I bought one...I love it. I use my Buick Encore for errands into town.

What, no power tailgate? No adaptive cruise control is a big surprise. Next I’d like to see Tom trying to change the spare tire on one of these monsters.

Tow capacity 18,000 lbs is awesome. Good looking truck, powerhouse, dated interior, excellent diesel. Needs collision alarms and automatic braking and a larger central voice activated display. Would I buy it? In a heart beat!

I have the 19" GMC AT4 with the 6.2 (1500). I can tell you that this Multi-Pro tailgate is not a joke. At first, I thought it might be a little gimmicky but it is not. It is a complete game-changer for me. I use it every day in some form or fashion and it works great. I am now convinced I cannot live without it, it is that useful. I am now in need of a 3/4 ton truck and am looking to trade up. I have looked at Ford and RAM and I just cannot live without this tailgate so I am trading up to a GMC AT4 2500. Great review Tom. Liked and Subbed.

Your unique perspective is greatly appreciated; as I live in Texas where trucks easily outnumber cars. If you're able to, please review the Chevy/GMC 1500 inline six 3.0 Duramax Diesel. It appears that it gets twice the mileage (24/30+) of its Heavy Duty siblings. All the best to you and your family, Tom.

$78,000 holy sh1t! That’s just the 2500! For that price I can’t see anyone wanting to use it for what it’s built for. These things are status symbols now.

The 3500 is only $1,200 more. Also, plenty of people would still use these for work. Many business owners make enough in a day to make two monthly payments and more than enough in tow months time to afford the entire truck. Mind you, it's also deductible as a business expense. If you spend a lot of time working in your truck and make a decent amount, this is the kind of truck you buy.

This truck is a great base set up as but with an enterior up date, power tail gate, and super cruise. Game over.

This is the Strongest truck on the market and he's 5'9

Woah! You almost look like you were captaining the RMS Titanic.

I do wish he had showed and talked about the Heads Up Display (HUD), while the tailgate is a very cool feature that's pretty obvious, the HUD isn't so obvious when 99% of the driving shots are done from the side view. For towing our trailer, I recently purchased the Chevy version of this truck, which has all these features except the tailgate, and my favorite feature is the HUD when I'm driving. I've yet to purchase and install the secondary camera to my trailer, so like Tom, can't talk about the 'invisible' trailer camera option, but it does look interesting the only downside is you can't always have it on, it only gives you a 15 second timer. I have a 3rd party BT camera which requires a separate display that mounts on the front windshield, but it can stay on all the time. I find these useful when changing lanes especially in heavy traffic. He's right about one thing though, you don't buy ¾ ton trucks to ride around the city in, you use these when you need to tow, or carry heavy loads, otherwise they really are just too big. My five year old ¾ ton did feel smaller than the 2020 model, so you can tell they did make it bigger. Great review and video.

All this talk about your kitchen remodel makes me want to see the final product!

Expect an updated cabin in the 2021 models for Chevy and GMC.

There was information released in August that did the rounds on various online info sources. I think I first read about it on GMAuthority, but they couldn't pin down whether the update would be seen in 2021 or 2022 models.

GM is receiving negative feedback with the 2019-2020 Hd interiors. So the remedy for this was to release a report in regards to a upgraded interior expected for 2021possibly. Also sales have been down for GM with the new pickups. Reason, the interior is dated. 2019 Ram took the #1 spot.

F-series remains #1, but RAM took #2 spot for Chevy. Ford and GM have lost nearly the same percentage of sales versus last year at this time. RAM is up over 20%.

Have the 3500 much more much stiffer suspension and harsher ride than 2500 ? If you happen to know that. With very low inventory around me I can't get ride in 3500 with long box just now. But I driven 2500 with long box and was nice . But think with such small difference in price 3500 will be better deal, if the ride is not so harsh. THX

you're looking at 14mpg average in the 2500 diesel and about 28mpg average in the 1500 diesel. If you don't need the capabilities of the 2500 feel free to double your fuel economy.

Not true on the mileage for the 2500. I have a 2020 and average 17 between towing a boat and normal driving. Highway driving is on average 20 to 21.

I own the 2020 Its great. Make sure your goodyear tires are good I got bad tires on mine Dealer is making it right. Great fuel economy. If you like GMC this it. The 1500 GMC is just not a truck. 2500 is the way to go. Also truck is easy to maneuver and is easier to drive. We use truck for everything.

@@fit4ya1975 Bad run of tires when you test drive make you do not get vibration. Also make sure your truck does not need recall for steering it's a software update.

My Goodyear's on my Denali went into the garbage at 3000 miles for vibration problems

Try doing a U turn in a fully loaded tractor trailer going uphill ( i made a wrong turn ) after doing a hill start (I stalled on take off leaving a 4 way stop) without rolling back because of the cars directly behind you. Driving that Denali anywhere is a walk in the park, for me at least. 😁

This guy is right. People will buy a truck like this and drive it down there suburb streets and city limits, and sadly it will never be used for anything except for hauling a jet ski. Sad how trucks have turned into a just anyone kind of thing.

Tom you sound like the buyer of these trucks, only you aren't compromising for something. You use your brain. Here in Wisconsin i see these in my accounting firm as people daily driver's downtown. Complete with bed cover since it won't ever be used.

Its cheaper to commute and play in one vehicle than it is to have a separate commuter. I have a Grand Cherokee with a 5.7 hemi that I use to daily commute, but I also use it for offroading and towing. I looked at getting a used 2 door civic for commuting and saving the jeep for the weekends, but after insurance payments it would take 17 years to break even, and by then ill be 40 with hopefully a family and by then both vehicles would be 30 years old and not mine, so its cheaper and simpler to just own one heavy duty vehicle and use it for everything. If insurance companies would cut you a fucking break on a second vehicle, especially since its worth half of the jeep, then it would make more sense.

Interior is still behind Ram and the Ford while the Ram has the best interiors at all while Ford comes second and let's see how this truck compares to the newly refreshed Ford Super Duty.

Seen one at Toronto Auto show it's a one big ass truck you need a step lader to reach the engine no joke

And he did not mention the heads up display!!!!

Simply a great competent truck. It’s interior is not in same world as RAM’s and even sadder than a much older higher trim F250 Platinum or King Ranch. What was GM THINKING? They need a redo with interior and add some color like saddle interior and big LCD screens. Just sad.

I want this truck but all that electronic fancy shit has to go. Not worried about that 0-60 in 8 seconds. I'll have that down too 4 seconds a few hours after I get it.. ahhhh fuck it I'll just get a Cummins wooooooo MOPAR BABY!!

Yeah GMC doesn’t have that trailer steering b/c real towers find it worse than using the steering wheel.

Whenever I'm on the freeway, I always notice GMC/Chevy pickups with broken plastic tailgate handles. I don't trust the quality of GM plastic at all. Lots of people are going to be locked out of their GMC bed in a few years.

Ugly. Why no retractable side steps? Why such a small infotainment screen? The interior already looks old and dated. The styling people at GM need to be fired. There is way too much going on the body. KISS - Keep it simple stupid! They will continue to lose sales to Ram and Ford. I’m a die hard GM buyer, but I’m going to pass on this.
