Well who cares if the yanks blew that lead? There was nothing to play for for them. But wouldn't it have been more satisfying to knock them out of the playoffs? Although, I have my own memory as a fan of being almost as happy seeing a rival collapse. All I have to say is I'm a phillies fan the day was September 30, 2007. The mets were the rivals. That was the second greatest day I've had as a Phillies fan. Obviously, October 29, 2008 will always be number one. I'm only 31 so I wasn't around for the 1980 title.

How there wasn’t a 30 for 30 about the end of the 2011 season and that WS, including the EPIC game 6, is beyond me.

Most improbable craziest run I'VE EVER SEEN

This was the best night in Rays history. At the beginning of September, they had a 0.1% chance of making the Wild Card. Sure enough, Boston collapsed throughout the month and lost game 162. Best night in Tampa Bay Baseball history and will never be forgotten. Go Rays.

Jake Taylor Baseball is my favorite sport, but I have to disagree with you there. The NBA's Western Conference playoff seedings from like 2007-2014-ish were almost never settled til the very last game of the season. The competition hasn't been as tight lately, but there were some really fun final nights in recent history.

11 years later and its still warms this O's fan's heart to see Boston go home. Made doubly satifying to see NY lose. What a great night of baseball.

The Orioles fans were just as happy that the Rays took that one. Hell of a night, even for a Marylander like me.

Season started out rough, but by then knew next year would be better.

This was the single greatest night of baseball we’ve ever seen. Nothing has come close since. It’s 2020 and baseball is almost unrecognizable compared to 2011. Way too many rule changes. I was a junior in college watching this coverage in my dorm room. Great times.

When you realize that in 2021 on the 10 year aniversary Rays and Red Sox are having the same battle this time for division title Also the AL East standings heading into September in 2011 and the standings now in 2021 are almost exactly the same Only difference is that the Rays and Yankees switched spots but i have a strong feeling that this division would have a 2011 2.0 for division title

As a Cardinals fan, this was the best season of all time. I started 2011 fighting for my life against cancer - and my reward for surviving was seeing the magical game 6 and the subsequent championship season...

Carp was such a bulldog that season for the Cardinals. He endured a rough regular season. Then comes the late season heroics. The one to nothing shutout of the Phillies in the divisional round was just a thing of beauty. A man refusing to lose.

Gotta be one of if not the best seasons of all time in sports history period. I’m a Cardinals fan so I may be a bit biased but how can a baseball fan not be amazed by everything that happened? There’s 162 games in a season yet it came down to the last game for so many teams to be guaranteed a playoff spot and for so many teams to be guaranteed out of the playoffs. Crazy.

The wildest night in baseball ever

That is by far the most stressful night as a Cardinals I’ve ever been through other than Game 6! I stayed up all night watching that Phillies-Braves game, and as soon as that double play was turned, I broke down in tears! Such a wild night! I highly doubt there will ever be another game 162 night like that one!

Was at the Braves game that night. Freddie Freeman firing the batting helmet into the ground is an image forever burned into my memory. I had no idea that Pete Orr, who was a bit of a cult hero among Braves fans, had scored the tying run for the Phils in the 9th.

I had no particular interest in this night as my team had been long since eliminated. But I stopped on one of the games and decided I would watch for a while. *WOW!* The greatest multi-game channel-changing adrenaline-fest EVER.

I live in St. Louis and that was incredible what the Cardinals did. They were 10 games out of the Playoffs on August 27th and made it, not only to the Playoffs, but they won the 2011 World Series.

The final day of the 2021 regular season may be even crazier with a four way tiebreaker possible in the AL Wild Card and the NL West still undecided.

On August 31, the only way for the Cardinals to make the postseason was for them to be the best team in the NL and the Braves to be the absolute worst. That's exactly what happened.

Really, what caused the Braves collapse was basically their entire pitching staff getting hurt. It was like every starter save for Tim Hudson got injured in September. They just couldn't catch a break.

bowl now As Cardinals fan, I agree. I can’t even imagine how the whole playoffs would’ve turned out had this day went the other way. Also World Series Game 6, probably the best birthday present I can ask for since the day the game was played on (Oct. 27), was my birthday.

Daily reminder that Game 6 of the 2011 World Series is one of, if not the best World Series games of all time.

I'm a longtime Cardinals fan and to see them winniing it all in 2011 was amazing. It was definitely a miracle season.

