The thing I love about this book is that all the characters are so complex. They all did bad things but they're all grieving. Frecklewish and Oakstar were objectively selfish in banishing Mapleshade. We know very well that exile isn't a usual punishment for having half clan kits. Even back then. Appledusk got away with it, Fallowtail and Reedfeather got away with it, Featherstorm got away with it, Oakheart and Bluestar got away with it, Silverstream and Graystripe got away with it, Leafpool and Crowfeather got away with it, Onestar got away with it, etc. You could argue that most of them suffered in their own way, sure, and many were distrusted by their clanmates. However aside from Mapleshade no cat has ever been exiled for it. This should make it very clear that the people who had Mapleshade driven out were acting purely for the sake of vengeance and not with the warrior code in mind. This is shown even farther by how they refused to let the kits stay despite the warrior code saying to help all kits in need. However I get it. They had a right to hate Mapleshade- she lied to them about the father of her kits being their kin for gods sake- and while what they did was wrong, they're only human, and people are often blinded by anger. Ravenwing shouldn't have told the clan about Mapleshade's secret. He put Mapleshade and the kits in harms way and he didn't even give her time to come clean on her own. However he really thought he was doing what's right and what his duty as medicine cat said he ought to. I hate Appledusk with a burning passion. He cheated, he lied, he shunned Mapleshade when he had no right to...as if the kits were her mistake and hers alone. As if he had no part in it. But to an extent I can at least understand his need to appear loyal to his clan and make up for breaking the code. Mapleshade herself I can't even blame for the death's she caused. She was hallucinating vividly and thought it ead the only way to save her kits soul's. I probably would've done the same thing. However she never should have let the clan believe that Birchface was the father of her kits. I understand the situation she was in and don't think it's unforgivable but it was wrong.

Technically, she didnt tell the call who the father was, she just let everyone assume, but i see your point.(when frecklewish asked if they were birchface's, mapleshade never replied, so it was assumed by the clan)

All she ever said was that she would rather not say who it was and Frecklewish just assumed and rumors spread from there. However I still feel it was wrong for her to let them believe Birchface lived on in those kits, yknow? Not her fault completely- again, she wasn't the one who spread the rumors and Frecklewish never should have assumed- and I get why she let the clan believe the kits were Birchface's since it was easier than having them suspicious of her, but sue shouldn't have let them hope a dead cat lived on in those kits when he just didn't, yknow?

@@eclipseisbmyt666 There is a difference between Bluestar and Mapleshade, though. Mapleshade let them believe a dead cat, who was beloved by the Clan, was the father. Sure, she never told them this was the case, but she never denied it either. However, Thrushpelt loved Bluestar. He was willing to play the role of a father, even knowing they were not his own kits. (You really let a good one go, Bluestar.)

0:50 the way there voice cracks with the scene just makes it even more sad, I literally almost cried....

it goes without saying that reedshine and perchpaw likely suffered severe trauma from witnessing appledusk's death. reedshine was dependent on appledusk to look after her kits and perchpaw was forced to kill mapleshade. instead, reedshine had to raise her three children alone and perchpaw was left with the knowledge that he had killed someone. their stories hit home for me the most out of anyone in mapleshade's vengeance.

