Hello & thank you. Can you tell me, what does the doctor mean certain type of Gleason 7 are candidates for active surveillance. Does that mean Gleason 3+4=7. And then would it depend on the pattern 1-5. So could you have a 3+4=7, GG2 and less than 50% of all biopsy’s are positive and do active surveillance?

Sir, My Dad is having carcinoma prostate and had 18 chemo, them went for oral medication(Enzalutamide 160mg) past 2 months but today the PSA went up to 9.654 from 4.7 exactly 28 days before. His RBC count has also decreased to 2.85. Could you suggest the best solution for the same. Your advice on this regard will be highly appreciated.

Thanks Doc! I go tomw for my consultation. My Gleason is a hard 6, Grade 1 (2 of 12 cores showed adenocarcinoma rt apex and rt mid) DRE was normal, PSA was 7.2 prior to biopsy. I should be a good candidate for AS, correct?

What did u end up doing?

My dad was diagnosed and he is very quiet about this, he didn't tell us and my family found out through his friend. But now he's going to the doctors and is only given tramadaol and pain relieving tablets. I don't know much but is this okay?

From watching this video would i be correct in saying that localized treatment, radiation, is done by itself in low/intermediate (3+3, 3+4) situations. without hormone therapy? My targeted mri fusion biopsy found one 3+4 and three 3+3. PSA 7.12. Radiation and hormone therapy was discussed and I opted for radiation only. I'm 71 this spring, 25 years non drinker, non smoker, gym 3+ times a week for 20+ years so for my age I am still doing okay. I was a pilot for 40 years, retired 8 years ago, and with 6 month medicals as you get older you have to start looking after the body. A paycheck is great motivation. It was a quality of life decision, re hormone side effects, why i declined the Hormones at this time. Radiation Oncologist was not averse to my decision saying he would be monitoring me and if indicated the hormone therapy could be started at any time. I think for me this is the right decision but you wonder.

What does it mean the type of cancer is so low grade. What test tells you - the Gleason score? Or is there a Germanic test?

6 pm the psa rose to .5362 so I did radiation and went to .0008 .1 year and a half after it rose to 0.04. And 6 months after that it rose to .127 what's my option now

Apart from the stages,are there types of prostate cancer?

This is not the same as my doctor's advice. My PSA and Gleason Score is on the lower end yet I was told that Hormone therapy would not be enough.

I’ve had my left kidney removed my prostate removed now doctor is wanting to do radiation now and the hospital is 64 miles away to have to go back and forth for two yrs! I only get social security $1054 a month which sucks! And I’m $68k in debt! ! I’m 68 yrs old!
