As a 60 year old metalhead who has appreciated greats like Led Zeppelin Deep Purple Judas Priest ACDC Metallica and so on I have never experienced the impact of a singer like Floor Jansen. She and Nightwish had such an effect on me that in June 2023 we flew all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦 to Gelsinkirchin Germany 🇩🇪 to watch this Valkyrie perform and at 5 months pregnant it was a privilege and honor.

Too bad, you didn't see the early Nightwish. Yes, Floor is great, but Nightwish original vocalist, Tarja, is absolutely epic. The early Nightwish was something that's never been quite equaled. You should go back and look at some of their earlier stuff like wishes to eternity and End of an Era.

Floor is simply is a BETTER singer, and Floor is A LOT MORE EPIC than Tarja. For instance Tarja's rendition of Ghost Love Score is simply weak when compared to Floor's. And that goes for most cases where they have sung the same song...

Bloke, Tarja is a technically severely limited, wannabee classical/opera singer who is not good enough for the real opera or classical music scene, and who is too limited for a metal singer. Tarja can sing only one style, at which she is not very good either. Tarja's notes are often wobbly, she often has pitch problems, she has a bad accent, her control over vowels is bad and her register changes are clunky. All things that Floor is a MASTER at. And where Tarja can sing only one style, Floor can do anything she likes: from deep death growls, to classical/operatic singing (sometimes in one sentence, or word) to powerfull belting, to beautifull clean celtic / folky singing, rock singing with distortion, using twang and vocal cry where necessary and yes.. even poppy singing when the story of the song calls for it. Floor does all these things at the flick of a dime, with great ease. Meanwhile Tarja is just struggling to get her quasi operatic notes out. Floor is a 1000x better singer than Tarja.

@@guyvandurme7228 Same - Charlotte is a MUCH better fit for #1 than most on this list, since we're limiting it to metal artists. Otherwise I'd go old school and Grace Slick from the timeframe of Red Octopus, or early Nancy Wilson (Heart).

How you can make this list with only a single Japanese artist on it beggars belief. Right now Japan is the world's epicentre for extraordinary female metal musicians and most of them are drop dead gorgeous as well. Go away and take a look at Lovebites, Nemophila, Aldious, Gacharic Spin, Babymetal, Bridear, Asterism, Unlucky Morpheus, Wagakki Band Band Maid and a few dozen more and then come back and tell me who are the most beautiful women in metal!

There are Legends I haven't included as well, for example Doro, Lita Ford and Joan Jett, but to be honest I mainly listen to my 1, 2, 3 and 4 (in that order) and 5 less often or just a song or two over a longer period.

I think Floor is the best female metal singer on the planet, but I've just never found her particularly attractive. I realise this comes down to personal taste, but when I look at a band like Rolling Quartz from South Korea (hard rock rather than metal), all of their members are stunningly gorgeous, as in they could be models.

@@1970Phoenix Well, that is your personal taste indeed. For me as a man Floor is a stunningly beautifull woman, in a way that goes much deeper than just simple "pretty". She has a fantastic physique (built like an Olympic swimmer or athlete, with long straight legs and arms and perfect proportions) and a beautifull face that has many expressions and can be stunningly beautifull (especially when she is singing), and sometimes a bit drawn.. but that only makes her more interesting. Most of these other singers do nothing for me. Only Simone Simons I also find very attractive. She has a very beautifull face and there is special "undefinable quality" about her that sets her apart from the average singer. These other singers and especially those girls from Rolling Quartz have no physical or emotional attraction for me. I find them small and scrawny, and their facial features don't talk to me. But hey, it is as you say, in these things it is about personal taste, and this is certainly no value judgement, because all human beings, small, tall, thin, thick, beautifull or not so beautifull and of any color or race are just valuable to me. NB. Looking at your name: you are a woman is it not?

As much as I love Floor and appreciate her unmatched talent to sing EVERYTHING... there is just NOONE that compares to Tarja. Vocally and personally. She is just different, I appreciate her so much. And, btw, talking about comparissons between VoA's new singer and Tarja is BLASPHEMY. This is just nonsense. At least pick VoA BY SO F*ING FAR best singer - Melissa Ferlaak - when doing such a nonsensical comparisson...

