I always get frustrated when a horse checks out in every area but the recency one. It's hard to find horses coming back within 12 days accept the lower level tracks.

True. Though at many smaller tracks like the Ohio circuit, the Oklahoma circuit etc you often see horses coming back quickly. On the class A circuits like California, New York, Kentucky and Florida you can stretch that time line to 25 days

@@rpmhandicapping9701 The only thing I've found is that at the smaller tracks when there is a play if the horse is REALLY old you should be careful.

1 win in last 2 races, 3 wins in last 9, in the money in last 5 of 9. My question is, wouldn’t it be better to actually claim the horse then bet him at 3/2?

Maybe, but claiming takes on huge expenses.

Find that a horse that was 5 lengths or more ahead of 3place horse and loses by 1lenght or less 12days or less age has good chance of being in the money as long as it is not going up in class

As would be respected most are on the shorter side pricewise - avg. mutuel was $5.67 over a 122,000 race test spanning 2008 - 2019 - 41.1% win rate. Thanks for your comment
