Great drill...did it for about two hours today...my wife would like a word with you.
There are some pretty good lies 40 fairways to the right sometimes
This is a great drill that can help a lot of people. I hit the ball so much better when doing this.
Cant beat a Friday Fix from Mr SG.
Exactly what I have been working on with my instructor. Back to the basics/fundamentals over the winter to get prepped for Spring. This is a great tip to ingrain what I’m working on. 👍
Thanks Matt. Love that transition piece. It really makes sense and puts the whole swing together
10 minutes later... Mrs. Short Game "why is the baseboard all scratched up??"
Nobody better on KZread than Mr SG
With all the study of the swing this late summer and fall plus all the videos I’ve watched I wasn’t expecting to be so easily enlightened. As you began the video I seriously kept my head down and my eyes on the club head direction. Though I am tired I will not rest until I write down this critical point. I hope this early spring to be confident about being consistent. That what I want and what happens coincides more frequently.(daring to write at length means needing a dictionary) thanks Matt
Matt again massive thank you with all your drills. When I came across you my short game was not very good as I’m self tort watching and learning is how I have improved. You have made it so easy to understand I just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work. When I started watching your videos I played off 7 I’m now off 0.8 and everybody who I 0lay with says how much I have improved my short game which we both know is the most important part of the game. So I have told everybody about you so you now have some more follows. Thanks again👍🇬🇧🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇💪🏌🏿♂️⛳️
Best tips. Best explanation. Thanks a lot.
Love the transition thought, thanks
Great tip and prefect timing! On my way to the golf simulator in a couple of hours to hit my new irons!
Like the tip Mr SG, Sun's out in Scotland this weekend no more snow and the courses are open again, buzzing! 😁
Great drill! Thanks for sharing
GREAT vid and perfect timing, bless you!! In past had horrible habit of flopping open face w inside take away, just felt good. Now Im over compensating and have too closed (closed and low too long) and trying to keep it closed my right elbow is like bent 90* at parralell, makes me sick when I see a video of my swing but Im compressing it and repeating it enough to maintain my 6 index. This is a huge help, not if I can just do it!!
Great teaching
I've watched hundreds of golf instruction videos. This one has really helped me. Thanks Sensei SG!
Thanks for the drill!!
Thanks for the drill! It makes great sense and is easy to do! Have a good weekend brother and always remember, Fairways and Greens!
Top tip Matt I've been working on pos 1 and pos 2 in my back swing and hands are much higher creating straighter and more consistency
Simple, but so good. Thanks
I've been working on this and using the Justin Thomas waggle.
GREAT DRILL
Great Friday night tip, looking forward to trying it. Cheers.
You do work hard for us Mr SG. Thanks for your help. P
Good Tip!
Just subscribed. I really enjoyed this video. Really helpful and logical. Thanks very much!
Great job Matt. The flaring of the knee allows the club to drop in the slot, I get it. Thanks buddy
Swing is looking good!
Great lesson on the takeaway and for me getting that downswing trigger happening. I agree I have played some great lies the next fairway over, haven’t quite made it to 40 over --yet.
great content as always. crush it! 💪
Simple, concise, easy to digest golf instructions! Thanks man, this is awesome sauce for my fairway sandwich!!
I recognize that left knee/hip opening move. Sam Snead has the greatest videos showing such a move.
Had a break in weather. Went to range. Wasn’t doing bad. Wasn’t doing good. Watched this video awhile back. And boom the video came into my slow processing brain. Started hitting some very good shots. Does seem to promote inside much better. We’re going to improve this year !!
Very helpful for both my wife and I
TGIF, nice drill thanks Mr. SG
I like that mat you’re hitting off of how it has some softness to hit down on the ball, probably helps with taking a divot shot.
My high school golf coach used to teach me this drill and I still use it 20 years later
Absolutely enjoy watching the instructional videos, they really help me with my game. But I have noticed recently in some of the videos that you are wearing the Nike Air Max 270 G shoes rather than the Athalonz golf shoes. Are you switching golf shoes or still prefer Athalonz to wear on the golf course?
I need a SG cap!!
Whats about Matt Kuchar? So low and flat backswing and amazing accurate. Love this one planer - more easier to learn for a Hobby Golfer 🙂
I’d love to see a video on how to prevent pulling your body up during down swing and coming over the top. I have a bad problem with this and although it’s brought me to an 10 HCP, I know it needs to get better
We have snow in Oklahoma. I'm still patching holes in our ceilings. I can't dent the baseboards yet. I may use a baseboard behind a couch.
Friday 5 minutes fix 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Good drill if you're a two plane swinger. I personally use the Mike Austin swing which is a one plane swing and basically does everything you say not to do.
Nice dril ...what are you using for your slo mo Matt...very clear?
Matt, where does power come from? Arms? Hips? Legs? Shoulders? All? Would you do a video about that? Great stuff here, as usual.
I'd like to see you try out some sqsirz Golf shoes see if they really work
If by magic, this video drops the same day my alignment sticks arrive to improve visualization on the take back. Love the transition idea.
I noticed that not only does the baseboard drill help me stay on plane for better contact and accuracy, it helps me with my shoulder turn and maintaining a wider arc. I've had to revise my club choices because I am hitting my irons at least a full club further.
Hey Mr. Shortgame
Ready to take this out to the practice range right after they finish plowing the snow off the range. LOL
I've recently had an issue combining the weight transfer to my front (left) leg, while also trying to rotate my hips as opposed to sliding them to the left. Could you maybe address this?
Do you feel like your hands drop in the transition with the left knee flare before rotating through on the downswing? I have a problem of rotating to early at times causing a slight out to in swing path
Think someone had a few beers 😄 that’s the only way I now how to play!
I normally use the ball behind the club head on my backswing.. When I do the backswing drill I push the golf ball away back and the ball should go straight on line back that I know my club head was square for a moment on the takeaway.
What shaft do you have in that 7 iron?
This is a two plane swing that leads to disconnection at the top and you have to shallow the club in the transition stage. If you let your body move your arms up and down and don't fight the forearm rotation the club will stay on plane throughout the swing. You won't push it right if you complete the turn on the down swing. Too often people are ball bound and have their weight stuck on the back foot.
Does this drill work for driver?
for driver too?
How far away do you have your pad from the screen?
hey mister Matt can you send me an S G cap to belgium you r the best
Thanks Friday Fix, Now that I have scratched the baseboard up, Wife is making me Paint 🎨 the Whole Room. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 please no lessons in the kitchen I Don't feel like working on that project 🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🏌🏿🏌🏿🏌🏿 Have A Good Weekend. Oh, where's Saving Par. ⛳⛳
Just put a 3 or 4 foot 2x4 against the baseboard to prevent scratching
You can use an old club box against the base board to stop Mrs Short Game wrath.
What’s a base board? Do you mean skirting board? 😂 good drill thanks from the UK.
wait... did Matt get a new pair of golf shoes? what happened to the Athalonz?

lol they're still around.
Babe I think we got rats.. Kids..no mom dads just doing drills again.
Bring the club straight back on a linear path along the baseboard doesn't sound like good advice.

Try it first. Let us know
::Tries to explain to wife that the scratches and dents on the baseboard are because I was practicing my golf swing:: =)
Matt: What Nike shoes are you wearing in this video?
Biggest problem is my chicken wing
U always see low level teaching pros and club teaching pros focusing on these little movements. Then u get to the tour level of coaches and u absolutely never hear anything about these little movements. All focus goes to what’s happening 6 inches before and after impact. They could careless about how ya get there.
