ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZread and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Pete Cowen´s wisdom was not accessible for a long time as he used to be very shy as far as media presence was concerned. These videos by Danny where he is "translating" Pete Cowen and adding his own words, feelings and exercises are priceless. Simply the best on KZread. Thanks a million, Danny!

Great follow up on what must have been one of the best golf videos I have ever seen (lesson) with Pete Cowen. This was a transitional lesson, a complete paradigm shift in how to swing the golf club. For most of us that are arm and hand swingers, this was truly a game changer. Having said this, it is most difficult to keep the arms and hands out of one's swing. The notion that you are delivering the club face to the ball by rotating the body without arms doing it, helps one understand that the arms are only along for the ride, and that the catapult feeling come from keeping the lower body moving (the inner part of the swing). You did a great job (as did Pete) in helping us understand what is going on, it is now up to us to train ourselves these new feelings which will take a lot of time! One last point that I thing deserves more emphasis, is the pivot. Pete, in other lessons, talks about the "spiral staircase" and learning and performing that move in the back swing is critical to uncoiling and getting distance with this new swing. Much thanks for doing this!

Danny, I recently took part 1 of moving the hands forward during setup and it improved my contact by 75% - 80%. I am so excited that I want to golf every day again. I will continue to focus on that aspect of my setup and swing. I will then move into the lesson that you showed us here. I did watch the full length video of you and Pete and I have massive respect for you both. You have helped me have a love for the game again...

During my first hour of lesson I’ve got the very same tips and exercises. Thanks to this lesson my swing dramatically improved. I’m 67 years old and as you said, beside the improvement in compressing the ball, the body moves more compact, effortless and less stressfully. I’ve gained more yardage and distance is more constant. If I'm understanding this instruction, your tucked right arm simultaneously moves with the hip as it rotates making the arm and hip into a single structural unit. I've watched a lot of channels offering information and instructions on how to swing a golf club for efficiency, and many are very good, but your approach has a distinctive quality. It's down-to-earth. You don't over-complicate things which I appreciate. I've been confused for too long. Your teachings are having a positive effect on my progress. Thank you!

Thank you Danny for expanding on the lesson from Pete Cowenn! I have a left shoulder injury that gets worse the more I play. What I have discovered through your recent teaching is that I am using the left arm and shoulder to give me power by pulling the club through the ball. With this new approach, I am using my right arm (closer to the body) and the rotation of my hips to get power through the swing. It is amazing how much more power I can generate this way as apposed to my old way of pulling through with the left. I also don't need as long of a backswing to generate power. This takes stress off my left shoulder. I am looking forward to taking this to the golf course. My expectations are low, because I know this will take time but I am encouraged to know that my bad shoulder will not keep me from playing the game I love!!!!

It’s interesting that I’ve seen tons of comments on videos that include Pete’s philosophies that have trouble understanding what Pete is saying. I think part of reason is that Pete is teacher of very high level professional golfers. They have the history and understanding of the language around the swing that allow a sort shorthand. His lessons and approach are amazing, and I’ve learned a ton, but I also have played for 40 years at a high level, so it mostly makes sense. I like that you (and Andy Carter) are simplifying and translating for the average golfers.

This is the holy grail of golf swing methodology and Danny Maude is the most articulate in communicating this technique. I first met Pete Cowen 20 years ago and I have experience in the golf industry via IMG Media. This truly produces a relatively effortless golf swing which will especially appeal to seniors (45+). For younger golfers, this method will ensure consistency and the elegant golf swing and ball flight that you crave to emulate professional golfers. One thing that helps me to achieve this is the swing thought of keeping the trailing arm close to the body to prevent extension before impact.👍

One mini step at a time following this recipe. Word to the wise. Turn your iPad around, and film yourself. Many of you will realize that Danny is talking directly to you. Least now I know he’s been talking to me all the while. Cheers…

Luckily that Pete is coming to an age that he publicly want to share his knowledge and that you are beautifully simplifying it for us. Most mind blowing thing when watching your session with Pete is that after every mishit he knows without any doubt what went wrong regardless how small a mistake was. I have feeling that he could spot it just by listening. Very intimidating regardless how good you are. Thank you, Danny!

