That first stage Li Mei and Johnny Cage were fighting in looks amazing, I think it was called the Dragonfly. The 3d era did have some really cool stages

Deadly Alliance and Deception had really beautiful stages. Unfortunately Armageddon was bad and looked bad. The stages and characters models had less textures.

It's actually funny that MK1 Li Mei gets an air-exclusive flip kick, that was born from a bug in KaF. You could set certain specials that weren't meant to be aerial to work in the air and that was one of them.

I really hope to see Kompetitive History of Shang Tsung.

Always saw Li Mei as the female face of the 3D era (counterpart to Kenshi as the male face) for being one of the newcomers of DA that stayed to Armageddon and gameplay at least to a pleb like me stayed consistent. Not so much for her design suprisingly, her SMDA still remains my favourite of hers.

I have a soft spot for Li Mei, and most of the characters from Deadly Alliance. DA was an awesome MK game and I have fond memories of playing that game for hours in my mid-teens. I am very excited for Li Mei's revamped storyline in MK1 and I'm curious how it will go. She appears to have a large role in MK1's story and her role as a trainer for Kitana and Mileena is very interestig. A bit like the Bo Rai Cho for the sisters.

Gonna be awesome seeing her play a major role in a mk story after being a minor side character from DA to MKX. And even better she is voiced and modeled after one of the legendary martial arts actresses Kelly Hu

She was the canonical winner of the Deadly Alliance tournament, and the first character to win a MK tournament in the series other than Liu Kang.

@@wl4316 Don't forget MKX. He was also playable in the Game Boy version of the original MK, but it probably wouldn't be worth mentioning due to how awful that version apparently is.

He is playable in mk trilogy, mk4 , Deception, Armageddon, and mkx, you could also hack the game and play with him in mk9 like they did with Shao Kahn.

Weirdly enough, Li Mei's 4 hit kick, if timed right, you could cheese Moloch in Deadly Alliance. Though the timing is... well, a bit tricky.

Mk meta and competitive history are probably some of my favorite vids ESSPECIALLY for 3d MK since they are such oddball games compared to the 2d

I never went back and looked at the old Li Mei, since I did that for Tanya back when she came out in MKX and I thought she looked awful. Old Li Mei looks better then I expected though.

Hi Mustard, one of Li Mei's strongest Baji Quan combos goes this route: pop-up, pop-up, 4, FF2. The second pop-up in a row lauches the enemy high enough to allow you to end the combo with standing 4 followed by FF2 special. Hitting an enemy on punish with a pop-up doesn't happen often, but the damage from this combo alone is higher than any combo in her 2nd or 3rd style. This works on the PAL version of the game, so playing at 60 frames should make it even easier.

Iv always liked her and her deception design is still her best design. I'm surprised you are covering her mk1 version since that was a beta and things can change.

Horrible until Deadly Alliance where he was really good, close to top 5. Horrible in Armageddon from what I've heard, really good in IX, and top 10 in XI.

Not sure if you grew up with them, but they are flawed, there's no getting around it. MK is better in 2D. But they've got a charm to them. Deadly Alliance is the least broken of the 3, and it's more fundamental based. The worldbuilding is the best though

I've always felt the "hate" that the 3D era gets is trying to rewrite history. No one hated those games and they are still fun to play. Also, maybe it's just me but I'm much more a fan of quick snappy combos as opposed to each button being mapped to a specific limb and not being able to sidestep on top of that. Also three fighting styles. I love the newer games but I miss the old combat.

Historical revisionism. They sold very well on release and were popular online. They aren't GOOD fighting games in retrospect but they did very well.

It would be so cool to see a red dragon competitive history video, with both Mavado and Hsu Hao in it. A Drahmin and Moloch video would also be pretty nice, or even a Blaze and Onaga video.

Some of those deadly alliance are certainly something

I really like how unique she looked in DA compared to the other games, I hope they bring that costume back.

with MK1's release and Baraka actually being top tier I would love to see a Baraka competitive history. I don't know much about pre NRS competitive as I didn't get into watching the competitive scene until MK9, but from what I know Baraka has never been good until now. He's been one of my favourite characters ever since the arcade era, and I would love to see how his gameplay changed over the years, but was unable to keep up with most other characters.

Li Mei definitely got lost in the shuffle in deception. Everybody was so excited about the many returning legacy characters that she got a little ignored I think. I've always thought hat she was massively underrated in that game.

I'm hoping for some Science Of MK1, since MK11 and MK1 are just so different with their meter, and Kameo. Plus a remaster of those videos couldn't hurt. It's hard to find channels or forums that explain certain tech and the fundamentals.

Love your guys content - I always make sure to save the video for dinner time for maximum enjoyment 😍 If I could say one thing though - do you guys have something against Kitana on this channel?😂 Not one video about her and it would give you more of a chance to explore games you’ve never covered before like Shaolin Monks!