And also Floor has by FAR the strongest and most emotive stage personality. But if you like Tarja better, good luck to you. By the way, I just looked up Melissa Ferlaak (I had never heard of her..) and I can understand why you like her: she has that same kind of throatyness in her sound that Tarja has (and which I don't like at all...)

And her LOOKS hurt - she MIGHT have been fairly pretty before all those ICK tatoos and getting old, but she'd definitely NOT pretty now. Charlotte or Sharon can sing RINGS around Floor - it's not even in the same ballpark - not to mention quite a few other singers in or out of metal. And I don't CARE what her nickname is. I wouldn't even call her the best singer of Nightwish ever. I seriously don't understand the adoration of Floor, and probably never will. BTW - I don't count "growl" as singing - that stuff is SERIOUS ick, right down there with most rap.

Interesting list, I disagree on some points, but let me point out just one: Saki from the band Cyntia is a beautiful and talented singer, but in the J Metal scene there are names that are more relevant due to talent and even beauty, performers like: Kuroneko/Onmyouza Minako Nakamura/Destrose Fuyuki Tenge/Unlucky Morpheus Saki/Mary's Blood Re:NO/Aldious Mayu/Nemophila Asami/Lovebites Marina Bozzio/Aldious Midori/Lovebites Ayasa/East of Eden Akane Liv/ Live Moon Yuki/ D_Drive etc, etc, etc Additionally, Cyntia's musical style is closer to pop rock and hard rock than metal. 😉

I never like it when people make lists like this…… everything is so subjective everyone has their own favorites, and everyone has their own set of criteria, so until you come up with an agreed-upon rubric for evaluating singers, it is impossible to agree on a list, and all that happens is people sit here and argue. Not to hurt your feelings, but this is the most F’d up ranking list I’ve seen in awhile. You should have taken about half of these ladies and put them in a separate video entitled “OK looking female vocalists in obscure metal bands that I’d you all to know about”. In my opinion Nita Strauss and Dora, are the only ones on this list that belongs. Where's Lena Scissorhands, Alyssa White-Glutz, Melissa Bony, Heidi Shepard and Carla Harvey, Cristina Scabbia, Dorothy Martin?

There is Alissa....this list is lacking she should be on the top 5

Although I'm a Nightwish fan, Elize Ryd ( Amaranthe) is my favorite, but she's not listed here. Why? 🤔

the ladies themself never really appreciated lists that focus on apperance for all i know. but with that said, there are plenty of good looking women currently active in metal this list managed to miss. oh well, you manged to put Simone in first spot so you did one thing right. also, not all shots of no 2. are actually of the singer mentioned, some are of the bands previous singer.

@@ChadTheDragonLord they dabble in all forms of rock: from metal to hard rock to punk rock to post-punk to grunge to altrernative rock to power balads, all things rock are fertile ground for their creativity. And i think this is what it should be. They are doing everything right. And yes, all ofthem are very easy on the eyes. My favorite is Alejandra, which is kinda ironic for me as i have a huge preference for redheads and blondes. When i find myself in awe of the beauty of a dark eyed brunette I call it the Monica Belluci Effect, for how much i love a brunette woman looks despite being different from my preferences.

Seriously... What's wrong with you? Not having Alissa White-Gluz at number 1 is strange enough, but not having her on the list at all really comes across as quite strange.

You forgot the most beautiful and that is Alissa White-Gluz.

Beauty is secondary when it comes to music. No one ever bothered about the "beauty" of male musicians, so why focus on beauty when it comes to the women?!!

Maby secondary,but all research about beauty tells,that beautifull people have often more success in all kinds of professions than ,let's say,not so beautufull people.But i agree that,it say's nothing about how good they perform in their profession. Looking good helps.😉

Dany 😅 TW is a hard rock band, like Halestorm, not metal. Daria Zaritskaya is also super pretty and super brutal, but she is still rock vocalist. Sometimes hard rock sound , "harder" then metal😅 Clementine Delauney is a metal 🖤
