That's The Power! Rodtang - The Toughest Muay Thai Fighter of the 21 Century

Спорт

By the age of 25, Rodtang has scored over 250 wins, claimed 3 prestigious belts and set several records in ONE. The Iron Man has held the Asian promotion’s title for almost 4 years, justifying his nickname over and over again. It's time to enjoy the reign of the Thai Tyrant, who rightfully bears the crown as the best Muay Thai fighter at present.

@@Jangz_ No, I don't think that it is about intelligent or bravery at all. The closest that I can come up with is at a point under choke hold he didn't have awareness to tap out, which I think it can be harmful to any combatants. In fact the ref. should stop it before he lost consciousness. I do believe that bravery was already demonstrated that Rod Tang and his team agree to fight in this rules. What should be taught before the match is the combatant should know when to tap out if he/she can't solve any choke he was under and left it for the ref. Same go for any striker to forfeit if he is unable to defense him/herself. Different in tell-sign in grappling arts can be seen clearer, as upset come-back is rarely happen, due to progression of a choke often slower compared to an stray come-back shot.

One thing I love about rodtang, korean zombie, and pacquiao is the respect they still have towards their opponents even though their opponents spits so much crap at them! And unlike many others, once they knock their opponent down they stop attacking immediately instead of continuing to strike at their opponent. That’s what you call real respect right there ❤ it takes a lot for a real fighter to show their soft side and respect towards their opponents

I do like how in this fight 12:50 you notice that Rodtang is in a huge disadvantage because of height since the champion can just keep his range and keep pushing him out and Rodtang is trying to find a way to counter. But after a certain point he adapted and is willing to trade blows instead to move in closer.

if rodtang would trained in submission he would be a unbeatable opponent… the only and biggest weakness in these muay thai fighter is that they can’t defend the submission… if rodtang was rounded in jiu jitsu , grappling, he would be super hard to beat…he’s a beast and respectful

  • @sagoeedmundkojo

I agree. Fighting styles were designed around philosophies. This one is about taking more punishment than your opponent can give and give more punishment than they can take. And finishing it all as quickly as possible. The submission is more patient and endearing, a luxury their warriors didn't have in times past on the battle field, especially when outnumbered. Hence the modern adaptation till this day.

@@sagoeedmundkojo most people with brains would agree with us, but you’ll see some idiots whom doesn’t even know how to fight that’s the best fighter can beat a jui jitsu submission fighter, but in reality even the best can’t defend the submission… look at rodtang, he’s a beast hardest and truly talented fighter, but look what happen when he fought mighty mouse?! ironman was doing great when he was fighting the mma muay thai rules and as soon as they they grappling submission rules mighty mouse submitted him easily… more examples look at those beast fighters like dagestani fighters they’re taking over the ufc because of superior samba, grappling, wrestling, and submission skills..

Things are just different in Thailand. The fighting spirit of youth is GREATLY respected and utilized; your trainers will work the hell out of you and make sure you get as many fights as humanly possible before you burn out. There are no notions that you'll be able to fight at the level indefinitely -- you need to destroy as many people as possible before your body slows down. And the respect and humility of Thai champions is amazing; they are so kind and well-mannered. Absolutely no one from the western world would ever assume they had even ever been in a fight let alone hold belts in the most brutal fighting sport. There is no trash talking between competitors.