I think it's a shame that a lot of people seem to be under the impression I think mapleshade was right to go on a killing spree or these people deserved to die for their mistakes, because it seems like a lot of people do, and I had hoped this video might assuage that, and it did not. But I have always felt that mapleshades vengeance is an excellent tragedy because everyone suffers so greatly, and because nearly everyone had a chance to stop the end result if they had acted earlier. A tragedy is at its best when one is part of the cause of their own suffering I think. Random acts of God are less impactful to me. Now the immediate issue is... Always mapleshades questionable mental health... It is my genuine belief that Vicky DID intend for mapleshade to be having a schizophrenic breakdown after her fever, there's too many very specific pieces of the dsm qualifiers for me to overlook. And if that's true, and I think it is, because she's hallucinating and shows several indications she is experiencing delusions and unable to determine right from wrong, I don't think it's... Really her fault. I think if I held her to the standard of the American justice system, she would not be found guilty. She simply was not in full control of her mind when it happened. Buuuuut I think that's all quite messy and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Mapleshade killed people who didn't deserve it. That's what's important. But what I think is most important in why it's such a good tragedy is that no one has a happy ending from this. No one comes out on top. Mapleshade makes foolish, naive and selfish decisions, but so does appledusk, Oakstar, ravenwing. Everyone chooses not to empathize. Appledusk could have broken things off earlier if he truly wasn't interested anymore like he claimed rather than keep lying to her and leading her on- or he could have taken responsibility for his part in her punishment and asked his leader to let this half drowned grieving mother stay the night at least before she left. Oakstar should not have sent innocent children into the storm. Starclan should not have sent ravenwing this sign that they did not belong on the day of a storm. They did not have to. Ravenwing could have waited a day to give her the opportunity to come clean herself. Frecklewish could have tried to help her drowning children. Darkstsr could have had sympathy for her. But no one in this story wanted to show empathy to others. They made selfish decisions. And the end saw everyone suffer for it. Perchpaw has lost his mentor and must bear the weight of killing another cat. Reedshine lost her mate and will raise her kits alone. Oakstar has now lost both his children. No one had a happy ending. But if there had been someone earlier, perhaps, who stood up and said this is not right, you can't punish her kits for her crimes, you can't send her away at night during a storm with three innocent children. Perhaps none of this would have happened. Hell- appledusk never killed birchface in the first place. His and flowerpaws deaths were tragedies, accidents, but the hatred that everyone perpetuated made them blame each other where there was no blame. The cycle continues and no one stops it.

@@Draikinator I agree that Mapleshade did make some bad decisions, but so did everyone else. It is completely unfair that only she was sent to the dark forest. Everyone should have gone to hell, or everyone to Starclan because they all deserve the same fate/punishment. Not just Mapleshade. And maybe not everyone did deserve to die. Maybe Ravenwing did not do enough harm to get the fate that was brought up on him, but people don't always get what they deserve. Just ask Mapleshade and her kits.

I love myler, he's such an underated character, he tried to help mapleshade even though he didn't know her, when people make mapleshade maps they ALWAYS leave him out, I'm so happy someone finally remembered that he existed

I feel horrible for Mapleshade. She tried so hard to help her kits live happily. I love her, honestly. I am re-watching A Series Of Unfortunate Events with my sister! I found it weird that she was watching it right after this M.A.P came out. She isn’t a bookworm like me, and has no clue about this M.A.P.

I'm also watching A Series of Unfortunate Events with my sister, we watched it a few years ago and decided to re-watch it

I love that you always show scenes that weren't actually in the book like oakstar sitting in front of the graves of his dead children, myler burying mapleshade or appledusks body in riverclan camp where all his clanmates are sitting around him. You always have so creative ideas and your interpretation of characters is so much more interesting than a lot of other artists in the warriors community that only show mapleshade as either complete evil/bad or good/without to blame.

Burn the stars was so good. I really like the idea that starclan isn't like some all knowing collective or anything, it's just a bunch of dead cats who are just as flawed as they were in life, and they have their own motivations and biases- they ARE trying to guide the living, but it was explain some of the more... Questionable decisions, like goosefeathers powers or tigerstars lives.

As I am reading the comments I feel the need to say this, do not give Draikinator fans nor people who are not fond of Nate backlash, because from what I have seen they are all young themselves. They have made mistakes, yes, but that does not give anyone the right to continue the harassment or bullying on either side. I am up to date on the situation, I have heard both sides and found most of everyone may be taking this too far. No, I am not saying we should just forget all the bad and pretend nothing happened, I am saying it has almost been a year, and it seems Draikinator has not repeated the same actions since. Do not go all crazy because we are seeing Nate make warriors content, it is not the end of the world. We are unable to control what they post, so please calm down. As for Nate fans, it is good to see you defend what you believe, but please be sure to be informed about the situation as well, the same for non-draikinator fans. Along with that, cursing at non-draikinator fans does make you look immature since most of us here are most likely teenagers. Responding to me with hate will make you look just as silly, for I too am young, but it saddens me to see I am more mature than some people here. I am not taking a stance with anyone, I do not justify nates actions nor do I support the backlash of others.

