100 runs in less than 3 minutes? Man I wish this video was a lot longer! As someone who has not read nearly any of these, I would have liked if you could have given a short description of each one or why you liked it so much and added it to your top 100. You could have broken this into several videos worth counting down your top 100!

This is called straight to the point
I’d need to add in Kabuki and I know you had Frank Miller’s DD run in there, but specifically I’d include his DD Man Without Fear limited series. Great video as always, would like to see hear some more detail on these as not come across quite a few before!
I love when you do this kind of video! My favorite content you make.

Thanks!
So glad you included Ennis and McCrea's Hitman, Morrison's JLA, the Ellis/Cassaday Planetary and the Ennis Punisher. So many great titles and I've read maybe 15 of them; much to my shame, I've only read a couple of Will Eisner works (so far). I'd have to include David Mack's Kabuki in the list near the top as a superior example of sustained artistic and writing brilliance.

I can’t believe I actually agree with your list. I loveeee Moore, Johns and Hickman even tho I’ve been burnt out on superhero’s for the last 10 years. Well done!
I would have absolutely added Frank Miller’s 😊“300”. Maybe a near bottom of the list nod to “Ronin” and/or “Tokyo Ghost” for dystopian future reads.
Thanks for this video. Very straightforward. Keep up the good work. 😁
Nice list. I would add "Murder Falcon" here, not only in the top 100 but top 10. Another great DC book is "Superman secret identity".
Great vid as always buddy!
Looks great, sir!
Oooff keeps the great content coming
hmm - maybe i would fit 'the crow' in there somewhere... i also really loved 300 and Sin City. Just recently read john kellys batman vs. dracular books... as not that big a batman fan - those books are fin amazing. For Kraven's last hunt - this book blew my mind when i bought it back then (guess i was about 10)... bone and chew also top favourites of mine... love you also included something so recent like department of truth... currently one of the best books out there imho.
I was surprised by seeing Maus in the list and at such a high placing. It really is a special novel, i read it at a young age, so it have a bit of nostalgia, but i really want to read it again with a more mature insight.
Man just goes to show you've read so much more than I even though I am "the comic guy" within my own family. Anyway excellent list!
Props for including Contract with God; I'd add Concrete and (likely many others) Dark Phoenix Saga

Have a collection from when I was a kid around 1990. Incredible Hulk 181, ASM 129, NM98, Death of Superman… Lots like that. Most of the run of Batman and Detective Comics (starting w/ death in the family through a bit after Year 3). Nothing but NM98 is sure to be 9.6-9.8. Worth grading any or should I just keep them in their boxes and sell as a collection in several years?
Personally I would’ve added Lone Wolf and Cub and Iron Man Demon in a Bottle. Great list!
Solid list.
I loved "The Invisibles." (Grant Morrison) I'm sure many do not. But I did. By the way, your service is excellent. Quick shipping, great packaging, and no sneaky added charges.
Quite a few of those I don’t know, but it is certainly incomplete without some mention of Claremont’s XMen or the Claremont/ Miller Wolverine…
Serious house on serious earth is probably my next novel
Superman Red Son is one of the top 10 of all-time i think, as is Daredevil Born Again, and Sheriff of Babylon by Tom King/ Mitch Gerads
Love the Batman and the Morrison representation but have you not read Irredeemable? It has to be on that list.

Haven't read many of the novels listed. Guess I've got a lot of reading ahead of me. In the meanwhile, in no particular order, listed below are the novels not mentioned. *American Flagg* by Howard Chaykin *Batman Strange Apparitions* by Steve Engelhart & Marshall Rogers *Green Lantern/Green Arrow* by Dennis O'Neil & Neal Adams *Mister X* by Dean Motter *Batman/Grendel* by Matt Wagner *Captain America: White, Daredevil: Yellow, Spider-Man: Blue, Hulk: Gray* by Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale *Grendel: Red White & Black, Grendel: Black, White & Red* by Matt Wagner
I'll start by saying my list is both bias and I just haven't read tons of series 5 - Invincible (only read 1st compendium so far but love it) 4 - Judge Dredd: The Pit 3 - Walking Dead 2 - Watchmen 1 - Judge Dredd: America my top ten was mostly populated with Dredd arcs so here a top 5 lol
Top 5 runs I've read SO FAR (and that I can think of recently): 5. Clean Room: Simone 4. Plastic: Wagner 3. The Lone Ranger: Russell 2. Starman: Robinson 1. Hawkman: Venditti (biased, lol)

Would suggest "100 best comic runs" as a title to avoid confusion.
@jimbomba4365
Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Of the books listed, the only ones that were actual graphic novels were Maus, Arkham Asylum, A Contract with God, and maybe Killing Joke (I'm tempted to call it a one-shot myself, but it's at least longer than a traditional comic book). The rest were reprinted collections of limited and ongoing series, which are only graphic novels if you are using the term as a catch all for any trade paperback or hardcover that collects comic book content.
@glennwatson3313
4 ай бұрын
I said the same. Most of these are good stories and nice runs but not graphic novels in my book. I might stretch the definition of graphic novels to include a collected mini series like Watchmen or Golden Age that were always meant to be collected into one book. But a run on Daredevil is not a graphic novel unless all comics are graphic novels now.
My favorites, more or less: 1. Watchmen (Moore & Gibbons) 2. Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth (C. Ware) 3. Black Hole (C. Burnes) 4. From Hell (Moore & Campbell) 5. My Friend Dahmer (Derf) 6. Berlin (J. Lutes) 7. Sabrina (N. Drnaso) 8. Multiple Warheads (B. Graham) 9. Uzamaki (J. Ito) 10. Acting Class (N. Drnaso)

