I am another fan who watched you rebuild this car. I can remember cringing when I saw the way it was when you got it. An amazing job and a huge amount of work to make it look like it does today. This is the first time I have seen it in color. As I recall, it was in primer for quite a while. Building a hot rod is art and it always has been. Taking a pile of junk and using skill and imagination (and very little money) and turning it into an attractive, functioning automobile is an accomplishment worthy of praise.

Mr Jonathan. This is a perfect example of why I miss your car videos. You mentioned not putting this in a traditional "hotrod " show. This and many other of your builds are the exact definition of hotrodding. Taking what you have and doing what you need to do to make it work. It has been extremely inspiring. Has me looking at things differently than I ever have before. Currently looking for something I can do when I retire in a few years. Seriously considering vehicles that I never would've looked at before I watched your videos. Please don't let the people who have no sight about what's possible, stop you from doing what you love. I truly believe that you can inspire a new generation about being creative about cars. Keep up the great work!

This car turned out beautifully and is a tribute to your ingenuity, keen eye and hard work. It's a traditional hot rod in the best sense of what traditional means. Old school hot rodders worked with what they had or could afford and made the best rod they could come up with. Imagine this car in a high school parking lot back in the late fifties or early sixties, it would have wowed them! Keep up the good work!

Had lots of worn out cars/trucks but kept 57 supercharged Ranch, 57 Ebird, 57 F100 all T85 OD trans 4:11 posi, long tube headers and front disc brakes. 32 essex 4door stretched 6" for 1990 300 6, replaced throttle body with weber side draft, 3 speed, 1960 bird dif and springs and 60 bird moon roof, disc brakes, power steering, AC. Wifes stock 31 hudson rumble seat coup long 8 and 59 bird 390, T85 OD, long tube headers and disc brakes. Suggest toss aluminum insulation, condensation/poor sound barrier, wish I did not know this. Hi Jonathon. I remember this build well. It is the first one I saw on youtube and I was amazed when you started to cut up those old Plymouth fenders and made a different car out of them. I also remember the doors and you decided they must have been from different year cars because of the door handle placement. I was totally inspired by your work on this car and I bought myself a mig welder and started to do some body work on my old cars too. I am a decent mechanic but body work was always a mystery to me and that's why I loved what you did. I am still not really good at it but my work is passable and improving and that is thanks to you. So go easy on yourself. I think you were getting a lot of differing opinions from viewers that you should have done things differently but we all have our own ways of doing things and your car turned out well. You never mentioned the story of the firewall checker board before. Neat. Thanks again. I used to like your junk yard rescues and your look out for snakes. They are not my favorite either. Bye.

Now that it's painted, it's hard to believe how far this project has come. I love it, and the yellow is the best color for it. Also, your shed for it is absolutely awesome! Great job!
Your fabrication skills are really off the charts. I would never have guessed that the body didn't come from the factory that way, the lines are that clean. That is a project to be proud of. I think it looks fantastic.
I remember this build, it's what got me into your videos. I wasn't into the whole steam/boiler stuff, so glad to see you doing cars again. You can see the flaws but this still is a cool machine!
Love this roadster! The stories behind every piece are far more interesting than if you just bought a perfect “kit car”!
It looks awesome! Thank you for sharing the before photos. I totally forgot where you started, but I did watch this the entire build. You should be very proud of how you finished it. I'm really glad I stumbled onto this channel. Whatever you work on, I'll be watching. Thank you
I remember watching this build, you are an awesome fabrication guy, looking forward to seeing it finished and the studebaker too.
That rod is so cool, great to see it again, a lot of work has gone into it but by Christ it was worth it.
This just shows what you can do with determination, scrounging parts, and being able to make what you don't have to put together something to enjoy. You also have a great story to go along with it which to me is priceless. The same can be said for the 60 Plymouth that Scott and friends of Cold War Motors put together. Both these cars are miracles!
I love your videos! Such an amazing history and labor of love. The body may have caused you grief but the work you put into it shows and now you've got a story to tell about it. :) Have a good one!
Wow ! Jonathan , it's not often you do shiny but by heck when you do . Absolutely brilliant . I watched you and your friends put this together and it's turned out beautifully . Love all your videos but it's nice to see the cars again . Best wishes .
Jonathan I think it looks fantastic. I love the yellow. You pointing out the door handles ,I would bet only a purist would notice. You should be proud of this accomplishment.
I think the paint turned out great! If that was mine, I'd enjoy messing with folks over the door handles. "What do you mean they're not in the same place...sure they are, look again!"
I've been wondering about this build for a long time. I'd love to see you get back to doing builds like this.
Looks great! When you mean 'no' exhaust, you really mean it! No manifolds even 😂. I remember really catching heck for starting mine like that, I'd ruin the valves, every manner of horrible stuff was gonna happen, it didn't. You do real nice work.
I have watched this car from the moment you got it. I like this car a bunch. You did a great repair on those quarters. Excellent work.
I remember this whole build,it came out awesome and I love the yellow 👍 As far as the doors being different, you can only see one side at a time,to heck with the haters...... P.S. dig the chain wheel
She looks fantastic! While I don't remember seeing those atrocious 'before' pictures I do remember you building it, piecing those haunches together. Looking forward to your continuing efforts on her. I really like everything you've done with it! Thank you, Jonathan!
Everyone loves you because you're so humble and self deprecating. This build is the epitome of a true hot rod. Pieced together absolutely beautifully and using only what was available in your inventory. Another great story and video.
Hi Jonathan, it was really good seeing this car again what a transformation you put it through it is so nice I can say wow backwards

