The 1970s: A Timeline of Guitar Riffs

Музыка

So following up from my 1960s video (see link below) here is my video timeline of guitar riffs from the 1970s. Obviously, the '70s was an epic decade for guitar music and it's impossible to fit everything into one video, but here are some of the stand-out riffs of the decade.

It’s weird to think of all of these bands being around at the same time. Like, I always have mentally separated, like, Sabbath, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, etc. into different eras of music, even though they’re all the same decade. The 70’s must’ve been one hell of a time for music.

Great job! You brought back a lot of memories for me. I was in high school in the 70's (Class of '76') and I was playing guitar at the time. These are all the hit songs I was record copying. Yep, vinyl 45 and 33-1/3 rpm records in my day...lol!

Huge congratulations on not using a backing track. So many ‘Greatest Riffs’ compilations obscure the riff by embedding it in a version of the original track. Your versions give a clear sense of what the riff would in most cases have sounded like when the guitarist first came up with it.