In my opinion, this song fits perfectly because, if you think about it, A Series of Unfortunate Events is just like Mapleshades Vengeance. Neither stories really had a happy ending. Both contained a villain that was heartbroken and seeking vengeance, even on others who were innocent overall. I love Mapleshades Vengeance because it's an excellent tragedy, just like ASOUE. Maybe Ravenwing didn't deserve death because he was just acting in the will of Starclan with the prophecy, but cats in Warriors don't always get what they deserve. Mapleshade did some terrible things, but so did everyone else. She payed for her actions, but no one else did. Appledusk went to Starclan with Oakstar, Frecklewish, and Ravenwing, but Mapleshade went to the dark forest to never again see her babies. Her vengeance came with a price that she was forced to pay, but the ones who caused her suffering and bloodthirst payed nothing. In her story, there are no happy endings for anyone involved. But what makes me the most angry is that she alone suffered when no one else who deserved to did. Maybe she did deserve to rot in hell, but so did everyone else. That is how I defend Mapleshade.

I love how you show MapleShade struggling to breath at 1:13 That wasn't meant to sound dark...

This PMV displays the story so well that it makes me legitimately emotional, everyone suffered terribly in MapleShade's Vengeance and every main character was a villain. AppleDusk was a traitorous to both of his mates and disowned his dead children, FreckleWish and OakStar were selfish in banishing the kits, DarkStar was cruel towards MapleShade and overly forgiving of AppleDusk, and MapleShade betrayed and lied to her clanmates then convinced herself that they would be okay with her having a half-clan relationship. There really were no happy endings, it was just an awfully sad story and god, I *love* it!!!

I love this AMV. I like how it shows that Appledusk is actually mouring Mapleshade's death, it's cute ^^ I feel bad for Mapleshade, but some people think she did nothing wrong. Yes, she did lose her kits and her mate and her clan, but she is a VILLAIN. She killed cats, that's not good no matter the cause. Some people say "She killed because she was heartbroken! She did nothing wrong!" But she could've handled her grief better. She's a literal serial killer. Perhaps it would make more sense for her to kill because of grief if she was guilty of it, but she LOVED IT! She had no regrets, and never thought anything was her fault! It was her fault that her kits drowned. She just won't admit it.

It wasn’t her fault that her kits drown they had no were to go if she didn’t go to the riverclan they could have been attack by thunder clan or a fox or badger might have attacked them to. 1 First it was Oakstar decision to banish 3 innocent kits who were 2 moons at the the time still needing milk from they mother. 2 maple shade love Larchkit Patchkit and Petal kit with all her heart if she know that was going to happen she would have waited to go to riverclan

Finally someone used this song from this Netflix series! I haven't even finished this video and love how up did the lipsync. I just saw the title and was immediately pumped up for more Mapleshade.

I wonder if BirchFace took care of the kits in starclan, I wouldn't doubt it he seems like an empathetic cat hmm plus I like to think that he's a better father than AppleDusk by a long shot. Idk maybe some friendship formed between Birch and Maple at the border of StarClan and the Dark Forest. I think thatd be neat..

