Absolutely. Deep tracks, played acoustic with no gimmicks. Shows what great songs they had. I'm not a hits guy, I like album tracks, so Unplugged was right up my alley. They did Goin Blind, I Still Love You, Domino BETTER than the studio mix

This song was mostly Paul Stanley in the studio. He recorded the bass line and all of the guitars. This is when Gene started getting distracted, trying to be a movie star, and Paul had to carry the band through most of the eighties. The unplugged version of this is amazing. This is one of my favorite missions. This whole album is great. This is their so called disco album. It has disco elements, it is still rock n' roll at heart.

KISS are more varied than they are given credit for. They go from soft ballads to power ballads, poppy soft rock to aor to really hard, prog to grunge, heavy rock to straight ahead rock n roll. And it still sounds like KISS. Not many bands can claim that range of styles.

Paul Stanley’s parents were close friends with my parent’s close friends. I remember, maybe ten years ago, the Stanley’s actually sent a limousine to their home in Cabrini NY and picked them up, took them to front row seats for a KISS concert. They totally loved when the crowd would put their arms up on the sway, they did say it was a little loud for them…lol. I think the concert was likely in the late eighties/early nineties. But they loved the music! I remember the Stanleys.

Act II, KISS with the Melboiurne Symphony Ensemble (not quite the full orchestra..."Sure Know Something" was played this way, with Gene doing duty on an acoustic bass). ACT III, KISS with the full orchestra...in all of its glory. You can find many of the songs on KZread. Here's the live version: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l3p30M1qoMatmM4.html

This was 1979 from the Kiss disco record 'Dynasty'... which yielded the hit - "I was made for lovin' you"... Despite Peter Criss (drums) being featured on the album cover, videos and tour, Criss did not play the drums on the album (except for 1 song "Dirty livin' ") ... Session drummer Anton Fig did the drums u hear, and he also played on the next Kiss disco album 'Unmasked' in 1980. From what I can tell, Peter Criss had been involved in a serious car accident in the late 70's and suffered injuries...and his drug problems were getting worse... He got divorced and remarried by 1979... When Kiss started work on the 'Dynasty' album, it was evident that Criss was in no shape to play drums... But a huge tour was planned for that year, so Kiss was up and running... However, the shows were not selling out because Kiss' audiences were now little kids accompanied by parents - not the teenage and young crowds they used to bring in... Kiss also looked very glam and fashionable, compared to the black leather and metal studs they wore previously... And on the tour, Peter Criss was not playing well... his singing was getting worse from being intoxicated... and one night, he could not maintain the proper song tempos... At the end of '79, the decision was made that Peter Criss had to be replaced. Kiss recorded another disco album 'Unmasked' (hoping for another pop hit) and Peter Criss was on the cover and did the music video for 'Shandi"... but he was not in Kiss anymore... The news broke that he had left the band, and Kiss announced that Eric Carr (drums) was joining w/ a new 'character' (the Fox) in Kiss and he did the tour in 1980 and that was the end of the original Kiss.
