Yes I'm having the same problem. Blew a valve cover gasket within the first week of getting it from dealer. Started out with 76,000 miles in the odometer. Added 4 quarts and drove it back to the dealer. They fixed the problem. I checked the oil level when I picked it up and when I got home just to make sure. Level was fine. 3 weeks to a month later I added 5 quarts because I was also going through the vehicle feeling like it wanted to stall and not wanting to auto- shut off. Not sure where the oil is going but I have no leaks. I think we need to file a lawsuit against hyundai because from what I've read this is a major issue with these vehicles. Spent $60 extra on this for oil and I'm now due for an oil change.

I started to do my own oil change after the 3 year Free oil change at the dealership. I noticed from the 7Qrt of oil it takes, only 2 1/2 came out!! I never seen this before on any of my cars. I was shock. I will keep track of how much oil per week this thing burns.

I would always recommend for any modern car to 1/2 all of the intervals for preventative maintenance. The dealerships only care that the car makes it past the warranty period (all makes all models). I have a 2020 Santa Fe with the slightest oil consumption issue. 143k still averaging 26.7mpg mixed driving. Tires/brakes and scheduled maintenence

Very good point. My old M3 had a 15,000 mile oil interval. Of course I did it every 3 to 5000 miles but you know how many people out there just following the manufacturer recommendation.

Purchased a used 2018 Kia Sportage LX AWD with 29,000 miles. When I took it to my mechanic for it's first oil change he praised the car but warned me to keep an eye on the oil level for Hyundai's and Kia GDI engines burn oil. Currently at 78,000 miles, use full synthetic and go though 1.5 to 2 quarts of oil in a 5000 mile interval.

My dealership in Wichita ks used to give loaners while cars we bought new from them were in the shop... They won't even ask if we need a loaner now and never have one anyhow... Now, they rarely answer the phone... Something is going on with Hyundai and their dealerships... Long long long delays for service and parts prices are astronomical lately... I need my car for work. My wife needs her car for work and kids. I'm using my ancient Mazda 07 CX-7 I never thought I'd be driving again but kept it just in case we had another car die on us for a backup since it was cheap to insure and just park in the driveway (paid off cars are hard to just get rid of sometimes, glad I didn't) ... It's got issues too, but it still drives unlike my Palisade. Crossing my fingers it stays alive long enough to get Palisade returned to me... Dealership wants me to pay $200 to diagnose the trouble since I've got 78k miles on it... I thought it was covered for 100k since I'm there original owner... Pretty upset with this car and local dealer but whatever, just figure out why it's burning oil and if it's a manufacturer defect, which it certainly sounds like from all the other similar complaints I'm hearing, then I expect Hyundai to do the right thing and warranty it and repair these cars. I've been promoting Palisade to everyone for almost 4 years now with positivity. It's a great car otherwise. Just started having engine issues around 50-60k miles that get worse over time. Only other major complaint I have is the 2020 USB power ports in car, while very conveniently placed, only pump out 1 amp and that's not enough to charge most modern phones unless they're turned off and slowly charging... My phone actually drains slowly on long car rides we take to Colorado so I have to bring an inverter with me to plug into the round dc port to use my inverter for laptop charging 120V.. it has a set of USB charge ports too and cranks out 3 amp availability so it keeps my devices charged just fine... Basically saying the cars USB ports and inverter built in are under powered and worthless... If I could find a wiring diagram I'd just replace the electronics with my own to power the ports in the car... But otherwise, very nice car... I have limited 2020 with Napa leather, tow package and just about every feature before they came out with the calligraphy version... Love the comfort... Hate it won't charge my phones and that it's burning oil.

Had oil change done. Fast forward and I’m coming due for regular oil change as per dealership. Palisade started making the noise again today. Stopped, checked and again, no oil left. How is a 2020 burning through oil this fast?! I’ve had nothing but issues with it. Transmission replaced at 70,000km (43,500 miles). 4 or 5 ignition coils replaced since I bought it. Car would stall in heave rain. Alternator replaced at about 85000 km (53000 miles). Shocks are gone and being replaced later this week.

All of these problems started when Hyundai switched from EFI (electronic fuel injection) to GDI (gasoline direct injection) on their engines to improve fuel economy very slightly. I have a 2009 Hyundai Genesis V6 with EFI and it has never used a drop of oil the entire 15 years I have owned it. Dipstick always shows the exact same level as right after an oil change. I use Mobil 1 EP 5W-30. If my engine was using an excess amount of oil, I would switch to a High Mileage Full Synthetic 5W-30. If that didn't work, I would switch to High Mileage Full Synthetic 10W-40 (or 0W-40).

We have a Palisade now, prior we had a 2008 Veracruz which had 3 government recalls for oil leaking onto the alternator. From what I've read in the forums people mentioned the same symptoms you did, in regards to the veracruz, and the recall was due to the possibility it could stall while driving. Anyway you seem pretty mechanical as I watched your brake video first so I'm guessing you already made sure it isn't leaking somewhere as opposed to burning the oil. Regardless maybe you can file a complaint with the consumer protection agency. There is no reason a 50k car should need oil every thousand miles. Also should mention our Veracruz had the leak and we never had oil on the concrete below it. Not sure how.

Then they said the check engine light was related to a transmission error - but instead of testing the transmission all they did was clear the code and it came right back. Their recommendation - flush the transmission fluid and wait to see if there is another error... sorta sounds like they are throwing darts with blindfolds on instead of following manufacturer recommended procedures. Same exact issues. Noticed oil burning off around 50k miles on my 2020 limited... I have 77800 now and it went near bone dry while doing a lot of driving in City with start stop going pretty regularly... Started hesitating on stop to idle like it was going to do the auto stop engine then restart but it kept going and eventually another out again... It finally threw a check engine code but dealership says it's for transmission and that they are aware it's burning oil but not sure why... Major recall? Who else is seeing this?

@@CoderMan but no one can seem to pinpoint the cause. Dealership refuses to start warranty work process until they know for sure their work will be covered... I had purchased an extended coverage in addition to manufacturer warranty when I bought this car new - its expired now I think and the dealership service department is just not communicating well at all nor willing to spend the time needed to really diagnose the true cause of any issue.

By the way this is true by the time you hit 7,000 miles you will have very little oil if any, my wife’s palisade does the same thing do your oil changes every 3,000 miles or sooner sheesh . One more thing well a couple, Hyundai recommends Quaker oil and you should check your oil level when the car is a normal running temperature so turn it on until it comes to normal running temp then turn it off let it sit for 5 minutes then check it on level ground.
