The 2001 Royal Rumble is considered by many fans to be the very best Royal Rumble match in WWF history. Taking place in New Orleans, the 2001 Rumble match featured many of the superstars who made the Attitude Era so special and it also featured some memorable Royal Rumble moments.
Triple H had cost Steve Austin the WWF championship at the beginning of 2001. Austin had a match with champion Kurt Angle, and "The Game" got involved, making sure Stone Cold didn't leave with the gold. Surprisingly, Vince McMahon announced that Triple H was now the number 1 contender and Steve Austin would have to enter the Royal Rumble in order to get another WWF Championship match. Triple H, meanwhile, would get his oppurtunity at the 2001 Royal Rumble pay per view in a singles match with Angle.
For Steve Austin to make it to WrestleMania 17 he had to go up against 29 other superstars including The Rock, Rikishi, The Big Show, The Undertaker, and Kane. This Royal Rumble was also memorable for Kane's incredible performance (eliminating 11 contenders) and the reunion of the Brothers of Destruction. Many will also recall Drew Carey entering this Royal Rumble match.
This video looks at the entire WWF Royal Rumble from 2001. Every entrant and every elimination is covered along with a brief look at the WWF title picture going into the big event.

True, he was a legit monster even more legit than the current version of The Fiend. His body & strength were in his prime. He did a lot of 1 handed chokeslam against his opponents back then and had the power to effortlessly lift big heavy guys on the roster. Creative during this period ruined Kane's booking. Should have at least won 1 Royal Rumble or headlined Mania at least once during his prime. A guy like Kane should have been 5 times World champion minimum instead of 2.

I'm absolutely digging the intro as it's a nice callback to the classic ppv opening. The rumble match for me was a true classic. It had it all, Kane's red hot performance, Big Show returning and laying everyone out, Undertaker and Kane reuniting and cleaning house, Triple H attacking Stone Cold during his entrance, Rock & Austin's epic staredown before they tore into each other which would foreshadow their WM17 war. So many great moments. Royal Rumble 01 is my all favourite rumble ppv Side note: Kurt Angle vs Triple H for the WWF title was a great match because it was such a rare ppv main event to see two guys both working as a heel even though Triple H received quite a good amount of cheers while Kurt Angle was booed out of the building. Excellent coverage of my favourite rumble ppv and keep up the top quality work 👍

1992 rumble was by far the best. I remember I did chores around the house for 2 months to get my Dad to order the pay per view. 10 year old me and my dad ( who's also a wrestling fan) watch that match is something I'll never forget. Since I lost my dad in 99 I've ordered the rumble every year and even have my 10 year old son ready for this years rumble. It was always a memory I had in mind still to this day.. Thank you for the great content and keep up the great work

I don't know how many rumbles you have reviewed but you should do a couple more at least. Most Royal Rumbles around this time started to feel exciting because it really was a case of you didn't know who was going to show up or what would happen. Sadly many modern Rumbles just dont feel exciting a lot of the times and even Kofi's non eliminations are getting too predictable because you know it is going to happen each year.
