Picking out a pair of sandals with little experience is a challenge online. Your helpful video gives much-needed insight into which way to turn without being too hasty. Thanks!

Yall are awesome!! Thanks so much for the breakdowns.
Love these recommendations. Thanks!
Thanks for the video guys!
This was very helpful, thank you
Thank you great vid!
Late comment, but I’m chiming in because I feel like the Chaco Banded Z/Cloud is an awesome choice. Definitely worth a look. The new strap design is amazingly secure, and there is NO toe loop to shred your big toe and cause it to go numb (maybe just a problem for me). I wear mine for most of my warm weather hikes, occasionally with docks, with no issues.

I suffer from plantar fasciitis and find Chacos to be very supportive and comfortable.
This is incredibly helpful. Thank you!

Glad it was helpful!
Xeros are great until you have to wear them in a high current river. The soles get caught in the current and fold up under your feet. Hard to describe but you need thicker soles for rivers

Yeah I agree with this, I had the z-trails and wanted to use them for that kind of river crossing/exploration thing, but the thin sole which is it's selling point, is also it's downfall. Folds under while moving through water, catching the current, feels sketchy af. Also, the hard rubber of the sole is ice skates on any kind of wet surface, so basically a dry ground sandal only.

@@Errcyco I miss real Tevas. Got mine in Flagstaff. Indestructible.
I just bought my first pair of adventure sandals (Teva Hurricane XLT2), but more I want all of them, haha! Great informative video, y’all!

try the bedrock cairns next Keith! they've totally blown my mind, especially for the weight
Yooo, just hopped on this because I just bought a pair of tevas, but loved the attitude of this review
Thank you so much for this video. Now as a first timer researching sandals I know there is a way when you do a video that comments on the bottom what section you are scrolling to because I have to keeps going back and forth to find what you said about a particular brand.
I have owned tevas chacos and shamas but when I started with bedrocks that was it for me. Bedrocks are absolutely comfortable and super secure on my feet.

Jose I couldn't agree more - seriously nothing is even remotely close to the bedrocks. I'd been wearing them for a couple of years and finally had to make a review because I'm obsessed with them haha

Oh ya
So I live in Phoenix and I like to hike the mountains here and other areas of the state . I have a pair of Chacos that by far have been the most durable. I have a pair of Zero sandals that I use for everyday wear and occasionally hiking depending on the terrain. I personally like the sole and I feel they are good for your feet and back . I have a pair of Tevas that I’ve had for a long time and served me well until my baby left toe developed issues and wearing the Tevas irritate it now. No way related to the sandal though. All three are good . The Chaco is the the most durable and the Xero is the least durable which makes sense as they have the least material. I almost got a pair of Bedrocks recently but since half my hiking is going uphill I thought the front of the sandals would get snagged in the front toe area resulting in stubbing mostly my big toe . The sole looks excellent and definitely more durable then the Xero sandal. I’d still consider using it for everyday use plus some trail hiking to replace the Xero sandals.
Looking into adventure sandals for this coming spring. My friend who is an avid hiker said boots and closed toed shoes are a much better way to go. What are your thoughts about this? I prefer minimalist and barefoot shoes whenever I can and I'm trying to get into hiking a bit more with my kids.

Hi Riley! It really depends on what you're using them for and the climate you're planning on going out in. Adventure sandals have come a long way over the years and they are way more capable than they used to be. I just reviewed the Bedrock Cairn Adventure sandals on my channel and I've just been blown away by them. I backpacked 3 nights and 4 days in the Sierra with them and a 13lb base weight pack. There are definitely some minimalist sandals that I would not bring out in the backcountry so make sure you're being picky and find someone with enough of a rock plate equivalent to not get pulverized. I hope that helps a bit!
I mainly walk around urban areas but I’m also into the barefoot shoes, although I think they are over priced… anyway, I was looking into the Teva Original Universal Urban sandals and Xero Z trail sandals. Is the Teva urban sandal flexible, low arch (I prefer no arch), low sole (not to thick or to cushioned), Overall, is it close to being a minimalist sandal without being a minimalist sandal?
@Terradrift
Жыл бұрын
Teva sandals tend to be comfy and flexible, but definitely not barefoot. They all have some arch support, though it’s not aggressive. I’d definitely say if you prefer a low sole and little to no cushion, the Xero sandals are going to be the better choice! Tevas are definitely squishy and more supportive!
Just tossed my cairn 3d- the last straw was, my outside buckle kept coming loose.
I’ve owned many Tevas but all these others look super nice. I wanna try any that work with socks on really. And for me Teva has always been true to size for anyone wondering.

Toe socks are an excellent way to wear socks with some of these!
i hear that the Xero ‘buckle’ on the side breaks often - do you know if their manufacturing production is the same now as it was years ago (have they fixed that problem) ?
@Terradrift

We’re unaware of any buckle issues. Haven’t had any problems after years of owning Xero sandals.
Which one have an outsole with most grippy one on wet surface? (wet rocks, muddy, wet root tree). @terradrift

The Astrals are designed specifically for water-based activities, but honestly, none of them perform poorly on wet surfaces!
Teva Hurricane XLT2 are unbelievably uncomfortable for me. The thick stiff soles, the scratchy straps & my pinky toes are restricted in them! I have never tried barefoot shoes but I think they would suit be better. Gonna sell my Teva’s & get Xero Z-Trails.
I first notice your cap haha is that AC Valhalla Cap? If yes, where did you buy it 😂

@@gummybear41283 middleweight bear retro. Takes about two weeks of fiddling to find the right adjustment settings, but is then worth it. The retro style has minimal chaffing or unpleasant contact of plastic parts rubbing feet. The middleweight is high enough off the ground that dirt is less likely to get under toes, but low enough to get ground feel. It’s great.
Those sandals are all good , but the best … Earthrunners for several reasons.
