As a fellow 1911 owner, I'll give you a heads-up: John Moses Browning designed this pistol to be carried in Condition 1 Safe (round chambered, hammer back, slidelock safety engaged). I know you said you like Glocks, and while I'll admit that they're difficult to render nonfunctional and shoot great, I prefer something steel-framed. Because if I run out of ammo, and need to utilize the pistol as a 'blunt force trauma' weapon, I gotta know the thing will survive it

In the Infantry only about 5 of us hit expert, but chalked it up to not everyone can shoot 300m. Before the military I had a Crossman 760 pump BB rifle, fired a .22 target pistol and a .22 jr rifle of some sort. I really am not a regular shooter, but have done some since the military, now you hopefully see why I can't tell if this was true praise or not.

In all seriousness my favorite is my first, it’s a para ordinance .45, I bought it used and it was dirty! I personally have put over 2k rounds of target ammo and cleaned it twice, once just because I wanted to tear it down to see how it operates, second just cause, I was broke and got a heck of a deal when I bought it, I’ve fired many others, I guess I’m biased a little. I also love my colt, but the first 1911 still remains completely accurate and faithful

Of course that was during my learning period of around 4k rounds. I used to reload 300 rounds at a time and head on down to the Police Range. I always thought the 1911 would be better with a 6" Barrel. Thanks for the Demo. I may buy one of these.

JMB was a genius the same way Mozart or Bach were, their creations are still timeless. 100 years from now people will have forgotten the pop stars and the polymer pistols of today but I’d bet the classics will still be played and 1911s will still be manufactured.

I am familiar with the gunsmithing feel of a perfectly made firearm you are talking about. That is truly an amazing feeling when you simply hold the firearm and cycle it as well as shoot it too. Alot of old handguns, rifles and shotguns have that feel. Great video, Kentucky Ballistics.

Pretty amazing weapon! I was a squid from the 70's and 80's, and the colt(?) 1911 .45 cal. was the sidearm issued for shipboard security. My only complaint, was that they (the 1911 .45's) were probably from the vietnam war, and worn out pretty good. No target practice, just fam fire into the dirt berm (if you could hit it!). But yes, i agree, a six inch barrel would be a much more accurate and powerful weapon (especially if it wasn't 20 years old).
