The 5 (Five) - There's Time

Музыка

In my opinion, The 5's "There's Time" is arguably the greatest Aussie single of the 60's not to enjoy major success. A Brisbane band who later moved to Melbourne, this tough, guitar driven feel good rocker, with pop hooks galore and Beatle-esque harmonies, did become a minor Top 40 hit in 1966 in their new home town. Virtually guaranteed to have you dancin' in your seat.

The other night i gave an older gentleman a lift home , he was quit frail and in need of help… turns out it was ian jacobs , the bass player from this band. A very nice guy and told me of his time with the band. Nothing exciting i know but still was amazing to meet such an awesome guy

Got to this song listening to the great "Of Hopes And Dreams And Tombstones" compilation, wondering whether the a-side of the single - "I Can't Find Her" is available at all. Must tell that the Aussie bands of 60s are just my favourites, almost every obscure recording is a real gem, but almost no info around about the bands themselves

Well I'm not sure about the whole band (The Five) but my dad was the Lead singer and he's doing good, still a really good singer and guitarist. I'm his daughter and I play the drums in a band I made, because how inspired I am of him. Every once in a while we sit in the lounge room and jam out to Beatles songs, me on drumkit and him singing and playing guitar. I agree, Aussie bands of the 60s are the best! I love hearing stories from when my dad was in the band.

@@edeewilliams sounds incredible, thanks for sharing, I wish I could sit with my son the same way, but unfortunately so far he's not very interested in music, while "guitar" was the first word when he started speaking, as they were al around the place. I wonder if it would be possible to record your dad's stories some way - there's not many real documents about those times around, but the ones I could find, like Andy Scott of The Sweet telling about their gigs and tour life, are extremely interesting. I'm trying to bring the music of great forgotten bands to the people around, so started to make karaoke versions to sing in the local pubs (now it's quite possible to do it at home using free software to fiddle with the original music), The Five is on the list, maybe you'll be interested, the only problem is that I couldn't reproduce few moments in the song. Anyway all the best to you and your family, keep rockin'!

I hadn't heard this record before today Mick. This should should have been a big hit. Who knows where the group would have gone had it been successful!
