The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST Is A Modern Day Avalanche With Class Leading Range

The electric truck wars continues to heat up with GM finally entering the space with the first ever #Chevrolet #SilveradoEVRST. Unlike its rivals from Ford and Ram, the #ChevroletSilveradoEV is built on a dedicated EV platform called #Ultium and the #SilveradoEV has the look that brings back the old #ChevroletAvalanche in its design, right down to its folding midgate. With a large 200+ kWh battery pack, the #ElectricSilverado delivers best-in-class range with up to 450 miles on a full charge.

    I agree with this statement completely. Honestly, EV trucks aren’t really trucks. It’s a truck body style, but it’s really for people who will commute daily. It shouldn’t cost the same as a gas powered version, or at the most it should cost the same.

    After watching a few of these reviews, and driving the Sliverado EV myself, I don't know why a lot of these reviews say the ride quality isn't that great. I couldn't disagree more. It's VERY smooth! Especially for being on 24's. I've owned a lot of trucks in my life and this one drives smoother than ANY truck I've ever owned or test driven. Not to mention, there are THREE different suspension settings to choose from (while driving) and NO ONE who's reviewing this truck is talking about that. There's also THREE different steering settings for how loose or tight you want it to feel. I find these negative reviews to be false and irresponsible reporting. If you want to be overly picky, a very simple solution is to put on a 20" inch wheel and bigger tire. Problem solved. These reviewers are being very overly dramatic. My only complaint is no Apple CarPlay. The Google platform does NOT work better and I really don't like it. It's a money grab, pure and simple. Google paid GM enough money to not put Apple CarPlay in the truck. I find this to be a MASSIVE fail. It's in my other GM car and I use Apple CarPlay non-stop. GM, stop being so greedy. Give people what they want. You've already made enough money.

  • @anthonypelchat

    @anthonypelchat

    Not really. Ford and Tesla already have bi-directional charging on their trucks. But they also have more power output from the built in bed inverters, allowing you to power a house or RV without the need for the 8,000 dollar house kit. Silverado only hits 7.2KW in the bed. Not bad, but not great. 30amp service vs 50amp for Ford and 11.5kw for the CT.

By ditching the back doors and mid-gate you save on 4 door testing, a lot of materials and manufacturing costs and weight! You can make it so much cheaper and lighter! With no drive shaft hump you can have a flat floor with plenty of leg room for that occasional 3rd passenger. For bonus points you can have a solar bed cover for added range. That would be truly awesome!!!

    The new Ram RHO is significantly faster with a small 3.0 inline 6 power source. It has many advantages, and a more than adequate 4 ton towing capacity. As well as costing 25,000 less. The TRX/RHO platform is the most durable and overall safest vehicle on the market. I think this GM is much nicer than the other EVs, but the new RHO at a 75,000 price is the best pound for pound in the world. Not to mention the decent gas mileage capabilities. Yes I'm biased because Ram has always been our pleasure. We work in security. So Glock and Ram are our must haves. Baruk Hashem ⚓

    I am happy to see *gm* go to a 24-inch wheel. You know exactly why they went this route Soyfan, you were one of reviewers that complained Escalade V wheels were too small. When *gm* revealed their new full-size SUVs back in 2020 I already knew they would make this move because of the simple fact that the wheel wells weren’t filled out to perfection. Go back and see how surprisingly “smedium” the wheels looked on the 2021 Tahoe, Yukon, and Escalade due to the platform’s new size increase. The Silverado EV is massive compared to a Tesla Cybertruck, these wheels fit this truck and they even look amazing on the 2025 Suburban HC. After getting a good look and feel at this truck I’m confident that the upcoming Tahoe EV will look amazing as well.

    And if you thought American ICE trucks and SUVs were shockingly inefficient, let me introduce you to this thing: 212+ Kwh gets you a 440-mile range with a weight of 9K lbs. At this point, EVs like this weigh over 2k lbs more than their ICE counterparts. What's the point? I'm pretty sure this thing isn't any greener than an ICE vehicle. This is all getting very confusing.

    I still like the R1T the best out of all the EV trucks because it's way more versatile. For basically the same price you get a MUCH better interior, you can actually park it in a normal size home garage, it's easier to maneuver in city streets and it's easier to park in city streets. I'd also add that while I'm not taking anything that cost this much off road but the R1T can go off road, tow more and the gear tunnel is actually way more useful than that midgate because it's actually something that people will use on a daily basis.

    @@G-Rated the R1T starts at 70k & there are great lease deals that you can get on in stock inventory. However that aside, it being animates it a better truck even at the same price is A) it’s more versatile B) it actually has better specs such as better towing capability & more horsepower & C) it’s actually a classified as a luxury truck whereas with this you’re paying luxury prices for cheap plastic interiors.

    @@kenyattaclay7666 You’re trying way too hard here. This Silverado EV will sell itself because of its specs and capabilities. The Rivian is NOT more versatile, it’s just a smaller truck. I seriously would like to know how having over 100 more horsepower, being able to tow 1000 more pounds, having a faster 0-60 time, being able to take it off road, having a more useful feature like the gear tunnel (ain’t nobody going to go through all those steps on a regular basis to use the midgate) and you can actually park the R1T in normal granges & parking spots. So tired of people saying *gm* should’ve called this something else. This isn’t the Avalanche. It’s a Chevy Silverado with a mid-gate. It’s the same as people calling the Silverado the GMC “Sierra” after Chevy received GMC’s Multi-Pro tailgate. The feature list doesn’t determine the nameplate.

    60 PSI is not unusual and is common for most 3/4 ton trucks and up. With the weight of this truck that makes sense. If the reviewer had just taken a 3/4 ton down that road I bet his comparison of the ride quality would not be so bad although the low profile tires are definately not doing it any favors.
