Except he has now become a right wing version of his former self. Just by saying things like "it's so easy to make fun of lefties" he's doing exactly what his former self would likely have done regarding "righties". For example the Minneapolis police force today released a report done under the auspices of Merrick Garland I believe (a Trump appointee) that says that systemic racism in that police force was rife and may have contributed to George Floyd's death. Will Dave be doing a video on that and reassessing whether any of his former view was correct?

any leftist that drops all of their beliefs for conservatism was a shit leftist. I listened to conservative talk radio for almost two decades as a liberal. Al Rantel, Larry Elder, Red Eye Radio with Doug Macyntyre (mostly anti illegal immigrant but socially liberal), Michael Medved, Dennis Prager, etc etc Was I changed? Sure, some. There are numerous beliefs I do not share with many other people on the left. I do not believe racism and sexism accounts for all of the outcome gaps we see in the world, I always thought (along with 80+ % of democrats) that defund the police was effing retarded, that nuclear energy is good, That there was more work to be done with respect to radicalism within the muslim population, but NONE Of that made me a f*cking conservative. There is a core inside of me that looks upon the same realities and DECIDES to favor different solutions than conservatives because I have more concern for people outside my TINY shriveled up circle of concern like they do. That difference in our natures, how we are built as men at our core, determines so much. Most of these tired little nothing conservatives have no fucking clue how empty their solutions to so many problems are. I know them, because I've actively listened to them for so long, I know what drives them and their failings. So someone who has that kind of core who just flips conservative was NEVER a good liberal or lefty. They were trash, that had no more grounding than a loose dandelion floating in the wind, completely unmoored for ANY kind of solid foundation for their ideas.

I remember in the late eighties when Candace Bergen played the character Murphy Brown on television and the producers decided to make her a single mother. It was front page news. It was trumpeted and lauded as revolutionary. How brave and how exciting! A career woman with a baby and no father in sight. They really made a huge big deal about how great and freeing this was for women. I was born in 1970 to a single mother. It was not freeing and exciting. It was desperate and it was often sad. It was nobody home when I came home after school. It was mom working and going to school and studying to become a nurse. No time to help with homework. It was doing housework to "help out" and being dropped at the laundry with clothes on Saturday mornings while your friends slept in. It was looking out at a school performance and your mom was not there because she had to work. She used up all her vacation days when you had strep throat and couldn't make it. They really want to sell people on these very bad ideas. They really want us dependent on the government while they line their pockets. We really need to stop this. It's cancerous. Sometimes I feel like we can never win when I see these young college kids being mainlined bad information and they're believing it because they have no life behind them to compare it to.

I was born in 1961, and my experience was virtually the same as yours. One small variation is that I had to drop out of my first school musical because I was required by the court to visit my father on opening weekend. While there was no one to help with my homework, I was homework help for my little sisters. Oh, and I prepared dinner before mom came home from work. Cheers, dude - we made it through with some fair portion of reason & lots of practical experience!

Very similar, born in 1969, parents divorces before my second birthday. We lived on very little money, thank God my mother was prudent with finances. It was hard for me to grow up without my father’s loving and disciplining presence in the home. Thank God for my current church family as I go through my own divorce. My kids are thankfully graduated high school and coping with life much better than I was at their age.

I had both parents home and even though it wasn't great because my parents didn't have much tools, it was good at the same time because we always had a roof over our heads and even though I didn't have a good relationship with my mom, I did have it with my dad. When you talk about your mom and her going to school and worked at the same time, I saw this first hand with one of our neighbors in which one became my Aunt. Their mom was divorced and she became a nurse and her oldest daughter and at a young age had to watch over her sisters. The oldest was from a first marriage. This resulted with the oldest getting pregnant at 15 and stayed with her boyfriend long enough to have another child. When this happens to a family unit, there is a lot of shaming that goes on. I saw this starting with the grandmother, to the daughter to the girls and then went into some of the kids that the girls had. It is a vicious circle. There are some positive outcomes with the family. Some started to take responsibility and they seem to be thriving pretty well. God bless you for sharing your story. I hope your life is going well.❣️

Well said. I remember that happening on Murphy Brown when I was just a kid. My mom watched the show and I remember she was upset at the writers decision. I completely relate about losing hope for our future. One bright spot I just heard about today: in Massachusetts kids at a Jr high there were being lectured because they refused to show up wearing the required rainbow shirts to celebrate "pride". They wore red white and blue instead, and said their pronouns were "U, S and A. That made me smile and gave me a little hope. When an ideology becomes mainstream, to where a school is mandating it, maybe it's natural the teens will start to push back?

i don't know why dave thinks THE interview makes him look bad. I think it shows his real character and is probably the best video he has ever made. most people wouldn't react the way he did. most people believe what they believe and don't alter their perspectives even when presented with facts. most interviewers would be defensive and angry. but the fact that dave wasn't angry and was just trying to figure out why and how solve the problem of racism in america shows he has a good heart and is a good person.

This happens all the time when someone that normally supports the left even has an interview with a conservative. Let alone one where he accepts points that they make. Probably got tons of hate over it. Its a shame, part of why people are so afraid to speak honestly these days.

It's hard to describe what it was like to see, but if nothing else it was surreal to watch someone's red-pilling in real-time. It was so crazy because it was like you could actually see Dave's gears turning, and you could almost watch his preconceived notions shatter. Then, what was arguably even better was watching his subsequent transition from left to right over the months following. It was a thing of beauty.

Preach man. Before the past 3 years, I had only rarely experienced some petty theft in portland. Crime wasn’t that big of a consideration. This year, our cars are checked every night to see if they’re open (if they are they’re trashed and raided), one was shot, another someone tried to break the window and scratched all over it, 2 motorbikes were stolen, someone’s house was broken into a few houses down, a house across the street was burned and gang tags were put on the fence in front over and over plus there were homeless people squatting in the ruins. A friend of ours was also shot. Portland is a dumpster fire and the riots were a distinct turning point. My boyfriend and I play a game counting cop cars… For a hot minute it would literally be 3-4 days between us seeing a cop car in our neighborhood. We drove downtown one day and all of a sudden there were like 6 cop cars patrolling this nice neighborhood on the fringes. We were told first hand by my bf’s father (who was a career long cop in portland), they were told to be passive and basically don’t get out of the car unless you’re called. I’m so angry at all these “justice warriors”. Look around at the city I grew up in and tell me rationally you’ve had any positive effect- you couldn’t. Black and white owned business ruined equally, people who are mistrustful and rightly so, an insane homeless problem, a dirty city, and a police force who’s going to wait for you to get robbed, raped, or beaten to police unless the optics are right.
