Okay, hear me out. Not liking Twilight, not having seen Twilight, not being interested in Twilight: Those are all fine. They are not good movies. Hating Twilight with passion? That‘s a red flag. Twilight like no other fandom was targeting exclusively young women and like every other thing that young women flock to it was disregarded as something horrible for that reason alone. Don‘t get me wrong, I‘m not particularly attached to either the books and the movies, but making them out to be absolutely wrong and distasteful and childish was over the top when we have action movies with plots just as dumb. There is a reason that female fans of boy bands are portrayed as hysterical and fanatical whilst football fans are not (and it’s not that they are more civilized - there‘s fireworks on football fields regularly). It‘s because something that women (especially young women) like must be horrible. Because sexism.
