Is that your greenhouse? Rescuing parrots. You’re living my dream life Edit: Now I see it’s an indoor pool/greenhouse overlooking the water. You’re definitely living the dream!
Highly recommend a Kakariki!! An underrated species with the cutest voices and funniest personalities! I just adopted a mostly blind Golden conure. her owner loved her, but was unable to communicate with her, and was just freaking her out. Luckily I already have experience with caring for a blind bird, so I'm just glad to have the opportunity to own one of these birds 😁

What is the Kakariki like in comparison to the Golden?
@GraceT
3 жыл бұрын
@@ParrotBliss very different! Kakariki are more cat-like, in that they're not clingy, and prefer you not pet them on the head, although they're super smart and food motivated, so training them to sit still when you pet their heads, is possible, it's just kind of a known species trait. They're still affectionate though, but prefer to be the one grooming you, instead of you grooming them. They aren't known to be aggressive with other birds and don't need to be in pairs, when hand raised. They more prefer the company of people, and sort of tolerate other birds. Mine likes to study them, like a science experiment. 😆

After 50 years of living with birds, my top pick would be an eclectus (smart, gentle, talkative, sociable, not noisy)

Starting to follow your videos regularly.. would be keen to hear more on your golden conures.. How easy/hard is it to potty train them? I have had an African Grey before, and potty training him wasn't a big deal..

Yay! Thanks for following my vids :) I'll talk more about potty training - the Golden Conures are just wonderful parrots!
I've read good things about Vasa parrots. They are playful and smart at the same time. Not a common parrot in aviculture. Their mating ways are particular for parrots.
I really want a Pionus Parrot but in my country its really hard to search people that breed Pionus birds 😔 (i live in the netherlands)

@@ParrotBliss I'll do so more research then, even tho, i think i will go in spring to a breeder and try interact with parrots and let the parrot chose me, do you think that would be good? I enjoyed your video. You didnt mention what price range they are. When money is an object. I like to know more about Cape Parrots, I never heard about them. Are they all green? I could not see exactly what yours looked like. Do they all look like yours? What is his $ range? I really like him. I love yellow conures. Yours is very beautiful. I hope you do another video very soon. Thank you

Hello Madelline, I've created several videos on Cape Parrots, they are one of my favorites. They cost around $4,000 to $6,000 US at this time. If you do a search on "Parrot Bliss Cape Parrot" then you will find 10+ videos of my Capes so you can see their colors too :)

@@ParrotBliss Have you thought about getting a red bellied parrot, another African species? They sound pretty ideal, too :) Although they're pretty small - green cheek conure size, so probably aren't quite the same as having a Cape.
How about a blu crowned conure? I would like some informatios! Thank you

I wish I could - I don't give "research" - I talk from experience because I didn't like finding regurgetated online info that wasn't always correct. So, I've never had one and can't talk about them :(
Do you think a cape can be friend with a conure?
@ParrotBliss

I think it could be possible, but my Capes have only liked my Golden Conure, not the other, smaller conures.
They look very beatiful in this great souronding! Can the two fly or are they clipped? How many birds do you own and how much of them are fully flighted? Can you show them all in one video? Lovely greets from Germany.
@ParrotBliss

We try to keep our parrots flying, only clip when there is an absolute necessity or their bothering other birds. No one's allowed to bully anyone else! We currently have over 12 species of parrots, but it is very difficult to get them all in one video.

There's a reason why hyacinth mcaws are expensive. It's because the pet trade has decimated their numbers. If you love parrots and don't want them going extinct you shouldn't get one.
@ParrotBliss
2 жыл бұрын
You do know what they cost, right? I would love to have one - but I’d have to have land for a real aviary for a Hyacynth. We feel that our space for the Macaws works, but we don’t feel another could be added without increasing the space. And, if you know me, I wouldn’t be happy with only one; I strongly feel they need another of their species to bond with in addition to us.

The primary threat to the continued viability of hyacinth macaw populations is loss of habitat due to relentless conversion of Brazilian sub-Amazonian forest to oil-palm plantations, By 2100 the only hyacinths that will left will be those preserved by aviculture. If you love parrots don't eat processed foods containing palm oil.
