Scariest guitar sound ever! Take a wah wah pedal and hook it up backwards, the step on the wah pedal. It sounds like really creepy seagulls or crows. David Gilmour did this in the middle of Pink Floyd's 'Echoes'.

hit a harmonic on the next note (pinch or natural), it'll come out sounding a bit brighter so it'll ride on top in the repeat and cover it up good. For a real trippy sound play with the time knob on your delay while letting notes ring out.

Freaky siren noise- Pre-bend the 14th fret and tap the 16th on the G string. Slowly release the bend and keep tapping. Cool when you add reverb. Came up with it myself lol.

The scariest sound I ever got out from electric guitar was on my early days when I just got my first guitar set. I tweaked with the amplifier, I put all eq to 0% and spring reverb 100%. I think that was creepiest thing I heard.

The droid sound with the whammy bar: I wrote a piece called "The Vicious Groove" for a college recording class. It featured heavy 80s style riffs and rhythms over a techno beat and all the melodies and noises were produced this way (like letting the whammy bar drop and bounce on the strings). While we were working on the piece in a practice room, the crazy sounds brought the Dean out of his office looking around because he thought there were birds loose inside the halls (the sounds were a little muffled through the closed doors of the practice room). He traced it to us and thought it had a good laugh. All these crazy sounds are so fun to use and abuse.

Another good one is bending a low e string note to the top of the fretboard until it reaches the top of the guitar, off the fretboard. This will give a continuous distorted noise as long as you hold the bend.

So cool... its a blessing when people share their knowledge they have earned !!!!!

I've got one more for you, I call it "The call of Cthulhu". It is quite similar to "Ghostly howls" at 4:00 . Turn you guitar volume down to 0, then start a slow bend, while doing the bend, turn the volume up little by little. Once you've reached the highest note with your bend, the volume should be maximum. As you unbend, turn the volume down. The result sounds like a gigantic sea monster roaring. It works better with reverb. That's it ! ^^ (jeez, this is realy tricky to explain, it is so much easier in video...)

This works best on a fretless bass. Turn the amp volume and gain up, then press your headstock against your cabinet. The resonance Will create a deep feedback that will shake the room, then you can slowly slide your "fretted" note up and down to alter the dominant resonant frequency.

An effect I just learned is placing a slide over harmonics and fingerpick the strings behind the slide while slightly moving the slide up and down in quarter tones. It works great with harmonics and distortion. You have to be very light with the slide and picking otherwise it sounds clanky and can ruin the sustain.

Also, just placing a finger across the fretboard (preferably low down) on different angles to the frets can create some real spook if you hit the right spot. A fair bit of gain needed!

The thing at 3:06 in physics it's called a beat where 2 frequencies that are under 10hz apart superimpose each to fom a single wave and every superimposition is where the beat occurs, it goes away when the frequencies are farther apart but it's a cool trick we all did in school with tuning forks to create a beat of various frequencies.

That's true

Tony Iommi used to make a lot of scary riffs using his SGs with heavy distortion. One excellent example is the riff in the middle of Children of the grave.

I've spent a ton of time making spoopy guitar sounds but these are quality.

1:55 this one is used in bohemian rhapsody in the "send shivers down my spine" but applied more gently haha
