So I actually did volunteer work for Bob Crowley post season. We talked about his process getting on the show. So what I learned is that Julie from Vanuatu got him recruited onto the show. Julie was Bobs former student in high school. Another interesting fact is that Bob was a last minute replacement for the season, his spot was supposed to be filled by Jimmy Johnson who went on to the very next season. They needed someone else for the older male archetype and he fit it. Btw I love bob and hope to do more work with him again. He loves doing interviews from what I know and when he learned I was a superfan he forced me to have questions for him.

The difference with Sugar trashing Corinne is that she was right and Corinne deserved it.

Gabon is a season that's "so bad; it's good." This is a high tier season imo; mid-high at worst. It's a lot of fun and I'd rewatch for sure.

I heard someone claim recently that the reason Susie left her bath at the auction so quickly was because she pooped in it. Assuming this is true, we were one jury vote away from having a Survivor winner who paid $340 for a hot bath and then dumped in it.

I can't believe there are people who excuse the explicit classism in what she said. She made fun of sugar's job and the fact she was homeless (real classy) and she still has fans meanwhile Candice was only mildly annoying and the hate she still gets from casual viewers is insane. The hate of the homeless by stuffy privileged people is going to be my thirteenth reason.

So glad we got some footage of Crystal and Ken's ponderosa! Those two episodes seem to be scrubbed permanently from the internet, so happy we got them here.

Gabons tribal council set is one of my favorites it has such a unique vibe it’s very wide open like another planet

Gabon is what every season should be entertaining. Like who cares if the game play is messy. This season is filled with CHARACTERS. What a wacky insane nutty cast and it’s glorious.

Honestly, I’m glad Corrine never came back fro Heroes vs Villains. She’s more of a mean spirited villain rather than the more fun type that we did get on there.

I hate using this word but it’s gotta be said. I don’t care if Marcus, Corinne and Charlie have respectable careers, they’re losers for how badly they treat people. Randy might not have been easy to deal with but at least he doesn’t try to front like those three scumbags did. He got royally burned by Kenny and Crystal and he still had the decency not to isolate them. Anyways, sorry for the rant Once Upon An Island, great video as always and love Gabon!

I do not think it takes much out of you to not isolate someone it is more shameful coming from him because being gay during the 2000s in most cases made you isolated during adolescence so if anyone should know how it feels it should be him.

It is funny because what makes Corrine's career (which IMO is no different than a drug dealer) any more valuable than the two teachers which is by far a more noble profession. The world will survive without people pushing oxycontin without a second thought it will not survive without someone like Bob.

@@vannakinder352 I agree with you 100 percent, especially when it pertains to Charlie. Imagine being 29 years old and still seeking the validation of others. Gag. I mean you could expect behavior like this from Marcus or Corinne because both are extremely privileged and it shows. As an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, I know being gay in the 2000s and before was completely unaccepted by society. Even in the early 2010s when I was in high school, I could count only a handful of openly gay classmates and other people were too scared to come out because they saw the bullying that came along. Charlie is poor representation of gay people for his behavior.

This season was perfectly placed to breakup 3-5 incredibly awesome and serious seasons. It was a good break and a lot of fun for the train wreck it was.

YES! The hot messiness of it was such a reset and a great setup to the levity of Tocantins. God knows we needed those two actually fun seasons before the Russell era

No matter what, Survivor Gabon is one of my most favorite seasons ever! I loved the premiere, cast, location, tribal councils, landscape, challenges, boot order and immersion into the setting! I just wish Susie had won. I also wish Matty, Gillian, Kenny, Susie and Crystal could play again. Lol I'm glad Marcus, Charlie & Corinne were voted out when they were, but they should've been more mature at Ponderosa.

She's being too humble because she flipped the vote away from Marcus' onion alliance in the most pivotal move of the season, took away all their power, won the first and last individual immunities of the season to secure her own spot, and didn't throw an immunity idol into the ocean. Corinne & co acted like whiney babies in reaction to Susie & Sugar who outplayed them. @@gregatkins2156​

Lot of people like him as a winner. A lot also think Sugar played the most dominant game which I agree with. Personally I dislike Marcus/Onion alliance's weird bitter superiority complex toward Susie & Sugar who outplayed them. Susie would've been a more interesting winner than Bob imo, but he's alright. She made the most pivotal move of the season, blindsided the season's biggest threat and took him out, had the social connections to know the most accurate information, and secured her own spot in the finale by winning individual immunity. Even Randy wishes he tied the vote instead of voting for Bob, just to make chaos. @@londonbordeaux

Not going to lie, that dinosaur ad did make me wanna watch Gabon again, it struck a good balance betweem funny and dumb.

Jimmy Johnson was supposed to be on this season. He found out he had blockages in his heart and wasn’t medically cleared. Bob Crowley ended up taking his spot

Thanks for doing these breakdowns about the game and, contestants. One thing I've noticed on most of your uploads is that you use WAY too much saturation. Other than that, these 'breakdowns' are pretty good!

That Gabon teaser was so hilariously bad

26:29 proves to me that had Charlie and Marcus not been on the same tribe, Charlie would have been one of the more memorable characters of the season. Super nice guy who got ensnared by a couple of prima donnas.

All I am going to say is Bob is a ♓️ and as another ♓️ would have done the same to Randy.

I couldn't stand Corrine, most hateful vapid person ever cast, I thought Marcus would have been more down to earth but geez-us . . . and Charlie didn't exactly come off to well because, well you know "popularity" just yuck

Never met her, but Susie is from my hometown (she was on after I moved away)

I love gabone, one of my favorite seasons and the first season I picked the winner from day one. It was such a train wreck it was perfect.

Randy looks and sounds like John Malkovich here.

I feel like I understand Corinne's withering sarcasm and non-supportive manner better after hearing from her brother: 20:30.

I’m so glad the news bits Jeff did back in the day for Survivor are few and far between now. They are so cringe. Even watching them back in the day was cringe. What a time to be alive.

Thanks for the video, some interesting info about what is by far my least favorite season. I felt a lot of the cast was unpleasant to watch, and their actions during and after the season leave a bad taste in my mouth

Gabon is one of my favorite seasons because of how catty and petty the cast is. Sure the gameplay is pretty bad but it’s so entertaining

Bonus secret: At the end of Corinne’s jury speech to Sugar she mentioned that Sugars a stripper. They sugar said that it wasn’t true but Corinne knew that she was lying to she said it a couple more times. I’m assuming that’s why sugar said ok and Corinne gave her a look after this. Corrine’s theory to why they edited it out was because sugar was “America’s sweetheart”. Source Corinne’s cameo to Hannah

Corinne and Eliza were on TAR31 if you haven't watched it, and they have a similar snarky energy that I think Courtney and Corinne would've had

I truly believe this entire cast is on the spectrum. I haven't found much info online about this, but if you really pay attention, you can tell. Still one of my favorite seasons.

@@mildtotemperate Well, it would be inclusive of them and to make sure no one has an “advantage” fair if every cast member was on the spectrum to some degree. Not all ASD presents the same. My comment isn’t an insult, I think it’d be incredible and a testament to how ignorant the general population is when it comes to ASD.

I have never seen any of these survivor commercials... WOW they're terrible for being a major CBS production!

I include a Bible verse at the end of all of my videos since everything I do, I do for the Lord. These verses boil down to Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.
