The $60 iPhone 6s Restoration - 5 Second Battery Life! - IOS 10.2

Ғылым және технология

Watch as Hugh replaces the LCD, home button and battery on his $60 iPhone 6s 16GB on IOS 10.2.
Apple refused to service this iPhone even under the iPhone 6s unexpected shutdown replacement program. In the end I just replaced the battery too, as recommended by a Senior Adviser at Apple Care!
The iPhone would go from 100% charge to flat in 5 SECONDS!

You can actually potentially save the original home button quite easily by checking to see if the clicking piece properly shorts together the 2 ends of where it’s connected and if it doesn’t, you can easily desolder it without removing the backplate from the button and solder on a new one. Of course this does take some skill but I’ve done it before and I was able to save Touch ID by replacing just the mechanical piece that acts as the actual button. Usually that’s the piece that breaks so it’s nice to replace just that and retain Touch ID

William what do mean?!?! I’m just a everyday random person commenting about this stuff, I’m not trying to spread no propaganda. I’m comparing what I see.... LITERALLY. Idk what differences you’re talking about, but I’m talking about the looks. They got the same design, with Touch ID and everything. The sizes are pretty much the same too. There really wasn’t that big of an upgrade from the 6 to 7 or to 8. For everyday users like me, they could all do the same thing. Play games, call, etc. I’m not some type of a professional photographer trying to take photos and trying to look at all the little details and upgrades that Apple has brought to their camera.

There is actually a large difference when you bump up from a 6 to a 7/8. The 7/8 are significantly faster in read / write speeds and they both have a better batttery life, the 7 has a haptic feedback fix and the iphone 8 has an A11 Chip which is easily superior to the 7 and 6.

No no. When Apple replaces a device, they OOW the old device and transfer the remaining warranty to the new device. Then they take the old device. If they resell the device, they Brightstar it and push it out of the Apple system as a standard device and give it was 78 designation to show the device was sold off as a lot. This device was not given that designation: either the process was done incorrectly, fraud may have been involved, or the device was stolen.

Just bought a 64gb iPhone 6 for $50 au needs a new battery. The battery counts down like seconds and dies randomly,it also won’t turn on if it is to cold so leaving it plugged in overnight will make it die because it gets to cold so I have to put in front of the heater for it to power on but the phone is in amazing condition, there are no cracks or scratches anywhere. There is only some fading from where the case didn’t cover the back near the camera and Apple logo but the screen protector was the original one from when the phone was new and there are zero scratches on the screen at all. I hope it is still in warranty so I don’t have to pay for the battery replacement. I’m not sure if the iPhone 6 had a battery replacement program though.

  • @ThisUserIsDead

Yep. Plus you're also paying for the brand. My smartphones battery lasts me all day (8am-10pm). I'm not bashing iPhone users, I'm just not willing to pay over £500 for a new iPhone where I can get a different brand smartphone for a bit cheaper along with keeping up to date with apps and other such things. If apple made their smartphones a bit cheaper along with tweaking their software slightly so it's more user friendly (in my experience) I would consider buying one. Until that happens, I'm going to stick with android as a personal preference

Josue Montalvo yes you can, but for unlock the icloud you need to replace components such as the motherboard, and that is almost the same price as the phone so not worth it

+Alex D Well one way to do it is to bypass the iCloud Lock by using bugs that exist in the software, and it will let you use the phone but certain features will not work.

The only thing that'd beat 2 seconds is 0 seconds, but that technically wouldn't count because the battery would be fully dead, unable to even try to keep a charge. But even then, maybe it'd bootloop or something

Hugh, you can jailbreak this phone(iOS 10.2 is having a public jailbreak) and install a mod to have iPhone X's swipe up to go home feature. That way, you can have your touch ID working and instead of pressing the home button, just swipe up.

I had the same experience with Apple too few weeks ago. Only that I have replaced the battery myself (original battery was at 82% health with over 500+ charge cycle & out of warranty) just 2 months before Apple actually acknowledge the battery problem and issue the replacement. They flat out refused to change the battery, even when I still keep the original battery and I was willing to pay for it. I was dumbfounded by their logic. thinking of getting the higher capacity battery and doing it myself soon.
