The second one at that time was Jaime. Probably they were pretty much equal then. This kingsguard was just bunch of loyal puppets with armors and swords but without any principles or honor. And Bronn was Bronn. He was always honest about himself, about who he was and this is why we like him. And as a mercenary he calculates his chances in every fight and he knew that sir Meryn was no match for him. He'd never act like that towards sir Barristan or the Mountain. @Lovett Uduebor - I didn't think the writing of Season 7 & 8 was bad... they were still telling a great story, they just rushed it for the sake of production costs. What many people don't realize is the reason Season 7 was 7 episodes and Season 8 was 6 episodes is because HBO allowed a certain amount of money to be spent to produce those seasons and the decision was made to pump most of that money into battle scenes and CGI dragons instead of giving us a fuller story of 10 episodes each season. Clearly, they made the wrong decision... I think they could have gotten to their story's conclusion in a better way if they were given more time.

That's exactly what I think. Bronn understands that in a setting like this, fighting (quote-unquote) "fair" will get you killed. He understands that winning a fight is all about a mixture of honest skill and fighting dirty. In his view, the best time to kill a man is before he's even drawn his blade. And Meryn? He's a jackass. In Bronn's own words: "A grub in fancy armor that's better at beating up little girls than fighting men."

***** On the contrary, Maryn Trant has no skill. Most of the Kingsguard are made up of political appointments so they're not there based on skill, but because of where they're from! I mean look at Ser Barristan, the guy is old yet he could still beat them all with his eyes closed, unarmored! Cause Barristan came from a time when you only appointed the best of the best!

Anyone with some degree of training and armor can beat any thief or rapist. It's not thieves or rapists that threaten a king, it's assassins and other knights of the battlefield. So when compared with other knights, Maryn Trant is nowhere close to one of the best. Compare with the Mad King's reign when his Kingsguard was made up of the best and you get my point. The Hound said it best, and the Hound was right. It's unknown whether Syrio is actually dead, but if he did win it's because, "he had armor, and a big fucking sword".

Considering the early seasons are often cited as the best in the series I find your claim of women turning GoT from a show with "low magic fantasy with political intrigue" into "the CW" laughable at best. Also, I can't find anywhere talking about how GoT fired half their writing staff and replaced them with women so unless you can back that up with some credible sources I'm going to assume you're just talking out of your behind.

@@ratede91 Do you honestly believe the whole "Sand Snakes plot in Dorn" was good writing? Because it wasn't. Season 5 is the moment where Arya stopped being a character, and just became "girl power baby", seriously, she outran the waif WHILE STABBED IN THE STOMACH. This from the show that was known for it's realism. Season 5 is the point were Tyrions character starts degenerationg into a moron, and his once amazing dialoques with Varys get reduced to "you have no cock, you're a dwarf" jokes. In the books Jamie wasn't anywhere near Dorn, he was about to get captured by Catelyn Stark and the brotherhood without banners, and Brienne was torn between her oath to Catelyn and her love for Jamie. Oberyns brother also wasn't a pushover. Instead, he was playing the long game to get revenge for the deaht of his sister and her children. But he did it so subtly that his own daughters where convinced he was weak. Which they find out insn't true when they try to overthrow him and fail hilariously. And is the start of a new subplot with Dorne and Aegon Targaryan/Aegon Blackfyre (depending on who in the fandom you ask) coinciding with Aegon invading Westeros. I get it, season 5 and 6 have great moments, but the amazing writing of the first 4 season is already gone. The political intrique dissapears and we get the classic "bad guys and good guys" into what was originally so morally complex you didnt know who you were rooting for. Tyrion, for example, didnt suddenly become obsessed with good rule, he's traveling to Daenarys because he got captured by slavers and he's plotting his revenge on the rest of his family (including Jamie, who he now hates) But sure, bury all my legitimate points under "you're just a book elititst", don't bother actuallly looking objectively at the dialoque differences betwees seasons 1-4 and afterwards.

Sandor Clegane unfastened his cloak and tossed it at her. Sansa clutched it against her chest, fists bunched hard in the white wool. The coarse weave was scratchy against her skin, but no velvet had ever felt so fine…" And I am not threatening the king, ser. I am educating my nephew. Bronn, Timmett, next time Ser Boros opens his mouth, kill him…Now that was a threat, ser. See the difference?” “The queen will hear of this!” “No doubt she will. And why wait? And the final shot from floor level with everyone else looking up at him, the only one standing up to Joffrey's insanity and cruelty, is *chef's kiss* perfection. Tyrion rising up like this shook Joffrey's confidence, you can see how nervous he gets in this scene and others. He puts on some bravado at times, but Tyrion actually intimidates him by being one of the few who'll defy him.
