They were one of the reasons Metal evolved into speed and thrash metal. They were thought to be done in late 80's and they came out with Painkiller, one of the most metal albums ever created.

If you want Steph to become a fan - The 1983 live version of 'Victim of Changes'
Check out Blood Red Skies off of their 1988 Ram It Down. He sings low parts, medium parts and really high parts like Pain Killer. It's a totally different song with totally different feeling.

You should take a listen to something really early in their career like "Victim of Changes" as well as something from their brand new album (this year) like "The Serpent and the King". Their catalog has SO much variety that you will need to hear quite a few songs to really get a grasp on their "sound".

Glenn Tipton is the main guitar soloist in Painkiller, a much better guitar player than KK Downing. Painkiller was the title track to their Painkiller album. The entire Painkiller album is amazing!
