Gimlet 0:42 Bee's Knees 2:45 Clover Club 4:31 Gordon's Breakfast 6:34 French 75 8:34
I'm a newbie in that cocktail theme and trying to do my first cocktails. The Clover Club is absolutely brilliant and one of my favorite so far. Thank you for a whole new world.
The Gordon's Breakfast is one of my favourite summer cocktails. I usually just opt for lime juice instead of chunks of lime, though, and I kick the worcestershire and hot sauce up a little bit.
I'm with you on gin: also my favorite cocktail spirit. Gimlet is my go-to party cocktail. Just so easy to mix, everyone gets impressed, and it tastes great (especially after one or two too many and people can't tell it's not overly complex). And the French 75 is my go-to celebratory cocktail. Great drink, somewhat underrated these days I find. Never tried the Gordon's Breakfast though. Might have to go get some hot sauce...
Love you mentioned the "Southside"...one of my favorite drinks. When at a bar I have to ask for a "Gin Mojito" bc nobody knows Southside lol

Steven Johnson I tried it for the first time at Anvil Bar & Refuge and it was an instant favorite! I also like to have it served up with a splash of champagne instead of soda water.

@@zechariahcifuentes7002 YES!!! Anvil is one of the best bars out there!
I hope the next one is whiskey I would love to see one this with that spirit
Gin being my favorite spirit, and my interest in cocktails having spiked higher than covid cases, I was excited to see this video in my feed. I've mostly been sipping Corpse Reviver no. 2's so I was glad to branch out. i tried the Bees Knees first and disaster struck as I spilled my shaker all over the floor. About a shot was spared and it was quite tasty. i just made a Gordon's Breakfast and it was fantastic. I had a little speedbump as my wife had turned all of our cucumbers into quick-pickles but seeing as the drink had significant acidity I decided to forge ahead and they worked perfectly. I used Hendrick's to accentuate the cucumber. The only thing I can complain about is not having enough, should have made a double. Clover Club is next and probably an Old Pepper from the whiskey video.
Instead of chickpea (garbanzo) brine or egg white, you can also find (or make) something called gomme syrup. It is a simple syrup thickened with gum arabic that can also create a nice foam on top. Like the egg white, it also ads a silky texture to the drink whereas the bean juice only serves to improve the aesthetics.
@ogreenius
4 жыл бұрын
Gomme syrup makes relatively low amounts of foam vs. egg white though, and unlike egg white and aquafaba it can only be used to substitute for simple syrup and only up to the amount in the original recipe, otherwise you mess up the flavor balance. A potentially better option if you want to avoid egg or aquafaba is a "foamer" like Fee's or "Ms Betters Bitters Miraculous Foamer". But if you do want gomme syrup local company Small Hands Foods makes a good one that is carried at K&L and Total Wine, or Liber & Co at Bitters and Bottles (who deliver).

What is the difference between a garbanzo and a chickpea? I wouldn't let a garbanzo in my mouth. Ooookay, I'll show myself out. 🚪
Nice! The French 75 has been my go-to during quarantine, and it’s nice to see it get some love! Can’t wait to try Gordon’s breakfast!
I’ve been looking at Gin cocktail recipes on KZread this week and was surprised you didn’t have a big video. Low and behold you have answered my unasked question. Just in time for my company’s virtual happy hour tonight.
Quality content. Very glad I found your channel. Keep up the good work
Brilliant! Thank you for these straightforward and classic gin cocktails. I have been adding simple cocktails to my at home bar for dinner parties and cocktail parties. These are all wonderful additions. Cheers!
Great video! First guy on KZread that explains so easily and straight forward how to make syrups. Thanks!
Glad I followed the links from How To Drink! I appreciate the accessibility of the four regular ice cubes vs large blocks that need cracked or cut.
Some interesting cocktails I was unaware of except the gin gimlet is basically my of my go to drinks for when I get home from work in the evenings. However as a beekeeper the Bee's Knee's is definitely going on my list of gin cocktails.
This compilation of easy-to-make gin cocktails is particularly welcome during these COVID-19 quarantine days. Would love to see additional episodes for whiskey and rum.
A video like this for every spirit would be amazing, thanks Nick.

