to buy cheap and find out that cheap isn't cheap. Appreciate any input