I've played golf for 36 years and never broken 100. I watched your simplified video and went to the range today. First six balls weren't good but I then started to get the right swing. My usual distances for my irons improved by around 30 yds and it felt easier to hit the ball. Can't wait to see if this new technique will help me to finally beat the 100 barrier. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Danny (and Pete), I'm a 6.1 handicapper. I've looked at thousands of golf videos and drills, to me this is by far the best explanation on the right arm and right side. You have improved on every drill I have ever seen working on the right arm. It makes complete sense and how you (I can hear Pete say the word 'pressure') talk about the pressure on the shaft to go with the right arm. I took it to the range the last few days and I am really seeing a difference on impact, ball flight and bullets into the wind. I hit a few high shots like you said. So I will do more work on turning my right side through maintaining the pressure. Like the gent asked below - have you done this drill for the driver. When I try this with driver I feel like I am hitting down on the driver.

However, I am now hitting short and high, driver and 3-woods off the tee, so I believe I am applying the same iron technique as shown in this lesson to the 3-wood & driver, rather than sweeping or hitting up. If you could ever do a video related to todays lesson, but with Tee-shots, that would be very useful. Many thanks for excellent advice.

Took it to the course for the first time today and I'm amazed at the results I've slowed my swing to get the timing and instead of clubbing up to allow for a softer swing, I had to club down to slow for the contact, flight and distance improvements. Thx for compacting the video with Pete you showed a fortnight ago. All in a nutshell. The feeling you showed with alignment stick is just like using a French broom which I have handy for practice. Also I liked your analogy some months ago of slapping the water to splash someone in a pool, keeping the angle between hand and wrist constant. Same sensation of compression rather than flicky motion when clubhead overtakes the hands too soon as you demonstrate here. The old ‘magic move’ coined by Harvey Penick of ‘left heel down and elbow in’ at top of backswing also helps. Please can you teach us some drills about rhythm as I so often want to hit the hell out of the ball like I did with a hockey ball and everything gets out of sync? I hear even the lambs applaud you! Thanks again, Danny.

Danny - I'm very happy you did this follow-up video. Watching Mr. Cowan, I did not understand rotating the forearm, thanks for clearing that up. My take away from that lesson was the feeling of that tight, compact right arm in the back swing with the reversed grip. It feels easy to repeat and that drill helped me hitting terrific, crisp irons during my round yesterday. I'll continue with this drill, then perhaps add some of the forearm rotation you described once I have the backswing portion engrained. GREAT and simple details Danny! Thank you!

I am finding that the driver is only slightly different. It is really about where your power comes from, the arms; or from rotation of the body and hips. By applying this techique to the driver and simply moving the ball forward, I am able to get additional yardage. I keep the right arm in tight and use a more stable position of the wrist through the swing, make a good rotation with the hips, and catch the ball on the upswing. It is working for me.

I don't know if Danny was trying to hit full shots in the couple of clips with Pete. But you could see a difference in his swing, much more of a "rotation" swing than a "catapult". I think the modern swing is more the former and what I was taught (when I was young 30 ish years ago) the latter. I suspect this difference has come from the insight provided by video and the sort of analysis shown on Athletic Motions channel. I'd love to see their analysis of Seve, Faldo, Els, Trevino, Palmer etc.

Thanks Danny for a great explanation of Pete Cowen's priceless tips in your other video(s) with him. As a PGA pro for almost 50 years I love to watch other coaches whom I regard highly, as one must never cease learning. You're absolutely correct in advising that the elbow position must be mastered before approaching the impact position, as the latter will be impossible without the former. In describing the necessary body action being required to maintain control of the club I often use the analogy of a vehicle towing a trailer etc. with the body being the vehicle suppling the power and "towing" the golf club. If the vehicle slows suddenly it will be a disastrous "jackknife" as the trailer overtakes it, just as a disastrous "flick", "fat" or other miscue will result should the hands and arms overtake the body rotation. Congratulations on your excellent channel and G'day from Australia!

Hi Danny. I watched your vid with Pete Cowan last week. I got in 2 short practice sessions during the week and then went in all guns blazing yesterday. Front 9 was messy. Got into a groove at the start of the back 9 that started with a pretty much vertical right elbow and rotated that forearm down to shoot 41 coming home off my 18 handicap. In a gale. It was so easy. That vid was so, so good. The first I've watched that basically says "This is how to swing a golf club". Thanks so much to you, and to Pete.

Bewdiful. Thanks DM on behalf of all the weekend warriors all over the world like me ( who have trouble with irons) for the simplification of the previous professional and highly technical tips with "Pete". U r a gr8 golf instructor. Cheers mate. Joseph

I have seen this video numerous times and it has really helped my iron play, but the driver is still a work in progress but getting better!