SGS_Gurk Goat cannot argue 🙂
I had Bees Knees for the first time a couple of days ago in Brighton, MA. It was a random pick and so delicious! The first taste reminded me of my favorite, the Aviation. This Bees Knees was served with a hibiscus flower which I didn't realize was edible. I ordered 2 more Bees Knees and made sure to eat the hibiscus 😋😄
Please make this a series!! I always want to make the cocktails but I dont even know where to look for essence of lavender butterfly wing bitters and the other crazy stuff they call for
My favorite mod to The Bees Knees is using white rum instead of honey. Or a slightly smoky blended scotch. Lemon and honey syrup is a base for lots of awesome.
Love the recipes! Just found your channel and i'm loving the dedication to preparing cocktails. My favourite "easy" cocktail for gin is a fruity flavour with about 2/5 of gin 3/5 of mixers. Example of a about 10oz (3dcl) drink: - Aviation Gin - 4 oz (dry gins work best from my experience) - Schweppes BL flavor - 4 oz (any bitter lemon tonic or bubbly drink could work) - Fruc orange & lemon flavour - 2 oz (you can use any soft drink with fruity flavour, experiment your preference!) - Chop up 1-2 fresh ripe peaches into little cubes and add them to the mix - Add ice by preference and gentle stir Note that this does become a very fruity and refreshing drink with hints of gin.
Just made a bee's knees following this recipe + threw in some sprigs of thyme in the shaker. Absolutely delicious
My favorite part in all these is just watching his facial expressions when he drinks it at the end lol
I like how you didn’t just say “add syrup” and actually explained how to make it and how long it lasts. I never knew it was so simple and it’s one of the ingredients that puts me off
Love you deliver your content. Thank you. I’m a novice bartender and over learned a lot!
man your mixes are always so mouthwatering
I've used mead to replace the honey in the bee's knees. Works quite well! My favorite is with a homebrewed hibiscus-mead.

Oooo I need to find a recipe for home brewed hibiscus mead also now
Please do more of these!!! My favorite kind of content, even when all the cocktail channels I follow are doing them. You should also include some drinks to use up that bottle of campari or vermouth you bought for a specific cocktail, and now need to use up before it goes bad. Same for random syrups, or a list of the simplest tiki drinks! I'm a lazy mixologist, okay?
Quality no frills demonstration. Other recipes call for those exact same ingredients but with 15 minutes of unnecessary rambling. Superb!
Love this. Well-produced and informative. More, please.
loving the way you present your cocktails
Thank you so much! Just bought my first bottle (Gin) and the result was spectacular
Thanks for the clover club recipe. Made me one yesterday. Much respect
Made your Clover Club tonight. Great recipe! Thank you.
Gimlet was the first gin cocktail I learned how to make! Perfect to get people started. Cheers
Awesome episode! Loved the Jennifer Ginesson joke xD - Yes please, do one episode with simple Whiskey cocktails!
Love these kinds of videos! Would love to see one for all the main liquors, whiskey/rye, tequila, brandy, rum
This is awesome and definitely will try 1 or 2 of these
Great vid Nick, I'd love to see what you do with brandy. My fave's a French Connection, preferably with an absinthe mist over the top.
I love this video!! Would you consider doing a video on the applications of dark rum in cocktails? Thanks for the great Gin ideas!
Would love to see a Mezcal feature! Such an underrated spirit!
I’ve always made a bee’s knees with gin, honey, grapefruit juice, and pineapple juice. Worth a try.
Fantastic video. While I do love your really fancy cocktails (made your song of ice and fire a couple times) I find myself making these quite rarely since I need to spend so much on ingredients every time. This is really good for the lockdown period!
Bloody Marvellous! Thank you!
On the French 75 (Soixante Quinze) -- The gun had been somewhat derided as being not really powerful and of short range. However, it's breechblock and recoil design and fixed ammo gave it a high rate of fire -- about 15 rounds per minute; also its carriage design made it easy to transport and deploy near the front lines... and it was produced in large numbers. And so the drink.
This was wonderful!!
Thank you so much for the quick reply
I’m loving the gin puns! This video is the gin-uine article!
Everyone gave me Gin for my birthday since they know I love it, glad to know I'll have plenty to work with!
Glad to see someone else who makes a gimlet with fresh lime juice. None of the bartenders books or recipes I see on the internet use fresh lime juice. Try floating a *super thin* slice or two of cucumber on it for garnish.
LOVE that Gin that you are using!
I like how you you use the shake time to tell a little story; very nice
Bee's knees is not only very tasty, but it's aroma is so good. The scent of lemon is very pleasant
Fabulous simple cocktails 🤘🏼
Excellent videos so well done Cheers 🥂
Just muddled some fresh strawberries in the Gimlet, amazing flavor!
Classic cocktails are such a treat when done well.
Gin and Jazz, You Sir are a real gentleman. Cheers to that...
Clever use of "Take Five". Respect!
I like the way you managed to give the identical look when you were tasting each of them
Fantastic medley, yes, definitely more like this.
I love this. More please
This was great, thank you!
Five solid gin sours. Great video. I prefer the French 75 prepared more like a Tom Collins, over cracked ice in a Collins glass rather than in a flute.
Love Gimlets! I use Hendricks and garnish with a slice of cucumber. Very tasty!
loved the video, please do more like this.
I'd love to see a similar video with Whisk(e)y! Maybe even some specific cocktails for the different whiskey styles (sherry-finished, peated, Bourbon, etc.)
Yes!! More of these videos please!
01:05 The way you walk when you pick up the sauce pan for the simple syrup and walk towards the stove looks like you've given up on life. In a good way. And just for about 30 minutes.

