Usually there's another audio track that records ambient sound. All tracks are later mixed in post and usually you pan each audio track the way you need it to make everything sound the most natural and understandable. This recording seems to be a bit under-mixed. Someone forgot to balance out the audio tracks before rendering.

To add on to what Louis said, I think the reason people think you shouldn't joke about "bad things" is because said people are under the impression that making a joke about something is the same as making fun of something. A racist joke is, more likely than not, making fun of racism, not of the people affected by racism, for example.

That's what you do with awful things you joke about them, that's how you get through it,it's how you survive life. So to say hey, that's way too awful I can't joke about it; that's totally counter intuitive to me. If it's sooo terrible then you better start joking about it because that's how human beings get through it" Words of fucking wisdom.... Apply that context to everything and whatever fear, atrocity or agency is attached to it becomes pliable. It never has to resort to anything too its extreme. If it can be funny people should learn to laugh as opposed to getting upset and resentful and finding a way to be offended. There is nothing in this world that can't be funny.

+spooninspoon I don't think thats true... terrible things in themselves are obviously not funny, it takes alot of skill to make fun of something really terrible. Thats why Louie is one of the greats. There are plenty of shitty comics who get cheap laughs out of making fun of gross subjects, but theyre only appealing to other douchebags. Louie only goes after subjects if theyre overexposed or people are TOO afraid of them. He doesn't just pick taboo's out of a hat, he doesn't get off on offending people.

  • @spooninspoon

Right but there's a process he has to go through to make something funny... and that's whats great about comedy... No doubt there are shitty comedians but I think bad jokes and good jokes come from the same place...It's subjective Most people can pick up on someone who does what you are saying an that person should have the right to say what they want. Nobody is forced to like or listen to someone who does that...I think anything and everything is fair game, we all have our lines of personal decency, i'd hope. The reason I know that is because I myself have been offended before if i have never been offended id start to worry about my environment. i've also said to myself there is no way THIS subject or event or premise could EVER be funny and then someone comes along and pulls it off. I believe in free speech, its easy to navigate something by using context and nuance. we have to accept the fact there is gonna be people who are assholes in this world of which we have to put it up with from time to time...If someone has the ability to take a premise that most people including myself would find offensive and they pull it off I find it admirable...

Stupid people are never funny because they aren't smart enough to comprehend facetiousness. Fair enough, I just wish they wouldn't project that unfortunate malady onto the rest of us. No one forces them to listen to comedy and they're never able to elucidate what supposedly horrible effects edgy comedy is going to have on society. They seem to think that such jokes are going to fundamentally alter individuals' perceptions of serious issues but if mere jokes can have that effect on a person, literally anything else could as well. Stupidity is the issue, not comedy. I'm not in favor of nerfing society based on dumbasses.

@@seth5143 Ok, couldn't resist. Stupidity and absurd behavior used to be diluted because people were exposed to a representative cross section of society at large. We all listened to the same news, interacted with neighbors and work people. Crazies were isolated from each other simply by their rarity, so consensus was usually formed naturally. With internet, outliers of thinking were able to communicate with each other and confirm each other. They were able to find validity in these groups. On the internet everyone has a voice, and we started to treat opinion as a right and offensive to question. Don't call me crazy, lots of people agree with me. If your idea is agreed by 500 people, it can't be nutty, right? 500 people of 4 billion. Yes it surely can. The second part and the super fuel to this change was social media algorithms to increase engagement and advertising driven economy. This is driven as giving you more of what you already think. Truth or value of this is irrelevant. See more of this and watch this ad. Everything online is free because we are the product to advertisers, so we get grouped into demographic groups and isolated from others who are different, so that we feel good. Getting the likes on your post is literally the same as certain drugs in the brain. Facebook knows this. So we end up with opinions being facts while facts are just opinions. What one feels is reality, and if you feel uncomfortable by someone's words, it's their fault. Nobody tells anyone they are wrong anymore, because anyone can find confirmation for any thought. I don't know what the future holds. Hopefully new generations will figure out how to work within that environment successfully, or as happens the world sometimes takes a step backwards to a dark age. Just my theory, don't tell me I'm wrong, I don't want to hear it.

@@wyskass861 Nah, I won't tell you you're wrong. I think all of that is true but the conditions you describe only exacerbate problems which already existed. I'll also add that remarkably intelligent people can believe crazy nonsense as well, especially if such beliefs are comforting to them or confirm some bias they have (ie. intelligent people who are also fiercely religious because the implications of the religious ideology they've chosen to subscribe to allays their fear of death or arms them with a sense of certainty). I suppose what I've just suggested drives against my original statement but...thought I should say it anyway. I don't know what the future holds either but I'm not optimistic at all. I used to think the internet was a net positive and hope it is in reality. The problems you allude to-and others-could be partially alleviated by breaking up these massive internet monopolies but unfortunately you'd need another concentration of power in order to do that and the people doing the regulating would quite literally be the same people being regulated. You know that pouty orange man who claimed he would drain the DC swamp if elected? Yeah, that didn't happen.

Agreed that those human tendencies for confirmation bias and seeking to feel better from it have always existed, and conditions today increase it. But today AI has fine tuned which messages we should see that will maximize our pleasure and hearing confirmation of our opinions is emotional and we choose that. The leads to more engagement and exposure to view very targeted ads. You are right, and I've wondered why intelligent people can believe nonsense, and indeed it is as you say comforting and based on emotion not logic, and maybe even guess that it's driven by fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of doubt.. Religious often ask, how did the universe being, and when answered with we don't know, they use it as proof of god, because not knowing is scary to those types.

I think Louis C.K hit the nail on the head here when he said that he wouldn't do a joke about something if he couldn't make a funny joke or non-boring joke out of it. I was literally just thinking this yesterday about Mel Brooks. Of course he joked about the Holocaust. If you think about it, it's the only way he could talk about it without it being too awful to bear, and it was too pervasive in the collective consciousness of his time to not talk about. It's like, you can't tell jokes at all if you don't address the Holocaust, but at the same time you can't address the Holocaust without joking. So he made it the subject of humor. It's how he (and his fans) dealt with the problem.

I don't think it's a fine line. Everyone can tell the difference. Bullying happens when you make fun of someone who is vulnerable. To belittle others is never really funny, and not really comedy.
