Well a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song, and he told me it was the perfect country and western song, I wrote him back a letter and told him it was NOT the perfect country and western song, because he hadn't said anything at all, about mama, or trains, or trucks, or prison...or gettin drunk..well he sat down and wrote another verse to the song, and he sent it to me, and after readin it, I realized my friend had written the perfect country and western song, and I felt obliged to include it on this album, the last verse goes like this here... One of my childhood favorites and still.is one of my favorites!

I stumbled across you tonight for the first time. I've been listening to Country for almost 60 years, and the way you described Dolly was unbelievable. You really understand her and her music. In fact, you seem to have an incredible ability to feel the artist's joy and pain through their music. It's a gift, you know.

Cool List! I absolutely adore the song, "Fishin' in the Dark"! :D "Forever and Ever Amen" will always be, one of my top favorites, from Randy Travis! I remember hearing it, for the 1st time, when I was 17 years old, and just giggling at the line, "as long as old men, sit and talk about the weather, and as long as old women sit, and talk about old men"! I was lucky, to be raised around, my Great Grandparents (my maternal Grandparents, actually raised me, so they were, for all intents, and purposes, my Mom & Dad), so I could COMPLETELY, relate to this song, because I saw it, in action! :D This song also started my love for most all of Randy's songs!

Love the inclusion of "Wide Open Spaces." Like you, I grew up in the 90s and early 2000s with so many amazing female country artists. They were on the radio and you saw their music videos all the time. Also, I'll never forget seeing the video for "Hurt" for the first time. I still get emotional every time I watch it. Had never heard of "Waiting on June" but listened to it and it gave me chills. Love it.

This took me a long time LOL. 10) Buy me a Boat - Chris Jansen I was in Middle School when this song came out and the lyrics of this song made me laugh the first time I listened to it. "I wish I had a rich uncle that would kick the bucket" just made my day the first time I listened to it. I'd me lying if I thought this song had substance, but for me the laugh was all I needed with this song. 9) Angels among us- Alabama Everytime I talk with someone about Alabama, the songs people think of are "Song of the South", "Mountain Music" and "Dixieland Delight". While all great, I got to sing this song at my Elementary School Graduation. A little while ago, this song popped up on Spotify and made me nostalgic for a time when I still got to be around people making music. As a music student, this is something that I've yearned for recently, but not easily accessible due to the pandemic. 8) Long Black Train- Josh Turner Known mainly for "Your Man" and "Why don't we just dance", this song has always gotten me more than the others. The song is giving metaphoric look at temptation. I feel that Turner has one of the most crisp bass voices known to man. 7) Little Toy Guns - Carrie Underwood This was a tough one. I knew I wanted to include Carrie Underwood on the list. The mood of her songs has a good history of relating to the mood of the lyrics. If I had to choose others it would be "Before he Cheats", "Something in the Water" and "Two Black Cadillacs". 6) If I die young- The Band Perry I feel as though taking a deeper look at the lyrics of this song can't help but make one emotional. The lyrics don't reflect that of anger or sadness but we see death through the lens of the person that died. An interpretation of it. One of the most beautiful ballads of country music of all time 5) Chattahoochee- Alan Jackson Another hard decision, he's got too many good ones. The guitar lick in this song is one of my favorites of all time. It was between this one and "Five o'clock Somewhere." Jackson has an art of making a song relatable to anyone. 4) Online - Brad Paisley I have an autographed copy of this album. Lord knows, how many people have ever laughed to any Brad Paisley song "I'm Gonna Miss Her", "Ticks", "I'm Still a Guy". The reason I chose this song however, is because of the relatability I have to the main character in the song. I feel this way because I play the tuba in the marching band and live in a basement. While others might see this one differently as making fun, I fall into two of the categories and I'm living proof that for me at least its all in good nature. 3) Come Monday- Jimmy Buffett I've always felt like I fit into more of the beachy country music over other sub-genres. I love Buffett's style, because of the unique style he possesses to his country music. When I was a kid, the album "Songs you know by heart" was on repeat in the car constantly. We skipped track 9 though, look up the album to understand why. 2) Toes - Zac Brown Band Zac Brown is to me what Jimmy Buffett was to my parents. He's at a crossroads when it comes to genres like Buffett. The reason I picked this song was that the chorus always seemed memorable for me. Honorable mentions for Brown are "Sweet Annie", "I Play the Road", "My Old Man", "Loving you Easy" and "Knee Deep". Some of my favorite memories were made with these songs. 1) Life is a Highway - Rascal Flatts I didn't pick the original for a reason. My favorite movie growing up as a kid was Pixar's Cars. It exposed me to a plethora of Country Music Artists. This one hits it home however with the upbeat tempo and one of my favorite bass lines of all time. Wow that took a while!

The thing I love about this list is the thing I love about music in general. You picked songs that have an emotional connection to you, whether they remind you of amazing times, make you feel happy, touch you in emotional ways, or bring back strong memories of being a child and discovering the power of music, lyrics, and vocals. In most cases, I would have made different choices, but they would have been choices based on my memories and emotional connections, and again, that's why I love music. It's a very personal experience that's unique for each listener. I will make one comment about Toby Keith since you opened that door. I had just turned 36 when that happened (my birthday is actually September 11th), and those attacks devastated me and still play a part in who I am. When Alan Jackson came out with his tribute, I liked that he acknowledged the fact that most people don't know the difference between Iran and Iraq and were just trying to make sense out of a very bewildering, shocking event. It's one thing to hear about terrorist attacks, it's a whole 'nother thing to watch it happening live on TV to your neighbors and family. So I appreciated what Alan was trying to say. But Toby Keith's tribute/reaction was about the anger, the need to fight back against what had up until then been completely unimaginable, and I couldn't have appreciated that song more. It felt cathartic, it felt like it was allowing me to express my own anger, my own fear, my own realization that safety isn't a guarantee. I am fans of the Dixie Chicks, I supported them through the unnecessary crap they went through because they used their right to talk freely to express their disappointment in a president (their main sin was that the president in question that they criticized was a Republican instead of a Democrat, the hypocrisy of which still pisses me off), but I didn't agree with them when it came to Toby Keith. Toby said what I felt, and what I suspect millions of other Americans felt, and I'm grateful that he did so. With that said, I like his "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This" the most of all of his songs for personal reasons I won't get into, LOL.

Speaking abou bush was fine, the dumb part was when she apologized, but once she realized nobody excepted the apology and was still being blackballed she tried to go back and say screw off and that she didnt regret it. Basically what i mean is, dont pander say what you mean and stick to it
