    that doesnt make any sense when the whole world is going to standard guage but we are willing to spend 3billon dollars to rehabilitate an narrow guage line i rather build standard where the 3 billon dollars can reach after dividing the whole railway into sections and stages . just like what lagos state is doing they have 7 lines to build build the one that you can afford . common sense is lacking here

    Beautiful presentations. I always look forward to watching your presentations, and I believe as the government goes further in its quest of the projects incorporated in the 1-4 National Development Plans and beyond, you would be here to present them in such an animated fashion to us. And I believe there is so much too for you to do, talking about projects listed under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) grand strategic plans, most of which have not been designed or published. There is so much to do, but even more importantly, so much to explain. There are a lot of Nigerians who are still not convinced that some of the projects you have discussed exist. There are people in Anambra and Delta State who still do not believe a 2nd Bridge is being built across the River Niger. Well, the truth can exist and does exist, irrespective of anyone's consciousness of it. But as you rightly mentioned, these things must be commercially viable. At the trade association level, town and city union and regional Chambers of Commerce level, municipal departments in charge of trade and economic planning, and even in educational institutions and our markets, these things must be propagated in languages the people understand. Consciousness or awareness must be amplified. The business environment must be sensitized. We must be ready to hit the ground running on a business level. Farmer associations must be intimated on how they can key in on these facilities. The stations will have shopping malls and stands, and it's not the government that would come and installs themselves in shops and malls to start selling things. The other day, the Minister of Transport called for hoteliers to come forward with plans and designs to install Inns and resort facilities around the railway stations. Logistics companies have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to set up a cluster of hubs around these new stations springing up everywhere. We have the Association of Tour Operators not knowing this is time to key in. Why can't we have a hotel and hostels chain for the first time setting up outlets in all the stations in Nigeria, this way we can intensify local tourism, have schools use these facilities for excursions. This is another business opportunity. And we have people crying there saying there are no jobs in Nigeria. When we are sitting on millions of job opportunities and doing nothing about them. We have our banks awash with credit, looking for viable businesses to plug it into. This is an opportunity of a lifetime. But they seem oblivious of what seems to me so obvious. Nigerian kids know less of the country than they know of Big Brothers America, a program nothing positive can be learned. The Ministry of Transport and the Railway Corporation have their hands full already and they still have to contend with manpower capacity, as these establishments were seriously incapacitated under successive administrations in the name of "downsizing". The Federal Minister of Transport has more than done enough. I wonder where he finds the energy for all these. The government has punched beyond its weight on this. It's now time for you and me, to do our share of things. There are some of us around willing to be directly involved in some of these things - hands-on. I believe that it's about time we make a representation of some kind to the Minister on some of these things. So a lot will depend on the private sector to effect maximum use of these facilities, to propel wealth creation and credit accumulation around these projects, so that they become commercially viable in record time, so we won't end up defaulting in the servicing of credits injected in these project. Already, one can see the cynical attitude of the mainstream media towards some of these projects. They are not being talked about or given the amount of time required to make these things fly. They would rather be involved in writing long meaningless articles, all on nothing, but abstract things like "true federalism", long-winded issues that can be discussed from today to next week, without anything achieved. When not that, the TV Channels spend their time discussing abstract and very boring political concepts. Nobody wants to get off his arse to go do a proper investigation, speak with experts, go back to the original development plans, to see where we are and where we are heading... One must also say to you that you deserve some funding. It's not enough to compliment you. You spend your time putting these things together. Sometimes, you travel about. You hire your crew you deserve some support. I think you should come forward with a plan on that and maybe even set up an online TV Channel. You will not lack an audience. And if you have an audience, of course, you can attract sponsorship. There are so many of us around the world willing to support you in any way possible in this thing you are doing. I hope you have a plan to escalate things to the NEXT LEVEL. Thank you once more.