Persepolis rules!
Just have to say that Dreadstar is way higher on list for me. Especially most of the first 24 issues.
I would add Good Asian, Something is Killing the Children, and Gideon Falls
DMZ, Sin City, Tom Strong, Ronin and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Make a longer version
Honestly, that's a great list. The only thing I can think of, off the top of my head, that you didn't mention would be The Maxx. But that only counts as a graphic novel if you count reprints of monthly issues.
Definitely add Frank Miller's hard-boiled and and Geoff Jones Shaolin cowboy and Frank Miller's Daredevil original run Bernie wrightson original Swamp Thing run but I agree with most of your list being DC and Indies always felt DC and Indies had better stories an artwork than Marvel
For me, I’d have to add Thor:God of Thunder, Many Deaths of Laila Starr, these savage shores, do a power bomb, and infamous iron man.
Criminal, Deadly Class, Brubaker Captain America, Sandman, jason Aaron's Thor, The Many Deaths if Laila Starr, infidel, Fatale, Desender/Asunder, and Locke & Key. Honorable Mention Moore's Swamp Thing and of course Watchman is great
I would put Daredevil Born Again by Frank Miller
All Star Superman, Black Hammer & TDKR are all too low but great list otherwise! You should check out: Crisis on Infinite Earths (definitely a big influence on Infinity Gauntlet & Hickman Avengers) Claremont & Byrne X-men Jason Aaron & RM Guera’s Scalped, which is a straight up masterpiece if you like crime comics. Also The Savage Dragon since you like Hellboy and Invincible.

10 - Iron Man: Extremis 9 - Superman: Space Age 8 - DC: The New Frontier 7 - Batman: Fortress 6 - Captain America: White 5 - Nightwing: Leaping Into the Light 4 - Superman For All Seasons 3 - The Walking Dead 2 - Detective Comics: Terminal 1 - Batman: Year One I wanna add at least one Sin City graphic novel, but I haven't read any of them in nearly 10 years. If I were including one-shots, I would remove Iron Man: Extremis, keep the top 2 the same, and move the rest down to make room for "Dante" (Image Comics) at #3.
I would have added "HAPPY!" By Grant Morrison
I would say Batman Hush, Death and Return of Superman, and the Star Wars Dark Empire series should be on that list. Those are easy ones to reread again and again. Oh and Transformers More Than Meets the Eye IDW series is a sneaky add.

I know there are some Western comics people always cite as "the greatest". But I don't feel like there's ACTUALLY a definitive and widely popular list of the greatest western comics. If you look at Japanese Manga in comparison, there's a pretty clear cut list of the greatest works. Whereas in the west you kind of have two different lists, one would be popularity, and the other would be quality of the work and the specific run. This whole tradition of western comics to just make endless runs that never really conclude or when they do they are rebooted several times over makes it impossible to for instance reconcile the popularity of a character like Spider-man, and actually cite exactly WHICH of his comics and runs are legitimately GOOD all the way through. In fact the two lists differ to such an extent that while you may find Spider-man at the top of popularity you will barely find any spider-man comics ACTUALLY at the top of stories. There's also a massive problem with old stories, and old art becoming extremely outdated. The initial Spawn run for instance looks insanely amateur to the current comics. This adds an additional category for the "best comics" of all time, which would be the "best for their time" category. Because MOST of these don't actually hold up. One thing I really wish we'd see more of in DC and Marvel and other big comic IPs is remakes, not just reboots. But actual rewritten and repainted DEFINITIVE versions of the classical stories. Modernized and adapted to modern quality, while retaining the foundation and classic stories to a large degree. I feel like that would be such a great way to rejuvinate and basically honor the legacy stories. While working somewhat like a movie adaptation, where you may cut, alter, improve designs etc to fit a higher quality definitive version with new art and everything. Oh well.
Watchmen is deserving - Sin City tho?
Green Arrow & The Longbow Hunters saga gotta be top 50 imo.

I don’t really get what everyone loves about Persepolis? I read the first book and wasn’t all that impressed. Didn’t even feel the need to read the second. @@Riseofziggy JoJo definitely should be high up. Also AoT. I hate deathnote - so talky, there’s no reason for it to be a manga and bad art. Uzumaki - unique, creepy, interesting, but one-note and ultimately shallow. A curiosity that’s worth experiencing but I wouldnt rate it that highly. Chainsaw man I’ve read a few volumes of; ill have to get back to that at some point. The thing is there is just so much good manga its overwhelming, and very few comics that even come close. @@Riseofziggy i do like hellblazer especially the early part and Garth Ennis run and also Moore’s swamp thing. My problem is these works aren’t really visual and don’t make proper use of the medium. They’re antiquated relics of the past, based on 30s pulps with their attendant stiffness and verbosity that predate major developments in film and animation. Whereas manga was influenced by Disney and Kurosawa and has always had excellent visual storytelling, and Franco Belgian comics have a large Disney influence.