I remember this build, Thank you for showing it to us now its been painted, I cant wait to see the next episode. Don't worry what people say about the steering wheel, Your building the car for you not for us!
Glad you stayed with the project you can be proud of all your work
I love this stuff! I'd be proud to drive that. Especially knowing how much of a challenge this one was from day one. Please DO continue bringing us videos of how you complete this one. And since the Mrs. likes driving it so much, she can have this one and you get the el Camino back. I REALLY love that car! I had a '68 SS.
Hey Jonathan, glad to see you back working on cars.I watched you years ago build that car,and loved every minute of it! P.S. Looks Great!
Glad to see that you are back on your hot rod builds. It is absolutely amazing what you can build from absolutely nothing. Keep up the good work and I will be looking forward to more hot rod videos.
Hey, Jon. great to see the old roadster out and about again. It will be good for you to be out and about in it this summer. All the best, Mart in England.
That was my favorite series of your videos. The yellow paint really sets it off. And I'm a Y-block fan. I built '32 Ford coup back in the early 80's that was very similar to your car, but I had to sell it to pay off some bills. I kick myself for selling that car! I also loved the hot rod you built for your grandson. I hope it's still around.
We all need a neighbor like this man. Tip top is not saying enough. Thank you again sir. Jim

Amen ! Top shelf , this one . No question in my mind !
Love the raw power and history of the steam engines, You're car and truck builds show us how to get solutions. Interior with sewing and some trick paint steps on a budget, Then the Grandchild builds really show "where it's at". I call it a Grand Slam and nothing else. Great Job and we all feel lucky not to be in the cars you recover for your "Day Job".
Jonathan, The car went from great to unbelievable! Congratulations! Another fun runner to enjoy.
I've been here with you from the start J.W. I've seen the blood swet and tears! awesome, truly awesome ! It's been no!it is so inspiring knowing how they where put together in the 50 and 60 you have done them all proud! They all are looking down saying that's my good buddy J.W.
I watched you build this. It was fascinating how you made this such a nice ascetically pleasing car when you finished it up. The checkerboard and yellow paint just flat out woks on this car. Much much better than just flat black. This looks like what an old roadster hot rod should.
You did the right thing saving this old car and showing people how we built our old hot rods back in the day

You're right about the build. With the scarcity of parts for these old cars, we will have to use whatever we can find to get back on the road. Old school is cool.
I remember watching you build this. And you had a group of friends help with the body work. It turned out beautiful thanks for sharing this update
Thank God you didn't throw that body in the dumpster , you would have to bolt a seat to the frame to drive it 😂👍, you did a seriously good job,it's a sweet lookin ride, love the yellow n new wheels, God speed Johnathon 👍👍👍🇦🇺😎
I remember this build too. This is a traditional hot rod truly built in the traditional way. Thanks, and Meow to Ninja Catscan.
The car looks good . I remember the build well. The wood grain dash you painted still looks great .
This car is a showcase of all your skills in one place.
Watched you build this seems like yesterday this is a testament to what a man can do with a little bit of grit and determination no one cares about the imperfections it is yours and you built it I would be proud to own it,keep it up love all the content
I have watched many of your builds and as I said before, you can sweep up a pile of rust off the floor and make it into a great ride. I am not a yellow fan, but it looks GREAT with the checkerboard firewall!
I enjoyed every minute of this build. A real high point was the dashboard which still pulls my eye. Stunning work! I equally enjoy your steam engines and the ever-growing Steam Yard. If you're doing it, I'm going to be watching! Thanks for your channel!
LOVE THIS BUILD. Jonathan, don't apologize for creating a lovely traditional hot rod. Any fool with $$$ can built an expensive car...Genius does it on the cheap.
It came out beautiful especially considering what it looked like before.
I remember saying the original car looked like a dog dragging it's hind end across a rug. What a transformation under your skilled hands. It wears that yellow quite well.
Great job, Jonathan. I have always liked that car. The yellow color looks good.
It's a handsome car now, you are always full of surprises. I woud be tempted to use a small alternator and dress it up to look like a dynamo, well done once again.
I remember the build on this one , love how its turned out ! Now drive it and enjoy
Mightily impressed with Yblock/T5. First Yblock 57 custom in 1968 with $25 hay baling money, always my favorite V8. I built these from junk on working man wages and they keep me sane through all the hell.
I remember the build on this beauty...it turned out awesome! I'd be proud to drive it anywhere. You really demonstrated some great skills in bringing it to life!
Its 11.00pm thursday nite here in nz.what a gd nite its turned out to be thanks to you.

