I've been known to not be the biggest fan of Trek, but then I shocked the world when I bought one, and It's a very very good bike.

    Just bought the Crimson color. After riding a 1999 Trek 6500 hardtail for over 20 years this is a massive improvement. Glad I waited because the improvements to all bikes over the last 8 years has been incredible. Since these bikes are 2022 models Trek has discounted $500 to $3,499.99 which helped with the decision.

    I have a 2022 9.8xt. It is one of the best climbing MTB's period. I say this a lot but I think people confuse it for being fast or me saying it is. It's really hard to push it up the hills ( it weighed in at 29 LBS yesterday with dropper and XT pedals ) and when we are out with the boys, I find my self off the back dying trying to keep on. I also have the outgoing model, it's easily 2-3 MPH avg faster. That being said, I bought it thinking it would be a XC racer ( for technical marathons though, It's awesome) and I have learned, its just a short travel party bike. It's so fast in tech though. I have come to terms with this, and I find myself riding it more than my race bike because of what you said, it doesn't deflect on technical climbs and it has traction for years.

    Bro. Just got a Top Fuel 9.7. I too hated Treks before this bike. NEVER liked them. But somebody did their homework at Trek on this one. I love this bike!

    Lol love the roast at the end. Gold sir, also I love 17 Fuel EX and that's only 130/140 when I got it. I have bump up the fork to 150 and it's a great bike from green to proline.

    Just bought the Red one. Picked it up two weeks ago and RideWrapped it this weekend. Pumped to start putting some miles on it. The first 20 last weekend were pretty sweet. Still dialing it in a tad, but so far I'm impressed as well. I started out with the Top Fuel 7, but SOOO glad I traded up to the 8. Just feels like such a better bike in this price range. Thanks for the video. Cheers

    I have giant Stance which is trail bike, thinking of this xc or down hill, what is the difference between downhill and XC bikes ?? I like your review about it which encourages a lot to buy it, the question is would I find a big difference in speed from trail to downhill bikes special climbing ? Thank you 🙏

  • @RustyMTB

    @RustyMTB

    Downhill bikes are just for going downhill. They don’t have a cassette with enough range to climb in the first place. XC bikes are good at climbing and can go downhill because what goes up must go down. Trail bikes are balenced in between and are equally good at climbing and descending. The bike reviewed in this video is a Downcountry bike which is a short travel trail bike/beefed up XC bike. If you have a DH park nearby then a DH bike is nice, I’d recommend an Enduro bike which is good at DH but can climb. Didn’t really answer your question that well, but hope I explained these types of bikes

    Great review. Best roast I've seen at the end. I'm not a Trek fan,,,,yet. LOL. I saw your brief review of the Rocky Element. Which would you say is the better all around XC/trail bike?

  • @CobraKyle

    @CobraKyle

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks so much! That's a tough choice as they are both excellent bikes. I wish I could ride the alloy Element to give a more conclusive answer. The one I rode was almost 7K, so it was better in pretty much every way haha. I do think the element is going to be a better descender, and for all around pedaling/climbing...I think they would be pretty evenly matched.

    I just got the same bike. However, mine came with SRAM DB8 brakes instead of the Shimano 6100. Which are better? It came from Trek dealership store, not sure why the brakes are different.

    How’s it going bud? Can I get your input? So I purchased this bike at world bike also and for the trails around SA, what made you choose this bike over the Fuel EX?

  • @CobraKyle

    @CobraKyle

    Жыл бұрын

    I'm good thanks! At the time I bought this, the old Fuel EX was still around, and felt like the Top Fuel was more "modern". With the new Fuel EX being released, it would certainly be a tougher choice, but I prioritize pedaling efficiency over downhill performance. To this day the Top Fuel 8 has been one of my favorite bikes I owned and kind of miss it. It rips for a 120mm.
