The 2021 Ford Ranger TREMOR Is Halfway To a Raptor And a Surprisingly Good Value!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's officially here - the 2021 Ford Ranger TREMOR offers a more hardcore off-road option against the FX4 package, and is the most rock-ready version you can as the full-blown Raptor isn't on sale in the U.S. In this video, Tommy takes a closer look into what you get (and the value) with the Tremor package.

As an owner of a European 2019 Ranger XLT I like the hard plastic interior a lot because it’s very easy to clean and there are hardware buttons for all the important stuff like heated seats and heated windshield. The only gripes I have are that Ford didn’t bother to include a wireless charger and wireless Apple Car Play after the facelift in 2019, and that there is no option for a 3G/4G connection to get updated traffic data over the internet.

Here is my quick comparison of the mid-size 4WD "off road ready" trucks: Ford Ranger Tremor. Good overall vehicle, comfortable seats, good 4WD system, but no "AWD" setting available. No front locker. Ground clearance is adequate, but not great. Reliability should be pretty good, but I question the longevity of the 2.3 Ecoboost (or any turbocharged gasoline engine, for that matter). Chevy Colorado ZR2. Good 4WD chops, overall, excepting low rear shock mounts (dumb). I don't like the gas 3.6, the 8 speed transmission is junk. The 2.8L diesel is OK, except for the expensive to replace timing belt at 150K miles. The 6-speed auto with the diesel is a good transmission. Not as comfortable as the Ranger, but OK. Reliability is suspect. GMC Canyon AT4--same comments, except it isn't as robust a hardcore 4WD as the ZR2. I'd pass on the Canyon AT4. Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. Has all the 4WD chops, except for the lousy breakover angle. I'm not a fan of either the 3.6 Pentastar or the 3.0 Ecodiesel. This vehicle likely to have all the reliability issues of almost all FCA vehicles--especially electronic and electrical system issues. (I know this stuff well--I'm a 30 year Jeep owner). Despite its great off-road chops, I'll pass on the Gladiator. Toyota Tacoma TRD Off road or TRD Pro. Biggest Toyota plus--it will outlast all the rest and be the most reliable. OK off-road performance, but lacks locking rear (and locking front) differentials. Very uncomfortable seating position with no real fix for it. Not a fan of the 3.5--the 4.0 engine was much better for off-roading. The new Nissan Frontier. If Nissan can get this new Frontier right, with an "off-road" model that can best the others in ground clearance, etc., it will have a winner. If they don't get it right, it will just be another Nissan "mistake" that will put the company deeper in the hole. If I were to be shopping for a mid-size 4WD off-road pickup (I'm not), I would look hard at the Ranger Tremor, the Chevy Colorado ZR2 diesel, or--potentially--the new Nissan Frontier, depending on what its off-road version will be. Much as I love Toyotas in general, the Tacoma is just a torture chamber to sit in; the Jeep lineup simply falls so far short on reliability today that I won't buy a late model one.
