Wonder if someone started doing that but one of their channels became a success and they decided to quit the illegal stuff and just be a KZread celeb. A Brazilian serial killer essentially did that, as mentioned in one of TCC's other vids.
This is Japan, Simon, they've been known to have people work themselves to death just to meet the deadline. Working themselves to death to find who stole 30 million yen, that's more reasonable.

So did Danny get out of the basement finally? "Callum is British but lives in Japan." Yeah right! Is Callum your new basement prisoner writing you scripts on your every whim!? IS HE SIMON!!?? IS HE!!?!
I think "show" is perfectly apt! Podcasts are basically the modern equivalent of radio shows anyway.
This one might not be as dark as the usual, but I still absolutely loved it! It's a very interesting story and, let's be honest, who doesn´t like a clever mind getting away with a crime where nobody got killed? Regarding the long episode-short episode dilemma, I don´t really mind, the important part is the content. Plus, short ones are ideal to squeeze in a short commute Love your work Simon, Callum and Jennifer!
We all figured you met callum at a bdsm bar when you were looking for a basement buddy for danny

That’s awesome that Callum lives in Japan. I was happy and curious that Japan has come up a fair bit in this show so far, so I guess that’s why. Also yeah. Thanks for touching on Japan’s ridiculous 99% conviction rate. 🤦♀️
You guys should totaly do D.B Cooper!! Simon you and your crew never disappoint, keep up the great work!
Like Japan's conviction rate, all your videos are 99% great, entertaining, and informative ... buuut ... 😉
I absolutely love a good Heist story in myself and appreciate the break from gruesome murders. Please keep making these.
I don't need bloody murder. I think these kind of stories are even better. It's more appropriate to joke
More robberies would be nice! The Santa Claus Bank Robbery is an excellent one!
Also, as much as i like the murder ones, this was great too, i like the variety... Would totally like more impressive heists
if you do more robbery ones, the uk has a few heists that are very entertaining. brinx-mat, hatton gardens, millennium dome heist to name a few

Hey Simon, long time fan of a number of your channels! ❤️ I think you have the script and vibe of this channel down great. 👍 Like you said in the "advert" on your business blaze video "it's casual, but not as casual as business blaze", a good compromise considering the content of this channel. 👍 My only constructive criticism is I feel the music (while good in its own right and well produced) doesn't quite feel like it fits? Perhaps it's a little too upbeat or too high on the BPM? It's probably just me, but you often ask for feedback and I thought my 2 cents might be helpful. 😅😀 Can't wait to see more videos and the (inevitable) launch of more channels. 🤘 P.s. When are you going to go the whole hog and start your own video streaming service? "Simon-Tube©️™️" - Filled with nothing but Simon Whistler channels! 😀😀😂

I do like the longer episodes more, but the shorts are great, too! I've watched almost every video on this channel now and I love the writing and Simon's delivery. I'm usually not someone that likes true crime stuff but I really, really love this show!

Legit Simon this was great, but I think the short style lends itself more to these unsolved crimes. You don't have to worry about fitting all the information in. In saying that this was really enjoyable, sucks they didn't do a dna test even if they couldn't arrest anyone. Oh but I do think given the 99% conviction rate; 6 years is a long time lol.
Merch: T-shirt with lettering: "Murder. Dead People. Most days. Casual Criminalist" Nope, I watched the end, so it's gotta change now "The Casual Criminalist; with more violence and blood and gore and all of those horrible things you people love"
The kid brought dishonor upon his family. It would be totally with the realm of reason in that culture for the kid to be "encouraged" to check out. Totally different family and cultural dynamic. Keep up the great work.
I like heist stories. I also like having a few short stories to watch when I don't have much time.

I like the shorties. Sometimes I don't have 30-60 minutes, so 15-20 is fantastic from time to time.
I love both the long and short form videos, so keep 'em coming! Could I make a suggestion for a script? The Sirloin Stockade murder(s) that happened in my hometown of Oklahoma City in 1978. It was pretty brutal.

I really really do enjoy the relatively lighthearted videos. Please keep making them.

Idea for CC merch? Coffee/tea mugs are always a safe bet. That's something I'd happily buy off of a favorite channel's merch page. They're probably fairly cheap (and easy) to manufacture, quick to ship, and it's something nearly everybody uses every day.
It was great to watch this after the Pedro Lopez episode. Keep up the great work team. Cheers, Lee

I love the robbery ones. Do more please longer with exhausting details. Thank you very much.
These heists ones are excellent keep them coming
This is a really cool heist! It seems to me that this was one guy, very resourceful, very audacious, working alone. He planned everything long term, including how to conceal his new wealth, before committing the crime. Then faded into the background until the statute of limitations was reached in 1975. Then he could start using his ill-gotten gains.

We LIKE the Heist stories, too, Simon! Don't shy away from really cool stories just cuz nobody died. Keep crankin em out!
Love the short videos! Please do more theft, embezzlement and fraud cases!!
Hey Simon, figured I'd answer the question. A marked bill is a bill a business has specifically set aside to hand over in the case of a robbery. They will have written down the date and serial number on it to track if its spent later on. When you ask for unmarked bills, its referring to bills that haven't been set aside for tracking purposes. Basically, by asking for them a criminal is trying to keep from setting off a pre-laid trap to catch them. Of course the success of it is debatable since there's not really a way to know if the money is unmarked or not.
At the 10:00 mark, as Simon was talking about getting lights and sirens online, an ambulance drove past my house, sirens blaring. In the few seconds before I realized what was happening, I thought “I’ve really lost it if I’m *hearing* double.” Meta 🧐🚨🚑
