    I found out what the "Set Privacy Recording" setting is. "You can set the privacy recording feature to delete your recorded files after a set amount of time to protect the privacy of others." So it sounds like it's kinda like Instagram stories except they are deleted a few minutes after they are recorded. If you guys have any more questions feel free to ask.

    Great review. I like your balanced assessment. The Q200's safety features are cool.

    I got this installed a week ago. The quality and ease of usage with app is great. My only dislikes are that when you hit the manual record it only records 10s prior insted of 15 or 20. And the parking mode even if i drop the sensitivity down keeps having an incident when i close my boot (and no I'm not slamming it, im just letting it drop from about 3inches) AND sometimes just closing the door.

    Memory upgrade needed but what brand? Many people reported issues using other brands other than expensive Thinkware memory.

    One thing Thinkware needs to work on is their ease of saving moments, rather than having to piece together files and edit it.

    How so? Are you talking about in between two cycles? Unfortunately I can't think of any dashcams that do that sort of thing

    @ZeroFoxENT ya fair enough. I wonder if you hit the "event" button on dashcams and it changed the recordings if that would corrupt files or screw up how they are saved on a micro sd card

    thank you sir. 2 questions: 1) Why the heck is the LOCK button the same as the Start/Stop Recording button? Does that make good design sense? Seems like when trying to lock a video, someone might inadvertently turn off their recording instead of locking the video. 2) Which would you choose, the Viofo A119 Mini 2 or the Thinkware Q200 ?

  • @vancouversworstdrivers

    @vancouversworstdrivers

    Good point, I'm guessing that they want to keep the design as simple as possible so the fewer the buttons the better. Personally if I had to choose I would pick the Mini 2 because it has the Starvis 2 sensor which allows for better footage. That being said it only comes in a one channel option (front canera) so if you want a two channel option you should go with the Q200 or even the new Thinkware Arc which I just did a review on a few days ago!

    I am looking to upgrade to the Q200 from my current F200. Now, my main question that I have. Since I already have an F200 2ch Setup Hardwired into my Mazda 3, I already have a Rear Cam and Cable Ran to the Front Dash Cam, can I not just purchase the Q200 Front Dash Cam and SWAP It Out on the Windshield Mount? Plugging the Power Cable, GPS Antenna and Rear Camera right into it? I know you mentioned that the Rear Camera had a different plug on the Q200 ((But It looks like that is ONLY Meaning if you get the Rear Camera that comes WITH the Q800 That the New Rear Cam Plug In would not work with your existing Cable installed for the F200, But the Plug End that Plugs into the Front Dash Cam looks the same > So Can I not just Retain the REAR Camera that Came with my F200 and the Cable that was installed for IT? And Plug it right into the New Q200 that I Swap Out)) ??? It seems that IF they are Both compatible with the Multiplexer (rear cams that come with either the F200 or Q200) that the Rear Cam from the F200 would be compatible with the Q200 (and the plug is only different From the Q200 Rear Cam to the F200 Cable at the Rear Cam, NOT at the Front Dash Cam)? Please help as I would really like to Upgrade to the Q200 Front Dash Cam, retain my current Rear Cam and be able to do all this Myself in 5min of Unplugging and Swapping out the Front Dash Cam and no need to call out My Professional Installer once again and deal with all that... Thank You... Edited as I accidentally put F200 pro in places But mine is certainly just the F200. I think that makes a difference but either way... Thanks again.

    Hey thanks for watching. I can guess what fits and what doesn't but I think it's best if you reach out to Thinkware because I don't want to give you the wrong info! Unfortunately I have not gotten my hands on an F200 or F200 pro so I don't know exactly what cables they use.

    Great review however I just have a quick question. Does parking mode overnight recording work if I do not have the unit hardwired but instead connected via OBD instead?

    Great question! I would recommend talking to Thinkware about that one. Personally I think it depends on how long your car battery is good for....when I have my dashcams hardwired they usually last about 4-6 hours in parking mode

    So does the camera automatically continuously record and send the footage to your phone? Do you have to press record manually?

  • @vancouversworstdrivers

    @vancouversworstdrivers

    It continuously records but onto a microsd memory card on the dashcam. When you want to download footage you can do so via wifi from the dashcam onto your phone, or remove the microsd card and download the footage onto your computer. I hope that helps and thanks for watching

    I find it interesting how thinkware drop the u3000 last year but has done nothing in terms of updates especially for the sos feature that doesn't work nighttime clips because those are lackluster but relaseing a new dashcam

    Sorry to hear about that. I do wonder what the number of people that purchase 4k dashcams vs entry level dashcams. I imagine significantly more people buy cheaper dashcams than $500+ which is why they spend the time upgrading them.

    The footage looks slightly better than the VS1… any thoughts?

    Personally I would take the VS1 because it has the Sony Starvis 2 sensor which is higher quality footage. The problem is that the VS1 does not allow for a rear dashcam.
