That’s an awesome engine man! I grew up with and admittedly love small turbo import engines. I’m an Asian guy and I like Asian cars, it just makes sense. Three years ago I bought an S10 with a little supercharged 350 and I began to start loving trucks. It had a 454 at one point but I reverted to the boosted 350 after a year or so. Bottom line is that V8 trucks are awesome to the point that a life long import guy can love them.

I agree on that. With a swap, the whole engine can be kept intact and original for a future custodian if it ends up becoming museum and not a driver. Many cars in Leno's collection are like this where they are modified for drivability, but done so can be put back to original.

From a British perspective, it's crazy when he says the stadium is on his street, yet it's 5 miles away. 5 miles away & on the same street are in no way synonymous in the UK, it really puts the different scale of both countries into perspective. Not a car guy whatsoever, but absolutely love this channel. Been a subscriber when the channel was at only 5 thousand and Ed was still figuring out how to get the best audio. Every video had different quality of audio, but i knew already that the channel would blow up because it was a perfect format of tell9ng quick, bite size, interesting car stories. Then Ed told the “Kimmy” story and i knew that was the one that was going to break the channel and open the flood gates to people like me (non car owner) to subscribe. In the last year or so however, I feel like it’s getting a little stale with having the same people telling their 25th story, which of course isn’t going to be that great of a vid since it’s their 25th story. It would be cool to have more “new” random people tell their best stories so the channel would be an outlet for normal people that can tell their unbelievable story. I have 3 stories that I know the audience would enjoy. One of them involves a night where I was in a very bad place with drugs and alcohol. I wasnt drinking, but the drugs i toook pretty much knocked me out at the last red light before i was home. House was just 200 yards away and my eyes shut involuntarily only to open my eyes when i felt a presence in the other lane. There, right next to me, was the local police. One driving, one passenger. I was so ripped, i wasnt giving off the correct amount of panic. I looked right at them, and said the following, “Oh… my fault… Ive had a long day at work and live right there (i point to my house). Somehow and someway, the police gave me a nod and told me to get home and go to sleep. “Absolutely sir. Thank you and stay safe out there! It was 3am at this point and i was too ripped to properly understand how ridiculously lucky I was! I was SOOO oblivious to how lucky and how my life could of beeen turned upside down, that when I arrived in my driveway, i realized that i only had one bar of gas and that my grandma was using the car the next morning to go to church. I forgot to put gas in earlier and didnt want to put her in a situation of low gas and she only used gas stations that pumped for you and they weren’t open until after church was done. So i reversed out of the driveway and was back on the road to get some gas. And i was going to drive back to through the road that the police were still on, looking for dui’s. That’s how unbelievably out of it i was that within 30 seconds, i already put aside the moment of me being caught being passed out at a red light. So now I’m back on the road and driving through the spot that the police usually post up, trying to catch drunk drivers. I passed that spot and entered at a part of the road that was darker and not as lit up and the rest of the road and i was going right around 45 mph (speed limit 40) when out of the blackness, my headlights lit up the rear of an suv… and it was easy to see that it was the police suv. The very same suv that I just had a conversation with just 3 minutes ago. Disclaimer: so ive made it very clear that i had no business being on the road. The only problem was the fact that I was soo over the line, that i was at a point where I couldn’t even tell right from wrong. If i wasnt as messed up, i would of realized the situation and never would of driven. So my headlights picked up the rear of the police car and i was shocked at what i saw. I wasnt just about to rear end these cops… but i saw that the police car had NOOOO lights on at all!!! They were seriously “parked” in the middle of the two lane road and i only had a split second to see the rear end and to try to hit the brakes and turn the wheel so I wouldnt hit them straight on. I rather hit them at an angle then going straight on bumper to bumper. Of course, since i was dumb enough to drive in that state, I followed up my stupidity and was really at this point shooting for the “Darwin award” by not wearing a seatbelt. On impact (me going 45 and the police were in park) I went head first into the rear view mirror, splitting open a gash right above my eye causing blood to squirt everywhere. I was knocked out for just a split second. I came to with my head on the front console and pretty much standing in my suv. I jumped out of the car and the impact totally knocked me from being high as heck, into being totally aware and alert. After driving for over 15 years, this was my fist