About the axle, it wouldn't be a problem that it was less than a kg over the world record. But it would be a problem because the world record was set on fixed axle and this one was freely revolving. Not the same equipment, it shouldn't count as the same record.

Hooper is a brilliant technician (same as Novikov) just look at Axel split-jerk and clever use of the rules in most competitions. Tom is just raw bigger and stronger (Shaw and Bjornsson) and cannot beat technicians with strength alone. If Tom can continue to improve his technique and fitness as we saw this year he has every chance of matching/beating Hooper on a regular basis.....What a great time to be a strongman fan....!

Looking at both their techniques - yes Tom is what I would call a more strict traditional strongman in his approach showing the raw power of his pressing. But that's my point Hooper using the split-,jerk is able to match him without being as strong and in the case of reps sometimes beat him. Also look at someone like Novikov in the dumbbell surely he isn't as strong as Tom but the technique more than makes up for it in reps.

Poor Rauno! Lol. He was hilarious on his response to the yoke height. Lots of experience, still dumb mistake. 😂

Great breakdown. Seeing all the new guys is exciting, as they performed excellently. Great to see Tom win his 3rd title. I still think he has to raise his game against Hooper in the other shows though, as he's got absolutely no weakness.

Hooper didnt "repick" the conans, they were not allowed to do that once they had moved more than a meter with it, he only adjusted it in his arms by throwing it up a little, making it even more impressive.

Yeah once you go down you are down with conans. Hooper picked it wrong. His arm was slipping of so he shrugged it up to try and regrip. Unreal that he came second after that. Guys has no giveup in him@thestrongmanhistorian

You discussing the stone off rule actually made me think of the time Bish made the final in 2020 despite finishing 4th out of five guys in his group. Yeah, the rule sucks

I think the groups were so good because the lineup was so weak on paper, they had luke stoltman in a top seat, luckily they put the 3 good rookies that made rhe final in different groups

This shows that more famous people on paper should not think their spot is secured because of their past fame. They must work really hard otherwise the less renowned athletes will take their spot away, and rightly so I must add. Plus, some people who had to withdraw this year are a little bit too prone to getting injured lately. Something is clearly not quite correct, either their overall health or training.
