Jaws: The Revenge definitely belongs on this list. The offspring of the original Jaws shark comes looking for Sheriff Brodie's widow and his family, and FOLLOWS HER from Amity on Long Island all the way to the Bahamas to exact its revenge. It swims so fast it actually beats her plane there! And that's basically the plot of this...thing.

Truly, the worst movie ever made was 'Manos: Hands of Fate'. The only way to survive a viewing is to watch it with riffing by Mystery Science Theater 3000. The second worst is 'Red Zone Cuba'. Thankfully, they also riff that one. And one for Christmas is 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians'. MST3K has introduced me to a lot of bad movies :)

@@ernestcruz6316 'Glen or Glenda' is an admittedly bizarre but still fascinating film. It was very nervy for its time, with subject matter that barely allowed any level of theatrical distribution in those years. It's probably the best film Edward D. Wood, Jr. ever made (not saying a lot, I know), as well as his most personal.

I like, but don't love "I Know Who Killed Me", "The Sweetest Thing", "Glitter" and "White Chicks". I'm amazed Paul McCartney's "Give My Regards To Broad Street" didn't make the list. Another music star's "vanity" project, in the vein of "Glitter". I actually saw both at the theater. The stories were a little underwhelming, but it was nice to see the musical performances in both films. The "Sgt. Pepper" movie from 1978 also belongs on this list.

I have a shirt 👕 that proudly proclaims I ❤ Bad Music & would like to get the same one for movies. I do have the 3 hour version of Heaven's Gate & its a solid film. The critics didn't like Isabelle Huppert whose English was clearly her second language but she's beautiful & only in a handful of scenes.

The films I've seen from the list that fully deserve their bad credentials are 'Showgirls', 'Howard the Duck', 'The Sweetest Thing', 'Plan 9 from Outer Space' (a strong contender for the single worst movie of all time), 'Heaven's Gate' (beautiful to look at, but boring to watch), and 'Battlefield Earth'. Movies from the list that I think are better than indicated here (though not necessarily good pictures) are 'Glitter'. 'Swept Away', 'Meet the Spartans', and 'Batman and Robin' (nowhere near the worst film of all time). The worst movie I've ever seen theatrically is 'Almost Heroes' (1998), Chris Farley's penultimate film role, also starring Matthew Perry, and directed by Christopher Guest to a screenplay by Mark Nutter, Tom Wolfe, and Boyd Hale. 'Gigli', incidentally, is pronounced as 'Jeelee'.

I'm a proper movie buff and Southland Tales is my favourite movie, it's a very surreal parody of the post 9/11 US and it's great. It's been revaluated now and gained a full cult following, but it was definitely unfairly judged due to the (terrible) rushed Cannes Cut, the feature release version is excellent.

when Street Fighter came out I had my Parents take Myself and 3 Friends to see it in the Theater and it's not a good Film at all but it's Campy and Cheesy and it was Raul Julia's Final Film He was dying from I think it was Stomach Cancer when He Played M. Bison (the Guy in the Red with the Cape) and He Nailed that Part Perfectly. He did the Movie because I think it was his Kids who were big fans of the Games but He Studied actual Dictators in perpetration for the Role to really make sure that M. Bison came off as Authentic. Raul Julia really put so much more effort into the Movie then it Deserved. with all the Behind the Scenes weirdness that went on it's amazing that we got a Movie at all really. I heard a Story that Jean-Claude Van Damme was on so much Nose Candy that one day he refused to Shoot any Scenes because he thought his Muscles were too small and he wanted to spend the day working out instead. I still watch some of Raul Julia's scenes from the Movie from time to time. I still Laugh at Freddy Got Fingered. It's a decent showcase of Tom Green's kind of Humor. The Room is definitely a Bad Movie but I think it's worth Watching because it's just Baffling. what makes it fascinating is that The Director and Star of the Film tried so hard to make a good film and utterly failed in every way imaginable. it comes off like a Movie written by aliens Impersonating a Human it's just so awkward. like every single thing about it is just off somehow.

Larry, I'm really curious about your opinion on this. My absolute favorite film of all time (and it has been, since 1988) is the 1976 drama/horror "The Clown Murders". It's one of John Candy's earliest appearances and he's in a serious role, no less. He's not exactly the star of the movie; rather it's very much an ensemble cast. A cast of largely unknown Canadian actors. It was filmed in Ontario (Brampton, I believe). Do you live relatively close to there? Anyway, it is often piled on for being a horrible film and said to be one of the only John Candy movies to avoid. I totally disagree. It's an awesome slow burner, with plenty of atmosphere to spare. The scene in the barn with the clown is one of the creepiest sequences ever put to celluloid. The score, by John Mills-Cockell, is eerily sublime. I think the movie is panned because of how "talky" it is and basically takes an hour for things to start happening. For me, that's okay... because what that hour does is establishes the characters' personalities and motivations rather well, so by the time the plot thickens you're actually invested in the characters. This makes the final half hour very interesting. I was wondering if you've ever seen this relatively obscure Canadian gem, and if you, like myself, think it's great... or if you instead agree with most everyone else and think it's one of the worst movies of all time. Just try finding a positive review of the film on KZread. I formed my opinion of this movie in 1988, when I first saw it on VHS. So, my contrarian opinion was not "just to be different", because back then, there was no internet for me to read all the negative opinions of the movie. I thoroughly encourage watching it, if you haven't already. Especially since it was filmed in your general area (at least, I think it was). I'm currently trying to generate support for getting this movie released on a boutique label blu-ray. Or better yet, on 4k. 💿 Thanks for any reply. 😊

A few of these would be on my list, namely "The Sweetest Thing," "Plan 9 From Outer Space," "The Room," "The Happening" and any of those terrible "Airplane!" knock-offs. But I could come up with dozens of movies worse than the majority of this list. "Red Zone Cuba" might be the most boring thing I've ever seen in my life. "Manos: Hands of Fate" and "Troll 2" are both infamous messes. "Things" is probably the most actively annoying film I've ever seen. "Grizzly 2" redefines the term abysmal. If my memory serves me right. I saw a lot of Howard the Duck on TV and thought what a crap movie. 😣 I was almost in the middle of my Air Force career right afterwards and got orders for Iceland. I had to change planes in Philadelphia. I walked into the USO lounge and holy Hell Howard the friggin’ Duck was on the TV. Van Helsing (spelling?) was OK. They could have done better with some of the special effects (CGI). I wish that the movie makers would go back to old time effects a little. I watch the old Doctor Who and recognize the low budget effects and costumes. I often think it’s better than watching poor cartoon effects with real life Actors. Tom Baker in an interview says that he “likes the cheapness of it.” I agree. Thanks much!! 🎻🙂😎

I agree these are all bad (except Heaven's Gate which has its good points). You say you haven't see Jaws 4 - the Revenge. I have ... and it is bad. Interesting that it is on the list along with Raise the Titanic - both Michael Caine films. What is missing is a third Michael Caine film, the Swarm. He called these his 'paycheck pictures', done strictly for the money. I saw him on Carson once where Johnny asked what were his favourite films. He said Alfie and The Man Who Would Be King. When asked about his worst, he said The Swarm and Raise the Titanic. Jaws 4 hadn't yet been made. I think his film The Island is also pretty bad (written by Jaws author Peter Benchley). It's a tough list as there are way more than 50 bad films. Many of them worse than most of this list. I make it a point to stay till the bitter end when I've paid to see a film. One of the few films that I actually walked out of before the end was called the Judas Project. Uggh.