Yeah, I told nazis on twitter to get hit by a train. I think I said "die" to someone in the warriors fandom, like, once, and that was because they were being actively transphobic, and even then I apologized and edited the comment. And you know what? I should have stayed out of the spunkeii situation. It was hardly my place, whether I was being cheered on or not. I went along too easily with all the fandom drama, all the toxicity I was warned was there before I ever showed up, and it made me an altogether unpleasant person to be around. "Incredibly minimal" is a bit unfair, considering I spent the night on suicide watch in the ER. I am not concerned with the hate. You can say that if you want, but if I had done that, then someone else would be complaining that I didn't explain the situation clearly enough or offer enough context to be believable. No matter what I do, I will not please everyone. I promised to stay away from the warriors community because I was terrified of you and the community and I would have promised you anything to make it stop. I am not, and was not a victim. My actions were not justified. When I joined the fandom, people warned me it was notoriously toxic before I ever came near it- and I let that go to my head. I was snippy, I was careless, and I got involved in drama that I wasn't apart of frequently, and that led to an inevitable conclusion of someone getting hurt. I have taken nearly a year to reflect on my actions and what caused them. I am not a danger to anyone. I am not an abuser. I am not a sex offender. I am an artist, and a stranger to you. I am going to draw cats. If you do not like me, then do not associate with me. Thank you.

@@fionafay594 I think you have to get off your high horse. Nate did some bad things - and they've admitted to it several times. They haven't begged anyone to just forget everything or said that they've done nothing wrong. Nate seems to clearly regret their actions, whether not people "forgive" them is ultimately up to them though. But the idea that they need to give up everything until they've "earned" forgiveness and self-flagellate them selves until the harassers are satisfied while at the same time saying that they could never ever possibly do anything to be forgiven is just not productive or helpful to anyone. Nate certainly has and has had issues. They didn't act appropriately and patiently around children, being quick to lash out at them as if they were peers without recognizing their responsibility and the power imbalance. They needed to learn that not every insult needs a response and they needed to become aware that they need to be careful with their influence, as a public disagreement could lead to swarms of harassment from their fans to literal children. But that doesn't mean people are justified in constantly harassing them, telling them to kill themselves, telling them to go to hell, telling them to piss off and die, and all other sorts of nasty things. You aren't protecting anyone by harassing Nate. And to particularly address the "but they went back on their promise" they have said multiple times that they felt forced to do so in order to stop the harassment during a time of mental duress (minor sidenote, it is extremely crappy and toxic to imply that someone is lying about being suicidal, and I have seen it many times from the harass Draik side. You. Don't. Know. And guessing about that can be extremely dangerous. This is not saying that if someone is threatening to kill themselves or self-harm unless you do something for them that you need to stay in that bad situation, just that the proper response isn't saying they're lying.) Ultimately, it hurts no one that Nate still works on things they're passionate about and enjoy that are related to the Warriors community. If they cause harm, by all means spread awareness, but if you're just mad they "broke their promise" you're not helping anyone by harassing Nate or by harassing those who don't publicly hate and harass them, or are even on good terms with them. (The harassment sent to the host of the Tallstar map was disgusting. And the fact people had the audacity to say that Nate was responsible for the harassers and forcing them to send hate to the host was also disgusting.)

Wait, okay, so I've never read Mapleshade's Vengeance, and up until now I thought she was a RiverClan cat... Until a comment said something about half-clan kits and trying to escape to RiverClan to see her mate or something. What Clan was Mapleshade in???

I’ve posted this on the first warriors video after the drama, but I wanna spread my opinion as well! And if you’re reading this Draik, feel free to state your opinion on my comment as well, I’d like to hear what you think of all this as well as other people :> ---- Ok, I’m just gonna bring all this drama up again that happened months ago by saying- Draikinator has the decision of what they want to make in their content, and whether they can rejoin the Warrior Cats fandom or not. No, I am still a bit skeptical of Draikinator and haven’t completely forgotten it ( and in my opinion, it should be a lesson for everyone to remember ) but it’s not our choice to push a living being, a human, a person that is inevitable to do things that upset people and tell them what to do. My advice for Draikinator is that : if you want to rejoin the fandom, well you can! But you have to earn back your trust and reputation you had beforehand, making the same wrongdoings you did will not help, and you may be pressured to even isolating yourself off the internet ( but that is worst case scenario ). I may not respect you as much as I used to, but I am trying to understand from your point of view and hoping I can convince others to not be so harsh. Finally someone said something about this and I agree completely. Drakinator has the choice to upload warriors content or not and nobody can force them. And they can’t simply keep trying to push them away from the fandom and force them to stop posting anything warriors related. Drak is free to like warriors and there is literally nothing anyone can do about it.

