It was definitely a struggle to not go with a Dragon Sorcerer for that exact reason... but I needed the healing

I'm surprised that druid's wildshape or polymorph wasn't mention in the video since he was able to take the forms and traits of monsters he eaten really early in the story. With the trait part being done with magic works but I understand ignoring wildshape/polymorph since Rimuru mainly used it as an intimidation tool.

I am once again, suggesting content involving "Mutants and Masterminds" With your creativity you could make builds that go insane.

My take on Emiya Is Hexblade 3/ Swords Bard 6+ , make his thrown/shooting blades as Eldritch Blast , improved pact of the blade for his weapon usage and being Charisma based because of his Unholy Rizz

This is a fire build bro 10/10

I know how long it's been since this was posted, but a funny little thing for mid level campaigns, would be abberant mind sorcerer, specifically it's 6th level feature Psionic Sorcery, allowing you to cast any of the spells from your Psionic Spells list, which you can swap out with other divination/enchantment wizard,sorcerer or warlock spells every level up, for sorcery points equal to it's level.

Glad I found (and decided to watch) this. I have a dragon character that's meant to be like a divine mage of sorts, with a wide selection of spells and nearly limitless uses, while still being decent in close combat or stealth situations. This vid gives me some better ideas for accurately putting him in D&D, though it won't quite be a carbon copy of this Rimuru build.

I would have homebrewed an attack called "Predator", based on his skill, it lets you eat any monster with less than 10 hp if you get close enough

Great Sage, especially after her evolution to Raphael, is actually a self-aware quantum supercomputer. The closest equivalents to Pact Magic in Tensura are Spiritual Magic and Holy magic. For spiritual magic a summoner makes a contract with an elemental spirit and can then use the spirit's power as their own. Spiritual Magic unlike Aspectual Magic (elemental magic) actually obeys scientific laws rather than warping them. Holy Magic works based on faith in a higher power (note: the higher power does not need to be divine in nature despite the name of the magic), allowing you to draw upon your patron's power to cast Holy Magic rather than your own internal reserves. Rimuru wasn't able to use Holy Magic (or in D&D terms, Divine Magic) until later post-where the anime currently is. His ability to regenerate is an intrinsic skill (biological ability) for Slimes while his ability to create healing potions is the result of a creative combination of Predator/Gluttony/Beelzebuth and Great Sage/Raphael's sub-skills. So he can't actually use Healing magic yet in the anime. Inspiring Leader is actually D&Ds version of Benimaru's Unique Skill Generalissimo (also called Born Leader). Rimuru can use the skill through the use of his skill Food Chain so it's okay for Rimuru to have. Rimuru actually isn't that charismatic, he has a lot of trouble because he's not naturally charismatic (shown whenever he's trying to make deals and treaties with humans and demi-humans like dwarves). Monsters follow Rimuru because of a combination of Rimuru's willingness to name all of his subordinates at risk to himself and because of the law of Survival of the Fittest which all monsters and some other factions obey in Tensura. The Law of Survival of the Fittest is why for example the Kijin and Lizardmen were willing to forgive the Orcs for their sins. "Rimuru actually isn't that charismatic, he has a lot of trouble because he's not naturally charismatic (shown whenever he's trying to make deals and treaties with humans and demi-humans like dwarves)" i'm not so sure about that statement.. the reason he had trouble in his dealings with humans and demi-humans is not because hes not naturally charismatic, its because hes a monster. once people got past looking at him as some kind of monster they opened up and became comfortable around him. the only real trouble he had was public speaking.. but he was easily able to befriend the dwarven king and many others. The Law of Survival of the Fittest may be why lower strengthen monsters flocked to him, but he easily made friends with powerful monsters like the demon lords milim, ramiris, and carrion.

@@darcraven01 His friendships with the other Demon Lords started out because of him being a novelty and gradually developed into genuine friendship. His relationship with Gazel was rocky at first but they then developed a senpai and kouhai relationship based on their statuses as kings and fellow students of Hakurou. The reason why everyone else formed their friendships and/or business relationships with him is because he explicitly doesn't think like a monster but rather a 21st century Japanese businessman/weeb.

