The 48 Laws of Power Summarized in Under 8 Minutes by Robert Greene

In this video I summarized my book, "The 48 Laws of Power" in under 8 minutes.
"The 48 Laws of Power" originally published 25 years ago, is a book that explores the principles of power and how to obtain it. It is based on the philosophy that power is necessary for survival and success in any field. In this book, I have collected the wisdom of great thinkers and successful people throughout history to create a comprehensive guide to achieving power.
These laws range from "Never Outshine The Master" to "Crush Your Enemy Totally". Each law is explained with historical examples of those who have successfully applied the principle to their own lives.
Overall, "The 48 Laws of Power" is a guidebook to understanding power dynamics in our society and how to use them to your advantage. It provides valuable insights and strategies for anyone seeking to gain power and influence in their personal or professional life.
I hope this summary has piqued your interest in my book, and I encourage you to read it in full to gain a deeper understanding of the principles of power. Thank you for watching.

I read the summary of this book on Littler Books and thought some of the advice are very questionable. Would anyone actually want to interact with someone who "get others to do the work for you, but always take the credit", or "use selective honesty and generosity to disarm their victims"? Thoughts?

Thank you for the 48 Laws of Power. I am 72 years old. I don’t have a relationship with my family. I worried about who would help me if I fell ill. For over a year, I had nightmares of horrible things happening to me as I aged. I reread the 48 Laws of Power 2 months ago hoping for wisdom. I fell ill last month. My doctor failed to find the cause of my illness. The next day after the doctor visit, I lay in bed feeling sick when I remembered 2 laws: enter with boldness (36) and be formless (48). I opened my laptop and sent gift cards to people I knew and ignored the advice of my mental health counselor who told me that they may question my motives. Within minutes I felt well. My friends never questioned my motives and were happy I reached out. I terminated the services of my counselor. I decided I am going to face my future with boldness and be formless. Now I sleep soundly with no nightmares.

i am one of those rare people who don't chase power. i don't like to give orders, but i really hate taking them. greene's work helps me to find that sweet spot in between the lions and the sheep. kind of like a honey badger, or a skunk: not antagonistic, not a victim and if you leave them alone it will all be cool. i am happier than i have been since i was a little kid and filled with a sense of freedom and potential. as always, thanks.

I love Robert Green and appreciate him and his books . I bought several books including 48 Law. I was outshining my manager and got psychologically bullied . I didn’t understand why , felt hurt because I worked so hard to make my manager proud and to get her approval. Until I come across 48 law , read the first chapter “ never outshining master “. Robert Green is chosen one , to bring this knowledge into the world .

“A lot of this is not about using these laws. A lot of this is about defence.” When I first listened to this audiobook my impressions of it was “this is a self-help book for sociopaths”. Perhaps it may have framed these lessons better. Instead of saying “this is what you should do” on certain chapters such as Crush Your Enemies the lesson could have been “Your Enemies will try to Crush You. Here’s what to Watch For.” This is how, as I remember Robert Greene framed his lessons in the superb Laws of Human Nature. Regardless how you feel about 48 Laws of Power The Laws of Human Nature is a must read. Also check out Mastery. While I have mixed feelings about 48 Laws, it has been 8 years since I listened to it and would be open to revisiting it. Also, congratulations on your recovery from your stroke, Mr. Greene.

I’ve seen a lot of people call the book “evil” and that’s just crazy. I’m a devout Christian and find this book most valuable and not a shred of “evil” in it. What it does, is speak directly toward human nature and makes you more aware. For those that are more on the religious end it will absolutely help you guide through life in a way that will foster success while also keeping your values and morales (whatever those may be) as your guardrails. I love the book because it’s direct and objective and then you can figure out how to apply it to your own life. It’s not “an evil book that teaches you to do bad things”. It’s data, explained well and you apply it how you see fit.

