I really want a martial art tournament where every type of martial arts can be used even if they aren't actual arts and you just learned them yourself like basic punching and kicking where you can basically beat the crap out of your enemy but if he puts His hand up in a high five symbol or is knocked out you win the match but there is a mat you can't get off of and to enter the tournament you must first fight someone to actually enter and whoever wins that fight (which would be like a fight in a tournament but a judgement fight) would get a ticket to enter if their strength was shown and proven

I love when people trash karate and say how great MMA is. News Flash...MMA is ring/sport fighting. Karate is for self-defence.

MMA as one said rely on Judo which is a modification of Jujitsu by Jigoro Kano. In other words MMA, being a one on one fight, rely on Jujitsu(Japanese MA and the like in other asian countries) which uses holds, chokes and strikes.I think the strength of jujitsu is also its weakness. Jujitsu is excellent for one on one fight(strength) but not for one on 2 or more fight. Karate and the like is just very good for one on one fight(weakness) but excellent for multiple attacker since it is more mobile as it relies on being constantly on stand to be able to kick and deliver a punch. As the chinese said grappling and punching and kicking arts compliments each other or the counter measure to each other example: you kick and it will be counter by a grappler using grappling kicking defense; and you grab one to apply your grappling techniques and they will punch or kick you to knock or to keep distance. In the end, it is the man behind the art and technique that gives the art its effectiveness in a fight. You have seen in MMA those kickers and punchers grappled to the floor and submitted in the end; and you can see grapplers being knock out to the floor by a kick or punch.

is more of a sport Karate. U get points for scoring and u can KO ur opponent. If they wore gloves and head gear punches will be allowed for sure, but when it's just knuckles and bones it's not safe. Real Karate (Okinawa Karate) is the real deal. They use many weapons too; Sais, sickles, katana, bous, etc. I did Karate for 9 years from 8-17. I'm 27 now, gotta family, outta shape, lol, but I miss it. Watch some documentaries and maybe you'll change ur mind!

To be honest I can agree with born, Karate has too much of a wide stance. I can say this because I use to practice traditional it runs in the family. I lost interest, however I moved on to my animal styles since Tiger fits me perfectly. Again karate focuses on wide stanza and drawn out battles between reversals and kicks. If anything you rarely see grapple or punches because of the point system or ragulations, for my style you either enter the naga or sign a waver, this style is just basic.

And fyi, karate is not all about strength, pay attention to the fluid movement and where they are kicking. If any martial arts was just about strength, the lingering affection for style would not exist. You can kick as hard as you like and move as fancy as you like, but once that kick is caught it would be the other way around on whom is destroyed as you like to say. Martial arts is about enduring, so before you be little him on his personal op, atleast learn the basics.

Ive practiced ryushin karate, muay thai, and jiujutsu. Even escrima, and arma sword and board, in a real fight technique doesnt matter what matters is strength and speed. No matter the amount of technique you practice. The human brain will always be too slow to react to a swift strike. Even here the only blocks are when the arms are already idly in the way of an attack that relies on the square of contact. I E the body. But if a person has fast switch ups the human brain will always get confused because it will always look for a pattern. Also if a person can push off 150lbs+ of force you think you can withstand it? Even if you block id you can barely lift 90lb off of your chest you think you can block a strike that can push off double that? Exactly the reason why bruce lee started body building so he can fire off those powerful strikes.

They don't punch to the face in tournaments 'cause then the fights will last literally seconds and it's also a safety issue. This isn't UFC man. These guys don't fight for multi-million purses. Speaking of MMA, you've never heard of St-Pierre? His main martial art is Kyokushin Karate which is the style on this video. How about Andy Hug? Chuck Liddell? Lyoto Machida? Frank Mir? Takanori Gomi? The list goes on and on. All these guys started and use it as their main fighting technique. Kyokushin...

from guys who arent wearing any gloves and have knuckles, shins, and feet as hard as rocks from conditioning them so much. A recent example is the jones vs Belfort fight that just happened recently. Jones kicked Belfort with a sidekick that was very sloppy and was relitevely weak in terms of techinque and amazingly Belfort fell down like a little bitch. Most of the guys on this video wouldnt of even flinched from that impact. So stop talking shit when you dont know crap bc no one wants to

In my country there is a martial art which once you learn even for weeks of proper instruction you can wear a blackbelt and such skill will assure even a frail woman to beat if not equalize against a 10 footer with body as big as zwarzeneger. They call the martial art shooting guns. By the way I rspect all martial arts because I learn also about it.But to me my preferential bias is shotokan karate or wing chun kungfu is what I prefer.

I agree with saal2k7. The rules of this style are pathetic. They need to get modern and use mittens or gloves and get proper semi or full contact. The idea is to be able to execute full techniques Terrible to watch, even if it is a tournament. Having these rules is a disgrace to Japan.

I remember karate in the old days being non-contact and points scored by judges even for bad techniques. Weaklings could beat strong opponents with this system. I logged on to this site and discovered the system has not changed much in karate, sparring rules are pathetic. Just punching to body and legs like play fighting. Of all the tournaments I've seen the rules of this style is a joke to watch and just silly. These guys will get beat in a boxing ring even by novice boxers. They need to wear gear with gloves and open up to see who is the best fighter. Even semi with gloves would be better than this silly sparring like two school kids trying to pinch each other. It is absolutely pathetic to watch and not martial arts at all. What a laugh and to say this is in japan.