Jeez, it's like two seconds, what did you want a quickstep, waltz or maybe a limbo?
I just tried making the gin gimlet with some mystery citrus (probably lemon-lime hybrid) from my backyard and some gin from the Original Spirit Co., a local distillery near Melbourne. It was really good. Great recipe.
my go-to gin drink is definitely a lime gin fizz. always refreshing and great tasting
Too many French 75s will make you just like an artillery casualty: legless.
Spectacular video
The way you made the Clover Club is rad! Eliminating the hassle of making raspberry syrup.
Love to see some good simple Rum recipes!
Great video! Gin is one of my favorite spirits. I'd be curious to see what you would make for a Jagermeister version of this video, except being allowed to add other spirits to it.
I'd love to see one with mezcal. I really only use mine for Oaxaca Old Fashioneds.
The gimlet video from the Educated Barfly suggested there might be a reason to use lime cordial, though he suggested making your own for quality's sake. Lime cordial can be made from whole limes, rather than just the juice, so if you just use juice you might be missing flavor and some bitterness from the peels.

Yep, that's definitely another way to make the drink in a more traditional way, I'd argue the juice isn't worth the squeeze, and in the spirit of making simple cocktails I went with the modern approach. Sorry for all the puns.
Cheers! May I suggest a hot twist on a classic? Serrano Smash... same as a Basil Smash, add serrano when shaking. Boom
All these gin puns are murdering me, Nick You're diabolical
All of the above, but especially a rum one. I have a white rum and a nice aged rum that I'd like to put to good use.
New to the channel thanks to this video! Loved the cocktails, I'm already drinking one. Please do Rum, Whiskey and Tequila. Heck maybe even sparkling wine haha
I would love to see videos like this for whiskey and vodka too. Great work!

Literally anything liquid + vodka= serviceable drink.
..my favourite is pre-prohibition era drink called the Gin Buck which is made with Ransom's Old Tom Gin (which has a a lovely blend of botanicals and has a slight amber colour), Cock & Bull ginger beer made with cane sugar (no "pedestrian" brand ginger ale made with HFCS) and lemon juice served in a Collins glass and garnished with a slice of lemon on the rim. This is the perfect summer quencher.
simply great
I would love to see a video like this for the whole whiskey family (Scotch, Bourbon, Rye, etc).
Here in Russia, we have similar cocktail to French 75 and it's called Northern Lights. It's vodka plus sparkling vine and other ingredients for your taste, it is very popular among students, lol.
Best Gin Cocktails thank you.
Just made one and is very good

I second this. With three bottles of real Cuban Havana Club (3 year, Especial and 7 year) chilling in my liquor cabinet I really want some simple additions to my usual assortmemt of daiquiris, mojitos and Cuba Libres.
I love learning new drinks and the history of alcohol plus you make good videos and you're talented. Thanks to your videos I feel like I get to live out my fantasy as a bartender. Just out of curiosity, have you ever gotten hammered during a making of an episode? Love your work.

A local speakeasy jazz club does a Bees Knees with Pimms and lavender bitters. It's so great we make it at home now that we can't go to the club.