This book is amazing to be honest. And it truly made me see a whole new layer of reality. I can deduce and predict situations, I can see who people actually are instead of believing the mask they give to the world - you're able to see behind the mask. Similar to Dantes from Count of Monte Christo who had to deduce what happened to him - who betrayed him, how did he end up in prison. And there are many moments like this in our life, and this book - 48 Laws of Power - gives you the tools to see who are the enemies in your life pretending to be your friends, and because you're able to recognize them, you're less likely to get backstabbed by them.

You can observe the lessons in this book in areas like prison, organized crime, business, and government.

The book has helped me understand WHEN someone is using power so that I may plan/strategize accordingly. When he says "this is defense" is certainly hitting the nail on the head. As a person of faith, i can really understand why religious people think with their emotions than they do with their minds. One thing they fail to understand is that many religious demagogues use these same laws to keep a tight grip on their followers. What Greene offers the world is the secret of every tyrant garbed as a saint or a lamb. He did an excellent home work before coming to the public with this remarkable magnum opus. When i read his laws of humab nature, i could relate to a lot. Greene is that teacher and public guide who says it as it is and shows you how to live and make the best of this life. First I was afraid of even listening to this book…because malignant narcissist I met did almost everything described in this book to seduce me. I was frightened when I found out that such book exists. I was worried if people are going to use this book as their guidebook to do bad things… and overpower victims. However I realized that it is important to see the World as it is. The shadow part of the World is not outside of me. We are all connected to it. We have to face it so we can transcend it to something better… we have to know ourselves And know our enemies in order to win… life, individually. Thank you for providing your years of experience and wisdom Roberts! I will use it to navigate this World so I don’t get deceived.

I heard about this book yesterday! I watched a video detailing every law last night. And today I find that the author has dimerised the book 3 days ago! I felt like I already live by these laws! Maybe 40 out of the 48 are just my personality anyway! Started thinking maybe I’m a psychopath lol.. but I feel like I win in life the only difference is my power resides at the bottom! I am the top of the bottom and I’m happy with it. I seem to get what I want when I need it and I’ve always felt like the universe favours me above all.. they call me king Henry

I'm halfway through the audiobook now & I've been listening to it on Audible & it's truly been eye-opening and at times even disturbing to come to grips with the brutal tactics of people. At the same time, it's been very insightful to understand the true nature of human beings. It's worth reading/listening to as it does prepare you for the real world so you can navigate it properly and with the right perspective. Thanks for the information Mr. Greene, your work has been very helpful and I look forward to learning more from you catalog. Take Care,

It would be cool if you made a web series where each episode adapts each one of the 48 Laws of Power. You could add updated references to events that have taken place over the past 25 years along with elements from your later books like Mastery and the Laws of Human Nature

Thank you for this book! This is a most fascinating read. I’m almost done with it. I listen to the Audible version while reading/annotating the actual book. I’ve read this book through the eyes of playing Poker - how to become successful in the human elements of the game & will be summarizing my new Poker Laws of Power (for my eyes only) once I’m finished. The book has given me a new understanding of how the world operates. Your Human Nature book is next!

Robert I hate to say this but I've literally been sitting on your book since about 2012. So 10 or 11 years I have been in possession of The 48 Laws of Power. The day I bought it a good friend of mine said "You don't want that, it's a not a book for someone good like you" ( I dont remember the exact words but the gist and feeling is there). I've been eyeballing your book as I've; moved from house to house, from state to state, and from job to job on my bookshelf. Telling myself I should read that; and that one memory pops up and I get distracted and do something else or read another book. But I always tell myself the same thing I did the day I bought your book. Which was "This is going to be more than useful when I crack it open". So I guess what I'm saying is in an honor of your 25th anniversary of your publishing it I swear upon my health that I am going to begin and finish reading your book by the end of 2023. It's crazy I've clocked countless hours of watching and listening to you on several podcasts talking but still never opened up the book. Here's to the 25th anniversary year, of the 48 Laws of POWER, being the biggest and best year of sales so far!!!