That's what I love about Mapleshade's Vengeance, everyone is morally gray (except the kits, of course). Everyone did bad things, but most of them thought they had a good reason to do these things.

I want there to be an au where Myler saves mapleshade from blood loss. Then instead of dying she goes on to live the rest of her life with him as a barn cat and maybe a year or two of her being a barn cat. Then later her and Myler find a litter of abandoned kits and decided to raise them (the kits are secretly are her original kits just reborn) There for she never leads several cats to the darkside later on. And she ends up going to starclan when she dies and makes up for what she has done. Edit: Myler would probably go to starclan too.

She said it IN the original maps description that's what it was. She does not like me and for her own reasons thinks I am a bad person, and so her intent was to draw traffic and attention away from my work by making a similar work. In fact, if you wait until the end of the credits, you'll see a meme where they've placed my icon in a vine calling me a vulture. Their intent is clear. And I mean hey, if nothing else, my icon that I drew is in there so, a little bit of my art sure is featured lol

Damn! I searched up where this song came from! I was still watching it... Guess they didn't find their parents... I remember being so invested and asked my dad to watch with me. He said he didn't like the series and I was all like "Why?! It's so good!" I thought at the end of every episode they were FINALLY going to find their parents! I was sooooo on my feet about it all! I still think it's good though (both the series and the video!)The song makes me think of my series on Sugar and Frost on Branch. People loved it a lot! I stopped posting it though :,3 I had it planned that Charm(a Ragdoll and main antagonist) was going to win (he wanted to be with sugar and kidnapped her) and explain that not ever story has a happy ending but was scared of people's reaction of it... I truthfully don't care about the drama, I don't feel like restraining someone's ability to create content (when it's something not inappropriate or slanderous) is ever a punishment that should be enforced. Now I don't know what happened, but I feel a different way of punishment should be used if it's as bad as many are saying. Anyways. I loved this animation and the creativity you used to make this. As someone who has once been subjected to being sent inappropriate images as a minor, I do not think it is a good act. All I said was that I don't think suppressing art is a good punishment. It's my personal opinion. I'd appreciate it if you didn't call me something like "disgusting" just due to the fact that I like seeing their art. I could edit the comment if it'll make you feel better, but please try to see a bit on what I'm saying and not immediately assuming that I support the idea of sending inappropriate content to a minor, or that I knew exactly what had happened, all I was aware of was that they had done something wrong, not what exactly they had done. And I'm pretty sure you can mark certain words or phrases as 'spam', so if Nate did that after the whole drama that would've resulted in what's happening now.

Am I creating a lot of content? I supposed everyone has their own definition of what "in" a fandom refers to. I drew some invader Zim recently but I wouldn't really say I was "in" the fandom. I don't really know what the community talks about, im not really invested in fan material. I've watched every episode of supernatural but I'm definitely not in the fandom for that, I don't even like it. But I know some people define it as anyone who consumes content of a thing, canon or fanon. There's a disconnect for me, because as much as my work may influence the fandom because it's highly visible, the affect the fandom has on me is much lower, because I do not talk to anyone in the community. I don't even hear when new books are out I am so disconnected from the rest of the community. So perhaps my hesitation to consider myself a part of the fandom stems from my personal experience, which differs from the external perception. Ultimately, I do not think I am doing anything wrong by creating artwork I am proud of for a thing I enjoy. When I say I am not participating, I mean specifically I am not participating in the drama. I am not going to engage in this way, publically, passionately, because I think it's hardly in my best interest, nor anyone elses.