@@jackwitt7430 his relationship with gazel was rocky to start with, yes, but not because rimuru isnt charismatic. it was rocky because the first time they met was at a court trial some sniveling little twat pushed upon them.. and it wasnt even rimuru's fault. he was just there by association. but even after that, once the dwarf king actually started to get to know rimuru they became good friends.. that kinda supports my point..

In my original comment I said Rimuru had a lack of charisma because charisma requires confidence and the only times Rimuru has real confidence (and not just acting confident) is either when he's in his element as a genius businessman, when he's so angry that he forgets to be nervous and when he has such an overwhelming advantage that even he can't undercut himself.

This is so helpful! Is there also a lv1 version of the character sheet? I'm not to familiar with warlocks and sorcerers, so having a lv1 version instead of skimming the lv20 document and cutting out the non needed stuff would be real helpful.

Warlock (Great Old One Patron) + Divine Soul Sorcerer is a great Multiclass build for Rimuru. I don’t agree with going good though. That is the more Angelic path. Rimuru was a Demon Lord for crying out loud. He would be more like an evil path. Even if he wasn’t innately evil.

He's a bit of both tho considering half of his ultimate skills are named after angels, I.e uriel, Raphael. Also that in tensura demon Lords and demons are entirely separate entities for the most part. Some demon Lords are actual demons but most aren't. Also one of the demon Lords is literally a god.

I think Rimuru should be a Draconic Warlock (Since Veldora is the one who give him power/name. Maybe a little homebrew) and Aberrant Mind Sorcerer (Great Sage was there since he was a slime)

Great Sage could be a sentient magic item like "Profesor Orb" or "Docent" (but without the race prerequisite).

He'll do natsu one day... one day...

I’d love to hear your thoughts on a Cid Kageno/Shadow build from the eminence in shadow and while I like this build I’m a bit disappointed that you didn’t put anything for his swordsmanship. I understand that Rimuru is mainly a caster but he isn’t lacking in sword skills either making him more of a magic swordsman but that said I understand that the rules cannot really allow you to do everything and this is a great example of Rimuru for dnd.

This is not *entirely* true. Rimuru’s wings aren’t actually a part of his body. They’re a manifestation created through magicules. Tasha’s Otherworldly Guise would fit Rimuru incredibly well in this regard. This would also relieve any necessity to multiclass into martial classes for his weapon prowess. (So long as your DM lets you learn proficiencies through study.)

I rolled a Nat 20 on my history check to recall the location of a beholder, the bard convinced him to go against "the ooze who claims to be stronger than him", once the magic is gone, let martials of the party shine. If it bleeds, we can kill it, if it doesn't we can find a way.

One of this days I think a hero system so you can go hard on this broken characters that are built better for that system

I actually already have a Rimuru build and I went with a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer with one level in Fighter to be able to use a sword.

@@dndbuilds toying with my build, you still get 9th level spell slots as it is only one level in Fighter. You just don't get the consistant regenerating spell slots or healing spells, but Rimuru rarely fights alone anyway (usually he's only one part of a larger group with him focusing on the largest, toughest enemy).

Technically speaking you couldn't use catnap with this because 1st of all its a spell that's magically puts you to sleep, which you can't do, second of all it's concentration and if you fall asleep whilst casting it your concentration would run out, so you can't use it on yourself

The thing is, you still need to take a long rest or you take a point of exhaustion. The invocation says you don't need sleep, but you still need a long rest because you're not immune to exhaustion. Sorcerer warlock can't be the coffeelock not even RAW. Still a good multiclass though

That was actually a rule I think they added later to combat people building coffee locks so it depends on if people use that rule (which frankly I would use the rule if I was dming lol it just makes more sense realistically)

@DnD Builds that's definitely fair, and I run long rests like this. Sorcerer warlocks are fun, my favorite multiclass in the game the Paladin Sorcerer. They're very fun and really let's you feel like you can do such much as a tank, middle of the pack support, or in some builds a really strong blaster from the back

It is an _Optional_ rule from Xanathar's Guide, even then there is no rule on number of short rests you can take in a day other than the time required. As soon as you can cast 5th level spells it becomes moot as _Greater Restoration_ fixes exhaustion.

