    Thats why I rarely play randoms. I mostly play on teams with friends. Everybody has off games and you dont need someone screaming at how trash you are when you are probably calling yourself trash in your head because you are having a bad game. Although, what is immensely satisfying is when they are talking shit, then make a bone head play that results in a goal and they leave immediately.

There's only one objective. Keep hitting the ball Defeatist: FF if they opposing team has 2 more goals than you Afk The Booster: Boost > Ball Mr Fancy Plays: Always going for aerials + ceiling shots The Trainee: Tries to learn mechanics in competitive Self Proclaimed Captain: Spams All yours, need boost, etc Coach: Stops playing to explain every detail of a mistake that you are fully aware of Battery hoarder: Afk to swap batteries multiple times a game The foreigner: Plays in regions that they're not from and lag the entire game

    @@rafaelclp I can concede that always going for them and missing is obnoxious, but there's also an element of practice that can only happen in game. Free play and training packs are great, but they don't give you real experience. Personally, I know I'm not very good at those shots, but I will go for them when it makes sense, like you said. Even if I think I'll probably miss, it's worth it to go for an aerial since I'll get to the ball before someone else assuming I hit it.

  • @TheBenoliPx

    Plat for me lol, but I think the worst is the one that isnt necessarily overly aggressive but just doesnt know how to position themselves on defense. This kinda guy will end up behind you in rotation, but if you put ANY faith in him and lose a 50 50, you find him weaving his way through your boost trail. Which is the kind of player I find at EVERY rank below champ whenever I dont have a full party.

    I absolutely hate the rotation-cutter. I solo queue a lot of 3s, GC level, and still so many people cut the rotation and then don’t go for it. It’s so frustrating to play with. Also, in 2s, I queue with a lot off toxic ballchasers that get angry at you when the opponent scores, even though they’re mostly causing it. Oh, and another personal favourite: “The person that stops playing (seriously) if we are losing.” This kind of player is toxic and they sometimes go AFK, start ballchasing or owngoaling, IN RANKED. I don’t care about my rank by any means, but I would be lying if I said that I like to lose or rank down. I mostly find it fun to play ranked at a high level, but some people ruin your day and trying to stay positive is really difficult.

    I think you missed the point of over defender, there is nothing wrong with playing defense, but if you are sitting in goal you aren't really helping, the opponents can easily break as there will be no pressure in midfield from you, and you essentially have no way of slowing down your opponent to allow your teammates to have some time to get back and help you. As last man back, your primary job is to slow down the opponents to prevent a numbers advantage rather than trying to 50/50 because your opponent doesn't have to shoot on goal but rather just get the ball past you, giving them a lot more angles to try and beat you.

  • @chriskennedy9339

    @chriskennedy9339

    And his point is that you don't even have the chance to be part of that pressure, because your 2 teammates continuously cut off your path to the ball in an effort to be the hero, so you rotate back for the inevitable possession change they give up.

And I go back and forth between aggressive and passive depending on my mood. Some days I'm just in the zone and I can play faster than I usually would. And yeah, I fell from the cusp of Diamond 3 to Platinum 3 (2v2) so I'm a little disgruntled. :P Also if I can clearly see that a teammate doesn't have a handle on the ball and the other team is creeping up then I'll go take it off them. If they've got it though, I'll let them do their thing.

    You and I are basically the same guy. I would say most of my passes are crisp and juicy, but occasionally I will realize after a pass that I should have just shot the ball. I mostly play standard and I find that standard defensive rotations and goalkeeping in Diamond and above are just too hard to outplay without passing. Maybe if I had pro level ball control and dribbling skills I might be able to do something but, usually, I make the first guy miss and he tackles me or I can't recover before the 2nd challenge. With a good infield pass you automatically make the first guy miss because he always goes for the straight up challenge. And, if your pass is any good, your guy is going to get to it before the defender reading that pass and moving to intercept. That means 1 good touch and it's a 2v1. Even a mediocre passing play has a higher chance to score than trying to 1v3.

    karaffeltut a rotation cutter is someone that breaks a rotation. For example, if the ball is towards you in goal, and your teammate is in the corner, if your teammate cuts the defense, he will go up for the aerial instead of leaving it for you. In some cases, rotation cutting can be good: for example, if you are rotating back, and the ball is coming in from the air, if you notice that your teammate is too scared to go for it, it is good for you to cut the rotation and go for it, because if neither of you go, then the other team gets a free shot. Anyways, i hope this clears things up

  • @dakincostello4167

    In most cases, the defender in goal has the best angle to save and clear the ball, so the rotation should be to let them have the challenge on the ball and fill in for them in goal by rotating behind them. If they miss or the ball is returned towards your goal, you're in position to make the next save knowing that your team mate is now rotating back behind you. This provides a defensive presence in goal at all times until a successful clear out is made and you can push up on offense. A rotation cutter is one who cuts in front of the keeper, ruining their angle, confusing them (should I try to clear? Uh oh they dunked on us -or- I'm gonna clear it, leaving an open net if i miss), often centering the ball for the offense, and just plain breaking the flow of your defense.

