    Super Man 4 is infamously bad, from a basic writing perspective, Super Man gets into politics, instantly convinces everyone to get rid of all of their nukes, & throws them all into the sun, this happens within the first half hour if I remember correctly.

    11:54 Funnily enough, that’s not the case for Superman, but it is for his cousins in the comics. Supergirl was a teenager when she landed because of an error in her ship, while Power Girl (who arrived on Earth in the late 1970s) took 60 years because her ship was finished at the actual last second before Krypton exploded.

    14:09 I love how Kyle knows nothing about Superman, yet even HE knows how wrong Pa Kent saying "don't help people" is. As for the next Superman movie review you should check out, I recommend either Superman IV or the first Superman film he released a couple weeks ago, to show Superman's origin story done RIGHT.

    yeah and even Joe's argument is pretty dumb in a situation like that if someone is supposed to show they dont have all the answers, a better response would be "i dont know" it works so much better, "should i have let them die?" "i dont know Clark"

    Yeah, but that is the conclusion and an origin story depicts the journey to the conclusion. There is a struggle from the father who cares for his son but also understands the significance of who he is. This is also common in parenting in which you build up a child/teen but also recognize they aren't ready for certain things given their lack of real world experience. It is a tough and delicate balance. Most parents would tell their kid to not follow friends into a dangerous situation. Even if they could help as there is an instinct to protect your kid. Yes, Clark is not human but a father is still a father. This similar theme is depicted in Forrest Gump even if not coming from a parent. Jenny cares about Forrest and is only concerned for his safety and tells him to run when in danger when he is sent to Vietnam. The right thing to do is help your fellow soldiers but it is not unrealistic to be told to not be a hero by someone that loves you. Even if that results in the potential death of others as the loved one concern is not others but the person they love. Also, by having the father play the protective role this provides a Clark an internal struggle and something to rebel against. A common theme in child/parent dynamics. Clark follows the advice of the parent and then rebels despite potential dangers to himself (the thing the father feared) on his journey towards becoming who he is meant to be. These are all real and common themes that were attempted to be brought to a superhero movie. There are flaws in the movie but I can appreciate the themes, ideas, and approach.

I’d recommend the video on Man of Steel by Daniel Goldhorn, it’s a really sympathetic and nuanced video about how the movie’s just not very good but still had ideas. _Totally not just plugging my good friend’s video that he worked super hard on to get out of copyright jail what noooooo_

    Yeah this movie is trash. The neck break scene spits in the face of Superman, and you saw that big yell from him? That's literally the only thing that shows his reaction to taking a life. There's no indication he actually has an issue with killing people. In the next movie he tries to kill Batman lots of times and kills not Doomsday. Then in Justice League he and the others kill Steppenwolfe. In the Snyder Cut specifically they establish Superman's default personality is to murder everyone he sees. This movie also has no heart, there's no emotional weight and Superman himself has NO charisma, which is a shame because Henry Cavill is great. It's totally wrong about Superman being "tested", Superman never even attempts to save people at any cost to himself. The real Superman would happily take big hits to save just one person, and he never does that. It's a big spectacle of city destroying testosterone. He only "saves" people when it literally costs him nothing. The rest of the time he's collapsing buildings and ignoring people that need saving. Not to mention the actual plot is more full of holes than a donut factory being attacked by a giant sentient hole punch.

    48:58 Welcome to the world of "How it should've ended". It's a channel that animates different endings to media that are more comedic, more interesting, or just serves as a parody of the tropes the movie embodies. Because they usually do superhero movies and because of a joke setup that we'll long since forgotten about since the channel is so old, it usually ends with Batman and Superman in a coffee shop discussing things.