real accident. As i exited the car, I couldn’t see a thing and quickly realized it was because i had so much blood on my face and it got into my eyes. I then quickly ran over to the front of the police car and asked if they were alright. They answered they were fine, but i should go lay down on the grass off to the side of the road. I looked a lot worse then how I felt. My entire face was covered in blood. Ive heard a bunch of stories of drunk driving accidents where the drunk person would hit another car, where the victim would pass away, but the drunk wouldnt have a scratch on em because they didnt tense up on impact. I got in another accident a couple years later that was half the speed, but i was the one that was hit and i had enough time to try to brake and turn my way out of the accident, but knew i wasnt going to avoid being tboned and totally tensed my body up and it HURT SOO much more than the 45mph into a parked car while staying loose. So back to the crash. I’m on the ground waiting for the ambulance to come, and I’m just waiting for the hammer to drop. These cops just woke me up at a red light, only to see me 3 minutes later after i rear ended me. I was confused though, as to why they were parked on the road with all their lights off, but kept it to myself until they read me my rights or announced i was going to be arrested after i got my eyebrow stapled back in place. I still couldn’t see anything, and asked for one of the firefighters to retrieve my cell phone from the car so i could call my dad. I needed someone there to look after my best interest, especially since i was already under the influence, but now i was concussed and blind front the blood. I was in a vulnerable spot. Surprisingly the one cop involved with the crash retrieved my cell and dialed the number for me. So i got ahold of my dad and he was there under 5 mins. My dad later told me the next morning that he knew i was messed up when he saw me pull in, and then quickly pull back out and leave. Parents would always say, “nothing good happens after midnight.” Well, this was 3 am and he def knew something was possibly wrong and he turned on the local police scanner to hear my name being check for any previous felonies which I did not. An ambulance ride later and I’m now at the hospital to get my eyebrow reconnected to my head and my dad walked into the room and waited for when we were alone and asked me what am I being charged with. I answered that they haven’t said a word. We both were on eggshells waiting for the nurse to walk in and take my blood and then I would find out how much trouble I was in for crashing into a police car under the influence. A couple hours pass and it’s now 6am when I got discharged. No blood test, not even a convo with any police. We were absolutely shocked! I was hesitant to tell my story about the police car being parked in the middle of the road because I knew how messed up I was and wasn’t a reliable witness so I only told my dad what I THOUGHT happened. My name was in the paper the next afternoon and it was just a little write up that, “Kevin Eastwood was involved in a car accident with LP police. Alll three people involved were taken to the hospital to take care of non life threatening injuries.” Didn’t mention a crime or anything of the sort. People on FB were perturbed that there was no mention of wrong doing, and at 3 am to boot just made it unbelievable. Here is when the story takes a turn and is probably why I only got a ticket for careless driving when the police report stated that I was speeding at 45 and rear ended the police car that was driving at a “lower speed.” Since my name was in the paper, a local man contacted me on messenger with a story of his own. He lives right off the road that the accident occurred and he saw the entire thing. He was walking home from the bar and the thst police car thought they could get the guy for public drunkenness so they tried to hide in plain sight. He saw the police cruiser pass him, to then use a turn around to come back for a second pass on the other side of the road. Then he told me what I deep down thought I saw. The cops slowed down… and turned off their lights and ended up coming to a complete stop!!! He kept walking and saw my car coming down the road and knew a solid 5 secs before that I was going to hit this cop car with no lights on, which is exactly what happened. I think that he saw the entire thing, shook the police and put them into a situation. I def helped them out by not coming out with a “wtf were u doing on the road with no lights on?” And kept my mouth shut which I believe ultimately helped me out. I dodged a big one and could of died and killed others too. I went to rehab 2 weeks later and have been clean ever since then. “Knocks on wood.” That’s my craziest car story

They could do all that and still not match the output of a mild LS. In the spirit of Cannonball, I feel like 6.0 or 6.2 LS would be the hot ticket, paired with a 6 or 8 speed trans. But that's just me.

Rite on,, im an 80's kid and I remember in early 90's people would put deep dish rear wheels with fat micky thompsons on the normal long bed versions. I always thought that was a pretty bitchin way to roll around in a dually. But totally understand wanting to keep this one in its original glory. Sick find...