where in N.Z Mate ?
I would work for free just to be able to hang out with you and work on this stuff. You sure are a master of your craft
People will argue this. But I think your car has more value. Because of the subtle differences. Let alone your willingness to put it back together. Glad I got to meet you hope to visit again someday.
I've been using 6volt generators with 12volt regulaters on my old Dodges when i change them over to 12volts. So far no problems. Watched Iron Trap do that yrs ago on a old ford
that build is very representative of what and how hot rodding and street rods were started. nice paint. think about a father scratching his head wondering what his boy and his buddies were doing with junk in the backyard. they were building a jalopy. but also learning to make do.
I don't understand why you would think it should have scrapped you just described the true definition of hot rodding build with what you have that takes real talent anybody can buy pre-made parts not everyone can build it

Far too much labor for a body that I could have bought quarters for or started with something much closer to a finished product. I look back at the work involved and cringe. Hind sight is 20/20.
As long as you like it, it doesn`t matter if anyone else does. Great job!
I love the old car and trunk contents. . Watching you build something out of nothing is why I subscribed ..
Hey Jonathan..I've all but forgot about this one..i watched you build every part of this car..the color is perfect..i love that Y - Block..couldn't have picked a more appropriate motor..the wheels look fantastic old style American wheels have always been my favorite wheel they will make any car look like a classic..afterall it is a classic..keep us posted ..Cheers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I remember when you did a first start on this old Y Block, sitting on blocks in your yard and you found the plug wires were wrong and why it wouldn't run. That's a beautiful roadster. Anyone should be proud to drive it around anywhere. Excellent engineering on your part, Jonathan!
Bye.
Perfect color! I remember this build.
Not going to lie to you I thought the same thing when you were putting it together however you sure showed what a little time and effort can create, really turned out fantastic hoping to see the side pipes and interior in soon for another run down the road
Man that thing is like Johnny Cash's Cadillac if he had worked in a junk yard. It's coming together to be a beautiful Frankenstein's hot rod. Nice work and lots of it. 👍
This was the car that got me into this channel, nice to see it again.
Just wish I had your talent and i'm so glad you getting back into the cars and hot rods. this roadster is outstanding can wait to see it finished.
I remember when you did this one.. was wondering what happened to it. Now I know, looks great..
Back from the past! That came out great, you should be proud, it was absolute crap when you got it. The body looks 1000% better than I ever thought it would. I like all the colors and the checkerboard too.
Don't let anybody give you grief over the doors , remember you can only see one side of the car at a time . Paint looks like the old hot rod staple , Chrome Yellow Toner .
Anyone that knows you knows you just don't give up! What a beautiful project, she has come a long way and it's time for you to enjoy her. When I saw that yellow it brought back so many old memories almost the same color that my brother-in-law painted my 72 swinger, he said it was Corvette yellow. I said just fine with me, he saved me so much money on that project I could not complain. Thanks for sharing Jonathan!❤❤❤❤
Love the video up date, I watched from start of this build and surprised on how GREAT it looks now.

Never had any reason to believe that it would be anything but nice.
Sweet ride Johnathan love the color. Hello Nanna 🐈 Catscan. She gave her scan of approval.
I too have seen all the work you've put into your build.. That was a while back. Glad your back on it.
love it ,you are one talented country boy ,I would take that over any high dollar hotrod , at a car show you would get all the looks and should, this is how hotrods were born.
Morning Jonathan, I'm glad you didn't destroy the body, you brought it back to life! You mentioned that your Wife likes how it drives...cherish those moments you have with her, I lost my Wife of 25 years this past March...I miss her alot!! y'all be safe!! God Bless!!
Wow,,i watched you build that from pieces,,turned out excellent.
someone send that guy a nice steering wheel. JW, you did a wonderful job, I watched the first video, and I'm amazed. beautiful !!
That Yellow is absolutely perfect
The yellow really pops. Love the dash and checker board
I remember this car awesome build gave me inspiration to finish my car thank you.
I watched every show on this build, your creation of the back of the car was spellbinding!
It's fun to learn the whys and wherefores behind the story. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to seeing it finished. Also I'm watching you and coldwarmotors V8 challenge.
That hot Rod is definitely something to be proud of and this build is what showed that you are an amazing fabricator, absolutely amazing sir.
The paint job really shows off the hard work you out in that beautiful roadster.