    Honestly, rotation cutting is barely even a noticeable thing unless you're playing at a very high level. Trust me, the people that think they even know what rotation is barely ever actually play to it as a) in pub matches, no one can ever rely on their teammates knowing it, so you just over compensate for them b) rotation is not really an exact science, even to the most tactically astute, as every situation is different. It's easy to know not to be aggressive and hit the ball anywhere. It's easy to know staying in goal and not challenging is dumb. It's easy to know constant passing doesn't work. But knowing when and when not to challenge in a myriad of different situations and positions... eh. Some times you make a judgement that's wrong or right. The only time noticeable rotation cutting even happens and annoys in pub matches is when the same person goes for the ball each time. We already have a term for that; it's called ball chasing.

    What about those people that spawn on defense and their immediate need is to go get the rocket boost in the corner instead of playing defense? The game spawns you with plenty of boost to stop a shot if it comes your way but it seems like many players rather give up defense to get that extra boost allowing in many goals. So annoying to me.

    @@matrixarsmusicworkshop561 I'm newb in this game (playing for 1 week) but for me it seems like it's working too so far. I can get boost and go back to defence position before ball will eventually come. However it's risky while playing with randoms because they can be slowpokes sometimes when starting from kickoff position so enemy might be able to kick ball straight to goal. Second condition is when both teams kickoff power will be equal so ball will stay on the middle and enemy player will decide to go after the ball from defence. position.

    The rotation cutters who suddenly ran out of gas are the hardest to play with. The other 4 your can pretty easily adjust your play style to. Of the easiest I find the perma defender and the ball chaser to be equal. For the ball chaser, long clears away from the opposing team. It almost doesn't matter where you hit the ball because you know your golden retriever is already on it! On the plus side, if you have an opponent who is constantly dribbling, the ball chaser can easily force a flick out of him right into your possession, then steal the possession from you and center it to absolutely nobody. For the perma defender, mid field aggression and constant shots on net, no rebounds, no passing plays, just hammer the net, eventually you'll catch one off rotation and score the empty net.

  • @noiJadisCailleach

    @noiJadisCailleach

    6 жыл бұрын

    Come to think about it, SunlessK didn't give any tips how to deal with these playstyles. Good tips. Personally, i find the rotation cutter to be pretty easy to play with. When i see one, all i have to do is just do everything faster if it's still possible to step up the pace even more. Since, when playing with randoms, we have a feeling-everyone's-game-before-going-all-out stage. Rotation cutters are aggressive with their rotations but have a hard time making judgement calls. So i just mind my space between me and him when i'm behind the guy and take him out of the equation when you see a moments' hesitation from him and instead switch to minding the opponents intention possessing the ball. When in front of the rotation cutter, i try to keep the offensive pressure as long as i can until i need to fill up my tanks, when rotation cutters see this, they usually match up to your playstyle instead and rotate normally. Ironically, basically beating rotation cutters at their own game/playstyle. It's a hassle but it works for me! I hate over-defenders the most though. The thing is, with over-defenders, you're always one man down when trying to take out a team one man up. I do what you're doing. But on the other side of your "eventually", eventually, you could make a mistake with your touch, get out-boost-stealed, bumped/demoed, misread a bounce, outplayed by the defending team, opposing team gets a favorable 50/50 that they would make a quick coordinated counter attack against one lone defender with low to no momentum at all - which - we all know, can be easily read by any Okay dribbler. So how much more if a whole team is trying to outplay him. The number of negative things that could happen for the team just outweighs the number of positive things you could do for the team when a perma-defender is around. Fucking hate them. Demo guy is the easiest to use of them all. Since their behavior is predictable and you could use their demos to capitalize on a whole lot. And they'd usually stop doing it once the pace goes faster and most of the time, everyone is in the air. p.s. dafuq!?! i wrote so much!

Over defender only happens about 10-15% of the time, then rotation cutter, over passer and ball chaser occur until he gets demo'd 2, maybe 3 times, then he only goes for demos. He's turned me into a very defensive player because if I do go for the ball it almost always ends up being a double-triple commit (other friend is actually good enough to force me on defense, so I don't mind him so much) It's very frustrating.