If they want to make mapleshade or any warrior cats content they should be able to do that without backlash and without being said to be "weaseling back". Like I said, it's their channel, and it's their content. I draw furries and warriors, but does that make me part of those communities? No. It doesn't. Now step off your high horse and stop bringing up drama that has happened basically a YEAR ago. They've apologized, what more do you want? What's said is said, what's done is done. To be fair, there are some things that cannot be so easily apologized for. And I would support the whole ‘it’s their channel’ argument if not for the fact that they promised the would not come back to the fandom. That doesn’t mean not reading the books or never drawing battle cats, I suppose the fandom just didn’t want to be associated with those bad memories (?). And while Nate says that they said it purely to get some people off their back, it is still not super justified. In any case, I feel they haven’t learned their lesson because in many threads, they’re still dignifying comments with response, somehow not yet realizing that in many cases it’s better to just let people have opinions. But that’s just my take.

It feels more like it’s from the perspective of the other characters talking about Mapleshade, rather than just being Mapleshade with other characters butting in sometimes. I don't believe I'm being combative. I do believe people are cherry picking things to add to their call out posts to make it look like I am. You're not wrong. I did shitty, careless things and the people around me got hurt. I have made no effort to deny or refute this. I'm not sneaking anywhere. I'm being incredibly open and public. If I was sneaking I would have changed my username, messed up the paper trail. I would be accepting the many requests I get to join maps hosted by users who don't know the situation. I am surrounded by opportunities to increase my clout and social standing that I do not take because they would entail hurting someone else, and I'm doing my very, very best not to do that anymore. I promised not to make warriors art anymore nearly a year ago, in the hospital on suicide watch while receiving thousands of messages telling me to kill myself. I was in no frame of mind to promise anyone anything but I respected that promise anyway for ages and ages because I had made it. But at the end of the day, I just want to draw stuff that makes me happy. No one else has to look at it. If you don't like it, if you don't like that I made it, please just block me. I don't want to fight anymore anymore. I just want to draw fanart I like in my own little corner as quietly as I can.

I guess to some degree that seems fair, though I don’t really know enough about the whole situation to decide if it really is or not. I probably shouldn’t have made a comment when I didn’t know as much as was out there information-wise, but what I DID know was that the Warriors community did not want you anymore, and you had promised to respect that, forever, but suddenly Warriors content started appearing from you again. I personally though that was shitty and deceitful, and you don’t get a free pass just because you made that promise in an attempt to stop receiving hate when you did something that was wrong. I think some of the responses to it at first were very extreme and I don’t condone that, but I’m not sure that means it’s fair for you to ignore the genuine concerns of people who simply wanted you out because they didn’t want you associating with their fanbase community and possibly putting more people in danger of you. Furthermore, I don’t think you should assume that the Warriors community is necessarily ready to have you back, even if you believe you’re ready to come back. Regardless, it doesn’t look like you intent to stop (which, to a degree, is fair; I understand wanting to make the content you enjoy making). I guess we’ll have to give you a second (third?) chance, whether we want to or not. Don’t screw it up, because I’m guessing now people are gonna be keeping an eye out for this kind of thing and other toxic behaviors from you. Good luck.

Alright, im just gonna put my opinion out there- Originally, Mapleshade didnt WANT to be a villain. When her kits apppeared to her, they told her that THEY hurt them. Not her. Not anyone else. Lets take a small step back though. Mapleshade started out VERY naive at the start of the books. She believed that sTarclaN, (who sucks lol) didnt think she was doing anything wrong. They could have at least sent her a sign or an omen, telling her that what she was doing was wrong. Instead, STUPID FREAKING STARCLAN SENT RAVENWING A SIGN THAT THE KITS DIDNT BELONG?! And Appledusk. HE KNEW THAT HE WAS WITH REEDSHINE WHILE HAVING FREAKING KITS WITH MAPLESHADE!! AND RAVENWING- WHAT MADE HIM THINK THAT THEY SHOULD KICK THE KITS OUT?! HmMmMm, oH l KnOw! STARCLAN DID. Anyways, what Mapleshades vengenance taught us was, Grief and Loss make us do horrible things.