    Thanks a million for this wonderful and amazing contribution, you are very knowledgeable and also a mind reader😊 We try our best and like you said, doing these documentaries involves a lot of research... There is so much that is going on that needs to be shown to people, but we can't keep up. Most people find it difficult to say positive things about someone they've criticized before. It shouldn't be so, when good deeds are done it needs to be said just like harping of the bad ones. Most times our people are quick to criticize with emotions, but everything is not the fault of leadership. Followership contributes to some of the problems... Thanks for the kind hearted thoughts about taking this to the next level, you are a patriot and a nice person, God bless🙏

    Nigeria government is adept at lending itself to unnecessary criticisms. So everywhere else in Nigeria they’re building standard gauge, and the Eastern rail line is to remain narrow gauge? What then would you like people in this part of the country think ? No matter the so-called “lack of funds “ justification, they will feel unfairly treated or “marginalized “ as some would put it. Governing is conquering people’s hearts through services, fair treatment or appearance of it. Since standard gauge will be in use in the whole Western, Coastal, and Central line, why should it be different when it comes to Eastern line? “Lack of funds “? Give me a break! How come that argument was not invoked regarding the construction of the standard gauge in the other regions? You want people to feel part of the country don’t offer them appearance of injustice even when it is not your intention to be unjust. By the way, the government should definitely finish the construction of that second Niger bridge by 2023 as promised. It’s long overdue. It is through these kind of stuff that you conquer people’s hearts, not through threats.

  • @NedMedia

    @NedMedia

    3 жыл бұрын

    Lack of funds is the first reason followed by traffic. There isn't much traffic on this line compared to the western line and the upcoming coastal rail line. Although railway infrastructural investments are for posterity, they still have to prioritize the investments according to economic realities. If traffic increases on this line in the future, they will definitely expand by adding a second track or going standard guage. Thanks for your insights😊

What this government did was to ensure Railway lines pass through all 36 states and extend to some neighbouring countries for ECONOMIC REASON as stipulated in AfCFTA AGREEMENT all the 54 countries in Africa signed. The concerned neighbouring countries to extend the railway to are NIGER and CHAD in the North and BENIN REP and CAMEROUN in the South. It is all this giant stride that infuriates the enemies causing all the insecurities. Nigeria shall surely succeed.

    Why don't they use standard gauge, so that they're readily interchangeable with the other lines? In other parts of the world rail is used to reduce carbon emissions. Nigeria needs to stop devoting huge amounts of money for the pay of reps, senators and ministers. There's no sense in building narrow gauge then double back later to build a standard gauge which will cost more and waste time.

    The simple answer is cost as explained in the video. There's nothing wrong with narrow guage. The human traffic on this line isn't heavy and might not be for the next decade. Besides there exist a narrow guage line already, they are simply doing a rehabilitation. For the immediate purpose the rail lines will serve, the job is good for it.

    @@NedMedia Maybe if the money that is dedicated to constructing a naval base in Kano state and similar unnecessary projects, cutting the cost of government are diverted to rail infrastructure there would be more than enough money. Once a transport corridor is proven to be fast, affordable and safe it will attract the necessary traffic and would pay for itself. The cost can be partly borne by the states which it passes through. The point is the money can be found within the country if they really wanted. Thank you.

    You're right about cutting the cost of governance because it is very high, especially the national assembly. But this line is mostly for cargo as it criss crosses many farming regions. Where there is heavy human traffic is the coastal rail line, thanks for your wonderful insight Ekwam👍🏽

    We are into video productions & animations. We also try hard to maintain the KZread channel as there's a lot of bad news about Naija 🇳🇬 It completely drowns out the good news, so we try to level things up a bit. Many people love the country that's why they criticize in the first place but failing to talk about the good news isn't good for our image. It's our only home, no one destroys his home.

    Talking about monitoring the rail yet the rail line does not connect Abuja the country's capital. There are probably more people travelling to Abuja from anywhere in the south now and verse vesa than before yet the trains does not go there.Nigerian leaders thinking ability is just comical, like people that did not go to primary school..Abuja is the most important city on that route yet the train line does not connect to it.😂😂😂

    @@NedMedia I meant monitising the rail.....l know the central line will eventually link Abuja but it makes economic sense for the Eastern line to link Abuja as well... When the Eastern line were built there were no Abuja as a capital city but today more than 50 percent of the people travelling north are probably going to Abuja....After l posted my comment l Google search karu, apparently its only 25 km to Abuja which make sense then..But for the train to not pass anywhere close/near to Abuja would be a big mistake.

    Not us, they. Look at South Africa, US, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and so on. They claimed the most resourceful areas and just pushed the indegenous inhabitants into the refuse dump. The issue is we bearly have anyone around to tell how terrifying colonisation was. The extent of the atrocities, like entire villages getting wiped out or the divide and rule strategy the pit ethnic groups against each other or the parasitic laws that completely limited the indeginous people from habouring wealth, lands, natural resources, even food to an extent were not revealed. Colonisation is chaos and should never ever happen. I would preffer living in the sewage as a free man than living in a five star hotel as a colonised man.