Don't mind me, just watching baseball videos to get me through this tough time with no baseball. 😭

Chicago White Sox fan for my entire life. But also love the game of baseball. I was watching on TV that night as this played out. The ranks right up there with all the crazy stories about baseball that I read when I was a kid

As a Yankees fan, this was the one time I rooted against them. The Red Sox losing out and having that epic collapse to miss the playoffs completely is one of my fondest memories of this decade of baseball.

I was there that night. We almost left in the 6th inning. An old lady friend of ours we brought to the game, said, “No! Let’s stay. We’re coming back. I can feel it.” I thought, “What does she know about baseball.” But my wife and I agreed to stay anyway. The rest is history. I have had major back surgery 3 months earlier. On Longo’s walk-off I was jumping up and down holding on to my crutches for dear life... I love the Rays. I watch videos of that moment and still get all chocked up.

One of the greatest nights in baseball. Ever. Someone needs to make a movie just about this night. Dan Johnson for Rays, .100 hitters, 2 outs, 2 strikes in the 9th. Hits a home-run for Rays to cap off a 7-0 comeback. Papelbon TWICE, one strike away from putting the Red Sox into the playoffs. Just an unreal night of baseball!

While that home run was awesome by Dan Johnson, there is absolutely no denying that the pitch thrown to him was a complete meatball right down the heart of the plate. Yankees were trying to lose so they didn't have to face Boston

I watch this video all the time.

I remember watching these games in the common room of my college dorm. My roomates were a Red Sox fan and a Rays fan, and it made that night so much wilder and amazing. I hope I never forget that night

I remember thinking Texeira didn't get the memo that he was supposed to lose this game. Luckily Scott Proctor and Golson got the memo.

I will never forget that night at Tropicana, after de 3rd inning I wanted to leave, my then 8 year old son wanted one of the dippin' dots ice creams they sell in the tiny helmets, so I got him one at sat down while he ate it. Thank God he was with me, he's the reason I ended up staying through the most IMPROBABLE, IMPOSSIBLE and ultimately most exiting day in baseball history. What this video doesn't say, is that entering the month Tampa was 9 1/2 games behind Boston, all the Red Sox had to do was win 1 more, or Tampa to lose 1 more game during that month and it was over. But if I remember correctly, they lost 17 of their games INCLUDING that fateful 162. Tampa was 1/2 game behind entering the night, and NY got to an early 7-0 lead, I just thought there was no way that the baseball Gods would smile on Tampa that night like that. - Lester was pitching for Boston and then out of nowhere it started raining, and it rained long enough for Lester (their ACE) to cool off to not be able to get back on the mound - Dan Johnson hits a 2 out, 9 inning, bases empty Home Run to tie the game (he had hit like 100 for the season and only had 1 Home Run the entire year) - Longoria hits 2 Home Runs and has 4 RBI's even though he had been sick for a few days - And adding insult to injury it was a former Rays (Carl Crawford) who missed the last out for Boston that allowed the Orioles to win the game, a guy that Boston payen 170 million in a trade with THE RAYS! It was truly insane!

2nd craziest night of baseball I’ve ever seen! And the craziest would come only a month later in Game 6 of the WS 🤟🏻

I was watching the O's game only once I got home over halfway through the game. All the excitement I needed! Definitely got in trouble for being way to loud as my GF was asleep!

I totally forgot about this day in Baseball, but the video sure brought this crazy night back to my memory.

Best. Night. Ever. Indeed + As a Cardinal fan, that postseason later (2011) was the sweetest.

That was the most epic and thrilling night ever in baseball history. The whole night it was thrills, chills, and nail biting drama. It was insanity. It was crazy. It was fun. Best night ever!

I remember it like it was yesterday, anytime we beat the Yankees it's awesome, but for this night to go the way it went, most epic regular season game of this rays fans life lol

I was focused on Rangers/Angels early on because Texas had to win to secure home field in the ALDS. After they won, I then switched to NYY/TB & BOS/BAL to see who TEX would face.

what a crazy end to the regular season

As a Cardinals fan I’ll never forget that night. I thought the Rays victory was the most unlikely and most impressive though.

This had to be one of the most memorable seasons ever

2011 was one of my favorite baseball seasons I enjoyed

What a crazy awesome night i was there and remember it like yesterday. I was sitting in section 210 where we could see the camera mans feed on the red sox game.

The best night overall in MLB history, bar none. Individual teams may have had more memorable nights, but not overall.

I game here just after the Rays won 2020 WS game 4. What a game!

Anyone remember going to school or work earlier that day and you couldn't stop thinking about what would happen later that night when these games started
