Pepsi is the second most popular soft drink in the world - just below Coca-Cola. It has been that way for much of its lifetime with one exception: the Soviet Union. For nearly two decades, Pepsi was the one and only soft drink of the USSR. How it became the preferred soda of the Soviets involved Richard Nixon, vodka, and eventually ended up with Pepsi coming into possession of the 6th largest submarine fleet in the world. But Pepsi's stint as a global naval power - as well as its domination of the USSR soda market - turned out to be short-lived because the fall of Communism would take Pepsi with it. Enjoy!
