I don't understand why it seems all people want to constantly tweak around with their climate controls? I adapt the temperature, i dunno, 2-4 times if at all a year and in the meantime it does everything automatic. Total waste of space to fill up the dashboard with physical buttons for that. At least in European cars there were many years you had to pay big money to get an automatic climate system as an extra and nowadays when every car has it, the people don't use it? Or is it the same thing like when people comeback to their cold home, put their heater on max only to notice sometime later „oh man it's hot in here...“ and put it down, wasting a lot of energy only because they simply don't understand that it would not take longer to get their desired temperature when they had put in on an appropriate level in the first place?

They will draw people in with a “projected” affordable price, but they’ll need to recover all the design costs for that new vehicle. Plus, it’s just bigger than the EUV with newer tech and inflation will have done what it does by the time the Equinox finally starts getting delivered. It will be $40k starting. Still not a bad price and cheaper than Tesla Model 3 for a larger EV SUV-ish size vehicle.

This looks 1000x better than the Model Y and the Mach E! Happy to see normal door handles as well. The door handles or the Lyriq are over designed, look ridiculous, and complicate something that should be a simple process. I have always wondered why car manufactures felt like they had to complicate basics functions on EVs. Was hoping to see a little better performance on the SS given what an all electric powertrain can achieve, but I understand GM wanting to nail the basics before unleashing the full potential. If the under 4 second 0-60 is accurate this SUV will be in the class of Porsche, Maserati, and AMG offerings without having to deal with single digit MPG. Now GM can work on educating their dealer network. I went to my local dealer and they knew nothing about the Blazer EV. All they could do is pull up the public website and read it verbatim. I feel there are alot of dealers who either don't care about EVs or straight up don't like them. I can respect the love of ICE vehicles as they have been around for decades, but EVs are the future and they blow ICE out of the water when it comes to performance, efficiency, and reliability.

Performance is measured on a lot more than 0-60 any actual auto enthusiast would know that, so no, if you add up all the metrics that equate to “performance “ , evs do not in fact blow ICE out of the water, look at the Tesla plaid as the ultimate example: the breaks suck, after a few launches it needs to cool down, simply can’t stack up.

Tesla is now or will in future be offering brake package upgrades al la Porsche. They (EVs) are vastly more efficient in terms of converting stored energy and have way fewer moving parts than ICE cars. The torque on even a very small EV would usually put a similarly sized ICE engine to shame. Cheers.

The whole model range may be available for purchase in the next 6 months or so, but GM has shown us (with plenty of data out there) that GM is absolutely unable to produce these vehicles. Lets start with the Hummer. GM invested 2.2 billion into engineering the vehicle and completely redoing the assembly plant in which it will be produced. The Hummer started to be produced in mid-November of 2021. So we are now 14 months into production. In the first 9 months of 2022, GM has only produced 2,570 units of the Hummer EV Pickup, which is way less than the 90,000 units needed just to meet reservations. Now for the Lyric. It was launched last Summer. GM only delivered 122 Cadillac Lyric EVs in 2022. There are around 100,000 on order. So GM has shown us they can preview, take orders, do videos and eventually production launch electric vehicles off these two new platforms. But they can't build them at volume. Some of the people who have their vehicle on order will be dead before they receive it. Yet no one at the top of GM's manufacturing division has been fired yet over it's inability to launch these vehicles. Billions of potential profit is being left on the table because of the manufacturing divisions inability to launch these vehicles at volume. And what to we hear from Mary Barra and the GM board of directors over this failure? Crickets. So if you have any plans to order the Blazer or the Equinox or the Prologe or the Acura version of the Prologe. Prepare yourself for a very long wait after your order has been placed. You can order and receive a Lambo quicker than getting one of these.

Well, time to put my two cents in again.. This Chevy is very good looking! I love the lines and edges inside and out. I'm so happy to see that cars are getting their shapes back rather than just looking like every other bean on wheels. As I have stated before it is really cool to see that some functions, namely the climate controls, are being taken out of the touchscreen and put back as real buttons and knobs as they should have been all along. BUT they done went and flubbed up with putting headlight controls in the screen. No. Come the hell on... That's almost as ridiculous as Rivians (I like them too, but...) having to move a digital picture of a vent around just to aim the vent. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. It's bad, and they should feel bad for doing it. Same for this headlights in screen silliness. As the owner of a car with a "frunk" (84 Fiero) I used the hell out of that extra space under the hood for storage of items that could live in there with the spare tire. (remember those? Actual spare tires instead of a can of pressurized goop? IF you're lucky to get even that. Yeah, me too.) So Yeah leave room for storage up front. We don't need fake plastic engines to make it look like there's an engine in there. (Ahem Cadillac, I love ya, but for f--ks sake..) Now here is where I'm may piss some people off. (I don't G.A.F.) This Chevy has a similarity to Fords' Mach-E. Just like the Mach-E has no reason to be called a "Mustang", (It should have been the "Ford E-scape") The same is true for this. Yes, it's a promising car, it's beautiful. but it is NOT, nor could never be a Blazer. Blazers are 4 wheel drive, off-road capable, rugged and truck-like. This lovely thing is a station wagon. A damn fine one, but a station wagon nonetheless. Call it the "Townsman" like the Chevy wagon variant of the 70's, but not a Blazer. Ok, that was about 5 cents worth, but if you regularly read my comments, you already know I voice my opinions freely.

If they do however put the headlight controls in the screen, they are going to get a lot of backlash from consumers. Not hing against Doug,, not at all, Just after doing so many reviews, I suppose you do miss a quirk or feature or two. Now regarding your second point, I think headlights, and running lights should come on when the ignition ( or power for an EV) is turned on. Forget the criminals. These "drivers" around here are so horrible it should be a crime.. Here in SW Pennsylvania, I see so many of these yuntsers, driving down the road in dark or very low light with no lights on at all. They're like: "Uh huh huh yunts! I can see nat! I dont need yunts stinking lights to see nat! GO SDILLERS! uh huh huh! nat!" I love the horizontal screen instead of the absurd vertical Tesla-like screens in so many BEVs today, as well as keeping physical buttons/dials for climate & audio … don’t care for the drive modes on the stalk, though… wondering where the bright-lights switch is…

The ramp will probably continue to be really slow for the short term. They're building their own battery manufacturing plants so until those hit full speed that's the bottleneck on their production capability. The good news though is once they're up and running they control their own battery supply, so no fighting with other manufacturers for allocations.

I'm thinking that some police forces may opt for the RWD so they can do a 180° power turn on the spot to go pursue a suspect vehicle...although some will likely opt for AWD to deal with snow in northern climates or muddy back roads in the deep south. Really one should be able to just change between any available drive setup if it is AWD with the flick of a switch. =/

One of the best parts about this EV future is that cars are looking incredible again. Every time the car industry goes through the same two phases: curves and squares, most cars always look dull and similar except for tail lights. There is so much variety now. I think this is a result of computer-aided design, where we let the computer figure out the most aerodynamic shapes, which are also pretty natural because they conform to the laws of the universe better than old designs.