I am only as far as the manga, so absorb elements and shield for when he absorbs the attacks. Maybe Hunger of Hadar, but a shame because Ravenous Void would be best. The trump card move "I'm gonna eat it".

I have a few problems with this build and ways to fix them. 1st: Ok Aspect of the Moon is useless it specifically states you don't need to sleep. In DnD there is a ruling that just because your character doesn't need to sleep doesn't mean they don't need to take a rest, aka a long rest. Fix: Just be a 9th level Divine Soul Sorcerer, take the Greater Restoration Spell and use it to get rid of your level of Exhaustion after you don't rest for the evening very simple however it does mean it takes a little bit longer to get the Sorlock active. This variant of Sorlock is actually referred to as the Cocainelock. 2nd: Catnap is useless, sure it allows you to get a Short Rest in just 10 minutes. Guess what, it only works once per long rest meaning once you use that spell you can never use it again meaning that guess what you have wasted a spell that you can know as again guess what as a Sorcerer you only get 15 spells. Fix: Don't take the Catnap spell and replace it with counterspell so that we can replicate the magic jammer skill that Rimuru gets later on. Also start off with Divine Soul Sorcerer go 9 levels into it and then take 1 level in Warlock either Great Old One or Hexblade, only choose Hexblade if you're looking for complete and utter optimization but for flavour I would pick Great Old One as inherently a Cocainelock is the epidemy of optimization and when you play one the DM and everyone at the table will either hate you or enjoy the time you guys play together depending on how that group works. A cool build idea for Rimuru I like is 16 Level Divine Soul Sorcerer/2 Great Old One Warlock/2 Fighter STR: 8 DEX: 13 + 1 = 14 CON: 13 + 1 = 14 INT: 9 WIS: 14 CHA: 15 + 1 = 16 Fighter gives us action surge which is an ability that recovers on a short rest and gives us an additional action so that with a first action we could say cast fireball and our second one we can cast blink. Granted we do only get 1 use however with this in mind we could put on breast plate so that our AC would be 16 since breastplate has a base of 14 and allows us to add our DEX mod at a max of +2. We could take a shield as well giving us 18 AC and we haven't even talked about magic items but I'm getting ahead of myself. Since you start off with sorcerer your saving throw proficiencies will be for CON and CHA not Since you start off with sorcerer your saving throw proficiencies will be for CON and CHA not since you start off with sorcerer your saving throw proficiencies will be for CON and CHA and not CHA and WIS you will have better concentration saves. Since you're starting off with 9 levels of Sorcerer you can get your CHA to 20 much faster. You can get your CHA to 20 at 8th level. At 10th level you'll be ready to start off the process for infinite magic, start off simply by taking short rests when your party is taking long rests to just have more spell slots than your party. Once you get some downtime(preferably a week or longer) that's when you simply lock yourself in your room until you are forced to leave by your party and just so that you don't have to do the calculations for a week of downtime just ask your DM if you could have infinite spell slots as you would probably have so many that it would be like having an infinite amount(sadly not quite at most you can get 25 5th level slots and 1 1st level slot and that would leave you without any sorcery points so you might as well just only take 24 by the way this isn't calculating the 7 you have to take away for not sleeping so you have about 17 after taking away(by the way I'm doing this calculations based on when you're level 10)) 5th level slots or try to separate the spell slots so that you have more of each level. I know this build seems slow and that's because it is, you can't really gain infinite spell slots quickly in DnD 5e due to the whole stipulation. However if you get a whole year of downtime that is amazing as then you could make the argument that you could have so many spell slots I might as well put down infinite(you get about 886 5th level spells slots and yes this time it is including the 365 you have to subtract and again this is going off if you're level 10)