    - The guy in the opening was Rob Scallon who you saw in the Jem review. The whole joke in the opening is how Superman and Batman were meant to be opposites, one is light and hopeful the other dark and aggresive. But Zack Snyder made Clark way too similar. - The whole "Maybe" line is just awful. Maybe they could had worded it better but there's no way of justifying letting a bunch of children drown. Jonathon never takes back the statement in the movie either - In the first SM movie Jonathon died from a heart attack. Which, yea, is way better cause that was something out of Clark's control. With that there was nothing he could had done. As opposed to here where the death is completely avoidable and Jon just scars his wife and son for no reason. - War of the Worlds was a radio broadcast that people mistook as real events - A character who is refereed as "A Symbol of Hope" is definitely not one who should take a life. Even in Superman 2, the original intended cut Zod wasn't killed. He and his goons were sent back into the Phantom Zone. Here there's a bunch of alternates he could had done to stop Zod - Superman Returns for the next

    The next movie Batman v Superman actually addressed the fan complaints about the city destruction, and Bats has a vendetta against Supes for causing all the destruction. Doug was doing an impersonation of General Zod from the Christopher Reeves movies. No, Kryptions are only powerful in a yellow sun, which their home world doesn't have.

  • @arkauthor
    @arkauthor4 ай бұрын

    I think how Superman is ridicoulsy strong is due to the yellow sun. Since he's an alien the solar radiation mutated his body in the best ways: Fly, super strength, heat vision, super hearing and speed. the planet of krypton had a different color sun so their radiation made them as strong as the equivalant version of a human.

    The end scene there with the cartoon Superman and Batman was from the channel HISHE or How It Should Have Ended, they basically cover different movies and animate how the movie could have ended, and if the movie was a Superhero Movie, either Marvel or DC, the characters meet up with Batman and Superman at the Hero Cafe so they were doing a parody of that basically. I Highly Recommend they're stuff

    I remember watching this Movie in Theaters 3 Times actually and I have a Fun Time in that Summer and my Father loved it so much he watched it on Repeat, sure there’s some Areas that didn’t Age Well like the Dark Tone and some Liberties to the Superman Character I don’t like nowadays but I enjoyed it as a Underrated Gem although BVS, that’s for another Story, anyway sorry about your Cat, Rest in Peace Simba and a little bit of trivia for Superman, the reasons why Kryptonians didn’t have powers was due to the Red Sun which is less Hoter than the Yellow and Blue Star which Kryptonians can absorb the Radiation as they are Solar Powered and Heat Vision is a Side Effect of the Solar Energy that those Beams are 100 Times way hotter than the Sun Itself, Krypton’s Gravity is way heavier and colder that a Human can’t survive in its embiomet, Human and Kryptonians are technically Distant Cousins but Kryptonians have Well Healthy Genes that once they reach Adulthood they Aged Slower and they can look as Physically Attractive, and lastly the Reason why Clark’s Parents couldn’t make a Bigger Spaceship is because Kryptonians thought Joe-El was Crazy when they themselves ruined the Planet so Jor-El only had a Small Amount of Resources to build one small Spaceship, the tragic part of the story is that if they listen to Joe-El all of this could have been avoided but it was Too Little Too Late.

    Wrong. superman is only that strong & so on powers, because of the earth sun. Back on his home world there was a very different sun. A red sun. Under a red sun, superman would be just a normal buff guy. Yet in sunlight from a yellow sun like earth he is what we know as a super Man. That is also how he could win vs Goku, because the sun is constantly healing him as he fights, where as goku although stronger would be loosing energy well also needing to work up to his strongest form transformation.

I don't hate Man of Steel but also don't love it I think it's alright O can see Henery Cavill being an amazing Superman but it's stuck behind a script and film that doesn't really fit Superman. With Nostalgia critic saying it's either loved or hated that I imagine is mainly due to how with Zack Snyder there's 2 sides of reception the people who think he's a cinema genius and were asking for like 4 years for a Snyder Cut of Justice League to happen and treat it like the G.O.A.T of films then there's the side that absolutely despises Snyder films abd think his films are the worst films ever

    Neck break was, an unique choice to make. It went controversial to the comic book image people grew up with. It was a choice to try and get out of the dead zone of telling the story of Superman in the same way over and over and over again. It broke the mold. The mold of Superman never killing or breaking any laws. What he stands for and fights for. It was something to break the image older fans had and creating a nook for new fans. I fit in the older fans category and it shocked me but I also understood its place. I liked it. I should have been simple with my answer but I like to ramble. And make incoherent comments. 👌👍
