Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The 55mm f3.5 Micro Nikkor has a stellar reputation as a macro lens. They are readily available and very affordable. Make sure you also get the PK-13 extension tube for 1:1 magnification. This vintage lens should be in every mirrorless camera users arsenal for macro photography.

Great video, this lens brings back a lot of memories. In 1975 I bought my first Nikon, the camera was a sexy black Nikon F2, and being a nature photographer, I paired it with the 55mm f3.5 Micro Nikkor, only because I couldn't afford the 105mm 2.8 Micro Nikkor. At the time I had heard the 55mm f3.5 Micro Nikkor's optics of the lens were near-perfect, and it was one of the sharpest lenses on the market, and possibly ever made. I used it for about fifteen years until I traded it for a different lens, which I shortly after regretted. I got back into my macro photography, but now I am using a Nikon D850 and my dream lens, the Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 D, and loving it.

The 55mm 3.5 was the 1st used Nikkor I bought on ebay as I had only used the 18-105 & 70-300 before I was impressed by the build quality as well as the image quality , it is a joy to use and is used with the pk 13 & pk11a &ES-1 copier on a full frame d600 for slide photography.

Nice images! I inherited a 2.8 version but the aperture was frozen. Just bought an f3.5 In mint condition to use with a PB4 bellows and PS4 slide copier. I can hardly wait for it to get here! Thanks for all the great info.

Beautiful images! I recently purchased this lens in the Pre-AI version for using with a Nikkormat, but of course can use it on other cameras as well. Looking forward to trying it out! Cheers!

It is a wonderful lens. I keep thinking I should buy the Olympus 60mm macro, but why since I have the 55mm Micro Nikkor? Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thanks for your informative post on this lens. I have been looking for a good manual focus lens to try out some macro photography. I saw one available on line and found your review. I found a good opportunity to buy one inexpensively. I am looking forward to trying it out up at the lake cabin in northern Minnesota.

I agree with you this lens is fantastic. The only problem is when you put your extension tube on it, will not focus to infinity any more untill you take it off again. Enjoy your channel. thanks.

Generally AI is just as good as AI-S, and I tend to favor AI versions because they are way more affordable. However, I shoot the FA, and for Micro shutter priority can be an advantage, so for the 55 Micro I prefer the AI-S version, but for mirrorless, or older Nikon SLR's other than the FA, this AI version is definitely first choice.

@@dongummphotography Those of us who use an FA love it, but the Nikon purest cult members, they look down on any Nikon that doesn’t weigh a ton :). The FA and FG, however, are sweet cameras as far as I am concerned.

@@artistjoh the FA had some amazing features for it's time. I also had the MD15 motor drive as well and it was a sweet combo.

Too many hobbies? Wash your mouth out. There’s no such thing. Your stock just went up when you said you build musical instruments. Especially if it’s guitars. I’ve been playing electric guitars for almost 50 years. Great video! I put photography on the back burner back in the 80’s, but I have recently taken it back up. In the micro 4/3 format, I have an Olympus EM-1 Mark III. That’s a great camera! And I have adapted some vintage lenses to it and they do really well. But I like that Olympus 12-45 Pro lens pretty well also. It’s not as heavy as it looks. I also like other formats. I have a Fujifilm XT1, XT2, XT4, and XH1. And a Sony A7 II for full frame. Also I just bought a Nikon Z5 in case I sell the Sony. It should be here on Monday. I love the Olympus though : ) Your videos are great! And I have subscribed. Thanks for taking the time to do it!

Thank you for your kind words. I do have quite a few hobbies. The instruments I have built include both acoustic and electric guitars as well as some odd violin family instruments like a pocket violin and a viol. Currently working on building a baritone ukulele. I also love bringing old broken instruments back to life. One of my current projects is a badly broken and cobbled back together 1933 Gibson L00 I bought at a thrift store for 25 dollars. I am glad you enjoy the videos. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

I absolutely love the rendition this lens produces. Its by far my favorite lens I own, I use it with my Panasonic S5. I wonder what other lenses are similar to this one, I own the Nikon 50mm 1.4 AIS and the 28mm 2.8 AIS and they are not as good. The 28mm AIS particularly is quite bad compared to this one, has much lower contrast, the image is not as smooth and the color not as saturated. I wonder what other vintage lenses can look similar to this one. I recently ordered the panasonic 20-60 lens I want to see how it compares with the 55 as a wider angle and a do everything lens. Do you have any recommendations for good lenses that can look similar to this one?

The 55mm f3.5 Micro Nikkor is an exceptional lens. The Nikkor 105mm f2.5 AI lens is also a wonderful lens with great image quality and color rendition. I also like many of the Asahi Takumar lenses like the 55mm f2, which is super sharp and contrasty with beautiful color. Another favorite is the Leitz 35mm f3.5 Summaron. The f2.8 version is a bit sharper at the edges, but a lot more expensive. I have reviewed all of these in my videos. Thanks for watching and commenting!

A classic lens, which will meter on many Nikon bodies. I love mine, which I shoot on my D200. I'll tell you, there are so many great old MF lenses to be had these days at super bargain prices.

Very true and best to use on a dslr like yours. Is there any advantage for using these lenses otherwise. I used them on a Z6 with adapter but focussing with the green dot I find better. People will start to see that mirrorless is not better but cheaper to make and they are cheaper made..

Does the extension tube change the focal length to 110? Since it makes it 1:1 magnification Im curious

No, it just extends the lens thus increasing the image size on the sensor
