The 10-Shot Paul Spitale Drill with Bill Wilson and Ken Hackathorn - Master Class Ep. 23
Спорт
These days, everybody is feeling the squeeze from the major ammo shortages, and this can really cut into your considerations about what to do at the range to keep your perishable skills sharp. In this episode of Master Class, and in the next several to come, Ken Hackathorn goes over some drills that are designed to freshen up a wide variety of skills without cutting too deeply into your stacks. Bill Wilson joins Ken for this demonstration, shooting one of the new SFX9-S solid frame double stack 9mm subcompacts, built for optimal concealment and reliability.

I really enjoy these videos with you guys. Ken and Bill, i’ll take my hat of for you two gentlemen. 👍🏻🇳🇴
I really enjoy it when you give these drills to us I will definitely try it thanks again
You guys are fantastic keep up the great work.
Enjoy Your Drills..Keep Them Coming
In recent years, I have changed my shooting style and mental shooting mind set. Previously, I kept a tunnel vision focus on the target and pistol held positions for maximum accuracy. After a lot of thought about various unexpected engagement positions, plus reading/viewing all available training materials, I have moved to simply getting my weapon out cleanly, moving it toward/to the target and firing as the site view initially meets where I want to hit. I have always thought about there being multiple targets, as opposed to one. This simplification has been liberating, as I feel more relaxed about achieving my desire for a successful defense, and not just standing there like rod drove in ground waiting for a perfect alignment with the North Star, etc. With the 9mm and 380's, I now fire 5 shots in practice mode, spreading them across the chest or groin of the target. With a 1911 set up in 45 cal I shot 3. I think this is the way to go! Peace.
Thanks Ken! Paul is seriously good people and we need more firearms industry executives like him.
You guys are the best!!!
I been waiting for a new drill with Ken!
Good run Sir Wilson 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing your expertise
Thanks for another great video!
Outstanding as always men! Love to have any of the x series of pistols.

Hey guys, I want one of those 120 round pistols Biden was talking about. Gentlemen my carry weapon holds 8 rounds with one in the chamber , that is enough , Semper Fidelis.

This was /is a cool drill and I plan to shoot it this weeks range trip. I'll probably be a sad joke at this... but it'll be fun! I have several things I want to try... this will be first.
Love the new size wish it was legal up here in Canada
Awesome gun. I wish we can get them in South Africa.

what's the name of the opening music? This masterclass is so much fun, I even would like to listen the opening theme
I noticed that Bill’s finger comes out of the trigger guard and Ken’s comes off the trigger. Is this the preferred technique for 1911’ish pistols? I ask because at speed with EDC X9 when staging the trigger sometimes it doesn’t reset. BTW, Great Channel and Drills oh and Guns & Ammo! Thanks
Now that’s nice 1911 great job on that

If you are working with 10 round mags , I’m Wondering if training & shooting in groups of 3 (2 to the body one to head) why not stop @ 9 shots & reload with one in chamber?
Did someone say 4” version? X9 sized frame? Regards, Marky

excellent...I was taught hip shooting at 3 yards, no one teaches that anymore

I'm betting it was Bill that pulled up in that wide body Charger.
Any plans to make this in .40S&W or .45 GAP? Great shooting!

I'll add a vote for the 45 GAP. It was unfortunate it did not work out in what became the Springfield EMP. 45 GAP in a Glock is still one of my wifes favs
Does Bill always conceal carry with his shirt half way unbuttoned? Like to see that drill again with his shirt fully buttoned. But I do like the drill.
As in active self protection video, bill is wearing the same shirt I believe with two buttons unbuttoned
Seems Bill was not using his normal thumbs down grip. Instead he was using a thumbs forward grip. Ken didn't give us Bill's 3rd stage time or total time.
I am a pastor and carry concealed. I have an old suit coat I take to the range and practice with. Try to make your training as real as possible.
In the real world after two to the body that head won’t be in the same place it was just waiting for that third shot, any training exercises for that.
Elisjsha Dickens begs to differ
Y’all are cute but I keep eying that wide body hellcat charger in the background 😂 Mopar or no car
You never gave the time for his third string so what was Bill‘s overall score?🙄 also for the final shot he told him to put one round on the 10 yard target and he shot the 7 yard target
@akcarlos
2 жыл бұрын
Using the youtube second counter I estimate that third one was 4 seconds approximately. that gives a total of 14.4 seconds plus 1 extra second for the missed head shot and minus half a second for the concealed draw and I think it puts him in the border between "exceptionally good" and "good". That's quite amazing on a pistol he hasn't used before!

Looks like Ken meant the 7 Yard Target Head. The 10 Yard Target has no head. Good drill.
Don't know about anyone else, but on the slow mo replay, I saw that weapon bouncing and moving all over in his hands... Just as you would expect it to do. 'Nuff said!!!...

I certainly do not understand how Bill can shoot so well slapping that trigger and handling the gun in between shots like he does, but the results are there in multiple vids to see that Bill can shoot.

Um, Forgive me, but looks like Bill's new pistol did twist to his right upon firing, thinner grips notwithstanding. Did I see that wrong?
@Snookynibbles

@Shawn McConnell, what the vid of the drill fails to provide is the gripping tension employed, which of course is a big factor in managing recoil.
No. Ten yards is ten yards in the real world. Also Ken. I think a sun dial would be much more useful than the PACT.

you can only do that at a private range I could never do that it's not shoot it it's being able to shoot two targets at a time

I can do that at my public range. Certainly not just for "private" ranges.
Bill couldn’t help but notice your right hand and forearm twitching after drill . I hope you’re ok.
I'd say going back for that second head shot is pretty unnecessary with Bill shooting.
Why does this make me want to buy one only to find it out of stock…sad….

So Paul is responsible for colt being the crap company it is today. My 2019 commander needed work under warranty, I called every day for months and no one ever called me back, Had to pay my gunsmith to fix it. All my money is going to Springfield from now on. When you call them, they actually answer the god damm phone!!!
I can't believe that I'm saying this to a firearms industry legend, what's with the poorly executed grip Bill!?!?
Anyone else smell bull
Just a note to you Ken. Wilson Combat is in the by-gone era. They have become to large and everything is just a number now. I have 4 Wilson guns, all pistols at an investment of over $14K and they all have issues. One especially, a CQB Elite in 9 mm has been back to Wilson so many times that it can get there on its own now and it still isn't right! Simple sight issues. They just won't fix it right! They sure do charge me for it! The last time they even charged me for work and parts that they didn't even do, that is pretty bad! Plus they would not even return my phone calls after taking my money for work they didn't do! So much so I could have bought another gun, never mind all of the freight, another gun, and the aggravation and time take all if any fun out of shooting! To bad, they were much better when they were small. They have outgrown their usefulness and the quality is no longer there, you are paying for it. Nuff said!
